Which appears to be a decent candidate for restoration. It appears to be an osuriage sword(cut down from longer length) and in my best estimate it is from the Muromachi period. 1337 to 1573, Koto era) I have owned Muromachi katanas before and this is very similar in form and balance. The nagasa(blade length) is roughly 21 inches. As far as I can tell there are no hagiri(fatal flaws) on it. Only a lot of rust. An excellent original Japanese samurai Owakizashi. Looks to be high-end Hizen work and the old sayagaki says it was made by Tadayoshi. This blade is wide and healthy and the sharp cutting edge measures 53 cm. Nearly katana length. There are no cracks, openings or forging flaws. There is a tiny nail catcher near the tip. The Edo period polish is in overall fine condition with areas of light staining. The Hizen graining is very prominent. Although difficult to photograph. The temper line is wide and extremely bright and active. The unmarked tang has 2 holes. It was likely shortened from katana length in the late Edo Period. Excellent original solid silver habaki! It has some original koshirae. The menuki are of a phoenix and the fuchi is of a bamboo/cherry blossom motif and the kashira of horn. The seppa and tsuba are certainly not original.
