Authentic Japanese Samurai Katana in Mounts This blade is guaranteed authentic Nihonto(traditionally made) Blades like this. Were made by folding hard steel, many times over, and then forging tougher steel in between. The edge was then tempered forming a crystalline steel matrix, called martensite. This made for an extremely sharp, yet break resistant, sword. Signed: Wakasa No Kami Ujifusa. The signature"Wakasa No Kami Ujifusa" Wakasa No Kami Ujifusa. Of Owari, is considered a top smith from the late Muromachi to the early Shinto period, Seki-Mino tradition. The mei looks to be an attribution mei, because it does not match extant examples bearing this signature. According to Fujishiro. The Wakasa No Kami Ujifusa from 1570 ca. is the son of Seki Kanefusa, another excellent smith from the Koto Period, Seki School. Wakasa No Kami Ujifusa ... morewas the father of Hida No Kami Ujifusa. This tsuba is made by Przemysław Podstawa(Przemek) I had four tsuba made by Przemek for a few sword projects I had going on. I love the mitsudmoe theme and so I had the mon cut into a simple iron tsuba. I have a few other tsuba being made in similar themes and I just have a few too many of these style tsuba at the moment. I might end up using this on another project sword in the not too distant future if this does not sell. Still. This is a great example of Przemeks work. Its simple iron with a nice patina. Antique Japanese Samurai Wakizashi Sword Blade 15.25" NR!
Greetings! You are bidding on One(1) Antique Japanese Samurai Wakizashi Blade. The blade measures 15.25" 38.75 CM) from tip to the notch on the back of the blade. The blade profile is Hira-zukuri per The Samurai Sword Handbook by John M. Yumoto. This is a handmade blade and is still extremely sharp. Unfortunately. It looks like someone sanded the blade at some point in it's history. The scratches are not deep and I think it could be restored by the new owner into a nice sword. There are two nicks in the blade that I tried to photograph. I found this sword in the basement of a house underneath the workbench. This is just how I found it. No scabbard or handle. This sword is instantly recognizable through its presence in art and films depicting samurai, and through surviving examples on display in museums and coveted by collectors around the world. As Wikipedia reminds us. The wakizashi(Kanji: 脇差 Hiragana: わきざし) meaning‘side inserted sword’ is one of the traditionally made Japanese swords( nihonto) worn by the samurai class in feudal Japan. The wakizashi has a blade between 30 and 60 cm(12 and 24 in) With wakizashi close to the length of a katana being called o-wakizashi and wakizashi closer to tantō length being called ko-wakizashi. The wakizashi being worn together with the katana was the official sign that the wearer was a samurai or ... moreswordsman of feudal Japan. When worn together the pair of swords were called daishō. Which translates literally as"big-little" The katana was the big or long sword and the wakizashi the companion sword. NEAT WWII JAPANESE WAKIZASHI SWORD WITH FIELD COVER VET BRINGBACK 27TH MARINES
Presented for the WWII collector is this neat wakizashi in quasi-military mounts with a WWII leather scabbard cover. It is in untouched. As-found condition and was one of many souvenirs brought home by a member of the 2nd Battalion, 27th Marines, 5th Marine Division. The 5th Marine Division only saw combat at one location in the vast expanse of the Pacific, but their trial by fire was at Iwo Jima. They were on occupation duty for a brief time in Kyushu before being deactivated in 1946 at San Diego, California. The blade length from the base of the habaki to the tip is 21 1/4 inches and the overall length from the end of the tang to the tip is 26 3/4 inches. The blade width right in front of the habaki is about 1 1/8 inches. It is very light, handy, and has a good balance. The blade is in original polish or at least an old polish. It is untouched ... moreand is bright except for a spray of discolored spots near the tip. I don't see any noticeable pitting. This blade is an old one in my opinion as evidenced by the heavily rusted tang and punched peg hole. I am of the opinion it is gendaito as opposed to showato. The temper line is straight and is slightly more than 1/8 of an inch in width. However, kizu is evident in the form of a few small forging flaws so we aren't talking National Treasure status here. The cachet of this sword lies in its combat history anyhow. There is some very shallow chipping along the last 4 inches of the tip and there is a noticeable bow to the blade as if someone fell on it while it was being carried. Thus, the drawing and sheathing of it in the scabbard is pretty tight. The tsuba is an ancient iron one of simplistic form with a low-relief depiction of an oceanside dwelling, Shinto arch, and driving rain streaks in the background. There are a few small remnant pieces of gold inlay. It is heavily patinated and obviously of great age. The seppa are a hodgepodge of different styles. However, they make everything line up satisfactorily and have been with this ensemble since it was captured. T

I know that the blade is everything when it comes to Japanese blades so I have done my best to describe in the condition report. The blades sharp edge extends into the copper habaki and the tip of blade does not get fat as seen in showa blades. The blade measures 13" long from back top spine notch to tip of blade. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in project mountings. The blade is unsigned, shinogi- zukuri shape. Ca.1600 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows light scratches but no rust, no stain and in good condition. The temper line is attractive gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada and no forging flaw at all. The scabbard is old urushi lacquered scabbard. No crack, no lacquer loss and in good condition. Handle shows ray-skin cover only with fuchi only. Missing kashira. Menuki. Tsuba and tuka-ito wrapping.
