ABOUT THE ITEM Thank you for viewing my auction! You are bidding on a nice old wakizashi koshirae. This tsuka comes with a very nice pair of dragon menuki. This is the kind of koshirae you would want to display in your glass case. The age of the koshirae is from Edo period. But the scabbard seems like it is less old because it is very clean and shows no damages on it. However. Since all the parts fit perfectly with the wooden blade(newer and needs mekugi/pin and make a hole to fit) It feels like they are all from one original sword. The metal parts on this koshirae are very nice. It is 24 inches long and the grip part is 6 inches long. Please find my other items up for auction. I ship worldwide. Blade: Nice blade in fair old polish showing itame hada and an active suguha hamon. No nicks. No chips and no cracks. Nice longer kissaki tip, which is intact with a healthy omaru boshi all the way around the tip. There are some minor forging openings as well a few small oxidation spots. Nakago: Ubu Mumei(unsigned) nakago with 1 meguki ana. Shirasaya: Blade wears a nice shirasaya with horn inserts. Which remains in good condition. Mounted with a wooden habaki. Antique Japanese Sword Wakizashi Strong Temper Line Nice Fittings & Scabbard
This really nice sword came from the same collection I got into a little over a month ago. I've got a couple more to sell. So see my other listings. I'm no expert on Japanese swords. The temper line is rather straight yet very strong on both sides and it goes around to the tip that has a bit of a nip as you can see in the 3rd photo. Nice polish. No dark spots like I normally see it seems. The cutting edge is 20 inches as seen in the 2nd pic. Old. And handmade- what's not to love? Sharp all the way to the bottom of the cutting edge. If you look where I'm pointing in the 2nd to last photo. There is about a 1/2 inch bite in the edge. Sorry about that. The tang is not signed that I can tell. But it is obviously very old. Here is a nice 8 sided iron wakizashi tsuba with sukashi tomoe and what appears to be a possible dragon done in silver nunome. The whole tsuba is slightly cup ped and has a hammered rim. Shakudo sekigane line the edge of the the hitsuana which is a nice touch and well done. Not sure what school of craftsmen made this tsuba. Has a feeling of being the work of a Kyushu region. The patina is a very good purplish black. 6.5cm x 5.9cm x 3mm

This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in mountings. The blade is signed"Sukekuni 祐国" Shinogi-zukuri shape. Edo period ca.1850 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has komaru temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada. Shows minor coarse forging(see 7.8 photos) but no forging flaws. The scabbard is lacquered wood scabbard, shows minor lacquer loss but no dent, no crack and in good condition. The handle is tight fit, Higo tsuka with matched iron fuchi/ kashira and family mon motif copper menukis. The tsuba is iron tsuba with nice patina. This is a nice Samurai fighting tsuka for a powerful wakizashi. it still retains its steel mekugi. The fuchi kashira are heavy iron. Center band is deeply patinated yamagane. looking at the nakago opening of 3 cm and 12cm deep makes me think it could be for a long thick nagamaki naoshi that was preferred for combat. This piece shows age tht could go back to kanbun or earlier. Wood tsuka is black lacquered. Overall length is 6 1/4"

Nihonto Wakizashi - Very Early Edo / Shinto Period, Signed Fujiwara Iyetada
Edo/ Shinto Period Japanese Wakizashi signed Fujiwara Iyetada A very attractive Japanese wakizashi from the early Edo period. The Nagano(tang) signed Ka-Shu Ju Fujiwara Iyetada. The smith working circa 1624 in the Kaga Province of Japan. The tang with three menuki-ana peg holes. Indicating it had a long history. Mounted with cherry blossom rich fittings indicating the furniture is Emperor Hirohito era, most probably belonged to a WW2 official confiscated at the end of WW2. The cat scratch habaki indicating the owner was very proud of his family treasure. It is clearly very well made with few forging marks to the steel. A little Ji-Nie, and no apparent flaws. It would benefit from an expert polish though I have never managed to have this done, I suspect a superb finish could be achieved. The tsuka was worn so I have it it resorted to its former ... moreglory by Two Moons Tsuka Restoration in the UK. It's had new Ito(cotton bindings) and new Same(ray skin) The lacquered saya I think is period, I have also had this restored by a specialist in Union, New Jersey. While it was being restored it was noted that the Wakizashi has seen a lot of service due to the cut marks found on the back of the Saya when removing the old paint. The kozuka companion knife is missing, again I have never gotten round to sourcing a new one. The fuchi and kashira both with Imperial Japanese cherry blossom(sakura) A plain but beautiful iron tsuba finishes it of nicely. This is also of the Edo era. A WWII bring-back. Good, early, Japanese Wakizashi Sword in Shira Saya(storage scabbard) Cutting edge measures 26 1/2 inches, point to habaki, over all length(point to end of tang) 34 1/4 inches. I believe this to be an early blade(much earlier than WWII) a meaty blade showing stains, wear and only a faint glimmer of a temper line, blade ridge still fairly strong. Copper habaki with"falling rain" pattern and remains of silver wash, fits tight. The tang exhibits dark patina with very old pitting, two holes and 5 characters. Blade has no nicks or chips. This is an original circa 1550 real Samurai wakizashi blade with long signature by Sukesada. Signature looks genuine and the blade is healthy. Worthy of restoration. The cutting edge measure 15 5/8 inches. The tip is longer than average. The hamon is visible the entire length of the edge. There are no cracks, bends or rust. There are a few nail catchers and a kitae-ware near the mune. The original scabbard is missing the trim fittings, has hole in end, and has a glued crack, otherwise decent. As found, sold as is.
