JAPANESE SHINTO SAMURAI SWORD WAKIZASHI 16th/17th CENTURY SIGNED 行貞 Yukisada
A Japanese Shinto blade from the 16th or 17th Century. Possibly made in the Bungo Province. Rayskin covered handle. Gold colored ito and menuki. Decorated kashira. Wood scabbard with brass kojiri. Gold sageo. Tang signed 行貞 Yukisada. MEASUREMENTS: Blade length is 13" Overall length is 20" CONDITION: Blade shows light discoloration. Dark spots, grind marks, and out of polish. It is still nice and strong blade with no flaws, nicks, openings and edge and point is still nice and sharp. Ito is intact as is the menuki. Metal components all exhibit a dark patina and shows a great age. The scabbard shows moderate flaking to the brown finish. Nice antique sword that should polish up nice and show it's original glory once again.

A Shinshinto period Wakizashi 38.735 cm. nagasa in excellent polish. Recent NBTHK paper certifies the Mei as Muraoka Shigetsugu of Fukuchiyama.Tanba Province and Dated 1852. This hira-zukuri blade is flawless. The hamon is a long wave shallow gunome with a large boshi and long turnback. Deep sori for this size 1.27 cm. The hada is small Itame. The shirasaya is recent and in excellent condition. Nice plain undamaged copper habaki. Overall a top notch blade with no room for improvement. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in full mountings. The blade is signed"Soshu ju Yasumasa 相州住康正" Shinogi-zukuri shape. Muromachi period ca.1500 era made blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no stain and in mint condition. There is no nick, no bend and cutting edge is sharp. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, shows tiny ware on shinogi-ji but no openings. No blisters and in good condition. The scabbard is urushi lacquered wood scabbard, shows tiny lacquer loss but no dent and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with gold inlay fuchi/kashira. Handle wrapping is no cut, no loose and in excellent condition. The tsuba is nadekaku shape iron sukashi tsuba with nice patina. WW2 Japanese Officer Sword With WAKIZASHI Blade & Katana Mounting
WW2 Japanese Officer Sword with old 20" Wakizashi blade in Katana mounting. 31" overall measurement. Original length blade(not shortened) is straight with nice wavy temper line(Hamon) and double signatures on the tang. The early hand guard(Tsuba) is brass with cutout design and all parts have the same number"27" stamp. The scabbard is wood with leather wrap and missing the top, metal item. The leather cover on the scabbard is in need of some stitching/repair and the blade has a few nicks but no major damage. Overall I would say the sword is in above average condition and through additional information from the double signatures, this sword could prove to be an old family Samurai sword and an excellent investment. This is an old Japanese sword. The blade is 13 inches long and one inch wide. The width of the blade is 1/4" The tang has one hole and no writing. There are six characters of writing on the left side of the blade. There is one character of writing on the right side of the blade. The blade is stained and dark. The little knife blade is 4" long. It appears to have four characters of writing on the right side of the blade. The handle of the little knife appears to be made out of copper. All the fittings are nice. Old fittings. See photos. The"Sori. i.e. curvature, is 1.8 cm, which gives the blade very beautiful figure. Hamon on the blade is Suguha(直刃) type. I.e. straight pattern. The surface of the blade has nice grain. There are a couple of forging openings and 2 spots on one side which look affected by mukade-shinae. I think they may come out with a polish. The sword is a Shinto wakizashi from the well-known swordsmith Bizen Sukesada and is samurai-mounted. The blade and the mountings are in Excellent condition. The sword has a blade length of 18.5 inches(47cm) It features a rare construction that is shinogi zukuri on one side and hira zukuri on the other. The hada is a swirling itame that at times becomes a burl mokume. The hamon is a narrow ... moresuguha that is present the length of the blade ending in a maru boshi. The tang is signed Bizen no Kuni Osafune Sukesada. It is ubu. Or un-shortened. Bizen Sukesada was a long line of swordsmiths dating from 1500 to 1700. They were well known and famous for supplying swords during Japan’s civil wars of the 1500s. In the 1600s they were known for making high quality swords. Based on the shape and workmanship. This looks to have come from a later generation working in the 1600s making the sword Shinto. The blade comes in original Samurai mountings. They are in Excellent condition. The tsuka has a silk ito wrapping over nice menuki. The tsuba is a thick iron sukashi with a cut out design of birds. The saya(scabbard) is lacquered wood and features a rare tree branch design on it. It shows few areas of missing finish or scratches. Retaining ~97-98% original finish. The blade is in Excellent condition. There are no nicks. Little rust, and just some scratches along its length. There are a couple areas of loose grain. There do not appear to be any major flaws like hagire. I think this sword would be an outstanding addition for a collector of Japanese swords or WWII militaria. T

About this sword: This is a koto wakizashi that has been attributed as a later generation Mino Kanemoto work(circa 1573) by the NTHK(NPO) This blade has no kizu and is healthy. This was ... morepolished in the states. This has very typical workmanship for the Kanemoto group. This blade also has an Edo period koshirae. The tuska has been restored in a two tone tsukamaki style. The rest of the koshirae looks to be original Edo period. The tsuba is a Mito example of good quality. There are copper shi shi dog menuki. The fuchi is iron and the kashira is horn. There are two cracks on the top of the saya that run halfway down the length of the saya. There is tape on this area now to prevent further damage. This will be a repair task for the new owner to take on. The original kuro-urushi is mostly intact. As mentioned above. This comes with a kanteisho paper(72 points) and has no kizu. This is a great blade for a new collector as it is not expensive, is very representative of one of the 5 gokaden, has a paper and has a koshirae.

HUGE ROBUST JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD KOTO O'SURIAGE WAKIZASHI in SAMURAI KOSHIRAE
A Koto period Wakizashi 44.76 cm. nagasa in old polish. I believe this blade dates from late Nambokucho to the early Muromachi period and was originally one of the very large and heavy katanas developed during those periods. This blade is very beefy and thick right up through the yokote. It weighs as much as a normal Shinto period katana. the bare blade weighs 563 g. There are two very minor individual spots of rust(one on the ura yokote still in the shinogi ji and the other on the omote roughly in the center of the blade also in the shinogi ji) I believe these will both polish out. I can find no kizu. The complete boshi is present with the turnback and the hamon is a very wide choji much of it wider than 1/2" Because of the age of the polish the Hamon has been very hard to photograph but it is all present with no interruption. The subdued ... moreno nonsense koshirae are in decent shape with matching fuchi/kashira(the inlays of silver and gold basically intact) A nice silver foil habaki,a thick iron tsuba made for combat. The tsuka has been rewrapped with new same' and matching gold wash and shakudo doves. The saya is an original Samurai period piece with the original black lacquer taking on a dark brown hue. Someone has sanded part of the finish and there are traces of lacquer touch up that was never finished. The finish is full of cracks and chips but the saya in still solid and simply needs a refinish if desired. With the exception of the sloppy saya work and the very nice rewrap on the tsuka I believe this sword is basically intact from the early Shinto period when I also believe the blade was shortened. I have exempted bidding from a large list of countries that I believe would frown on this kind of import.I may have missed a few.You should know if this is illegal to import into your country.If this is confiscated by your customs service because it is illegal it will be your responsibility entirely.I will not refund your payment untill the sword is returned to me intact.

JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD WAKIZASHI IN SHIRASAYA MADE FEB 3, 1617 GENWA EDO PERIOD
Here we have a Japanese Shinto sword I recently obtained from a local widow of a WWII US Army vet who recently passed away and who served in the US Army and was stationed in Japan after the surrender. She told me that the sword has been stored in his war service memorabilia chest all these decades since he returned in the mid-1940s. The total length of the sword in the wooden resting scabbard is 28-inches. The length of the metal from the tip of the blade to the butt of the tang is 21.5-inches. The"short" blade itself is approx. 14.5-inches and the tang is approx. 7-inches. the gold-colored collar is approx. 1-inch in depth. The blade is 1/4-inch thick. The width of the blade is approx. 1 1/8-inch at the widest point. The hamon difficult to photograph but is present and consistently wavy and jagged in places on both sides of the ... moreblade. This sword HAS NOT BEEN SHORTENED it is as it was made nearly 400 years ago. The Omote Mei reading is" No shu ju Kane tosi. Mino province residence sword-smith. The Ura Mei reading is Genwa Sannen Nigatsu bi, sword made February 3rd, 1617, which is very early 3rd year Genwa period of the Edo period. The Japanese characters on the tang are beautifully formed and inscribed and appear to have been executed by an experienced sword-smith. There are some blade blemishes on the very. Very old and rough-looking polish, tiny nicks and chips, but no major Kizu, or fatal flaws. The blade is still very sharp and will easily cut. The Habaki-gane is gold colored and does not resemble aged brass or copper which would be very dark and dull, and I don't know if the collar is of gold. The blade also contains a curious small stamping on the spine. A symbol of some sort. Perhaps you know what this means. The wooden storage scabbard is very, very old and has a crack in the lower portion, likely an age split. There are no markings on it that I can find. The photos tell the story. This is an antique Shin-shinto Wakizashi. Everything fits together properly. With no play whatsoever. The Blade is healthy, with a strong suguha hamon and excellent character to the steel in general. Antique Wakizashi Japanese Sword/Koshirae Edo Signed Not Katana or Tanto
Wakizashi sword in koshirae that has old polish. The blade is still very sharp and will slice paper easily, Hamon has a very nice temper line but doesn't show up well in the pictures. Sword is signed on the nakago with two characters. I am no expert on Japanese swords and have no idea what the signature states. Possibly someone with thorough knowledge will inform me of this. Habaki is copper fits very well, the fuchi(sleeve on suka) and kojiri(saya endcap) is missing. Gokatana is missing from the saya. Tsuba is iron with cherry trees and blossoms. Overall very good to excellent condition. Very Old Edo Japanese Sword, Wakizashi Blade, Signed, Remount Or Rroject
Up for sale we have a very old Japanese sword wakizashi blade for remount. This is signed and can be remounted right away if wanted. The blade is clean and bright and has no bends or nicks to the edge. Another project I never got around to. Has a very nice straight hamon and measures just shy of 26 inches with a 20 3/8 inch nagassa. The only thing I see is one spot of kuhure and two spot of ware in picture 6 and these are well above the hamon so the are non fatal but noticabale. Blade has never been sharpened. Edo Period Wakizashi. Signed Musashino-kami Kunitugu· Mid 17th Century signed and dated February 1693. The sword in terrible condition. The blade is nicked, and rusted, however still retains its sharpness. The scabbard is also in disarray. However. I did ask a colleauge to translate the signature and we were able to identify the period and the maker. This sword if fully restored. Can bring 1000's. According to the signature this sword was made by the Master Musashino-Kami Kunitugu. He was born in 1661. And would have lived during this period described below. Kanbun-Shinto period(1658-1683) In this period the center of swordmaking were Edo and Osaka. And new style of sword appeared. This sword has extremely little Sori. In 1683, Tokugawa shogunate prescribed the maximum size of Katana and Wakizashi. Therefore, swordsmiths commonly ... moremade long swords around 70cm. Genuine Japanese Ko-Wakizashi/O-Tanto, Nihonto katana in shirasaya and habaki
I am selling this and a few other swords(please see my other listings) that I acquired from a local retiree who recently passed away. As far as I am aware. These are genuine Japanese swords, presumably antique, although I do not have enough knowledge to determine exact age or maker. This ko-wakizashi/o-tanto has a signature, but I cannot read Japanese. Please see the picture. I'm not a very good photographer, but here are the relevant measurements: Blade edge length: ~14inches Width at blade collar(habaki) ~2.6cm Thickness at blade collar: ~0.6cm The shirasaya is recently made, and has an excellently fitted new habaki. I would prefer to sell only within the US, because sending things internationally is a headache and very expensive. Thank you for looking.

PICS SHOWN ARE NOT THE SET COMING(pictured daisho once owned by the great Minamoto no kami Musashi(joking) If someone purchases these swords they will not have them for at least month. I have somethings I need to do. Just want to get the word out they should be available in a couple of weeks. What we have is a set of nihonto from the Shinto period. The katana is a very long almost 30 inch nagasa. Slightly shortened and signed fujiwara jumyo, from the early 1600's. could use a finish polish but no flaws visible and in great shape. He is a 2 million yen smith. jumyo smiths originated in early kamakura yamato province and were yamato from nara smiths originally. Their reputation has carried the name to modern times. The name jumyo means long life, and was much appreciated by the samurai ... moreand were often given as gifts from the daimyo. Legend was that they had supernatural powers and the wound from a jumyo sword would never heal. They were all above average in skill and were known as practical, useful and sharp swords. In the early Shinto period Tokugawa Ieyasu, along with Takeda Shingen defeated a great clan(cant remember the name right now) and Ieyasu moved the smiths to owari province where they worked exclusively for the Tokugawa samurai in Owari province for the shogun. They really were great and appreciated smiths in their time. This sword is by one of those smiths that worked for the shogun. They used the fujiwara title in their signatures. I believe this is the first generation. I will guarantee this sword to paper early Shinto jumyo for 2 years, I am so sure it is what it is. here are some examples of jumyo swords that have sold. Also this one in Japan by a great dealer I have done business with in the past. I believe the second listing to be the same smith as this sword. But it maybe nidai. His son. The kanji is very similar. This sword will come in koshirae. black saya, iron tsuba plain, shakudo fuchi and kashira and shakudo kozuka(no blade)
