Antique Genuine Japanese Wakizashi Sword /Tsuba / Saya / Kogatana Shinto Period

A Genuine Antique Japanese Wakizashi Sword Including Tsuba. Saya and Kogatana Probably Shinto(c17th-mid 18th century) Blade Unsigned- Tsuba Signed"Kuni Hiro" ============================================================== You are looking at a genuine antique Japanese Wakizashi sword. This is a shorter sword than the Katana. It has with it an iron Tsuba(guard) signed as above plus a Saya(scabbard) and a small ancillary knife(Kogatana) that fits into the tsuba. The blade is probably Shinto in period and therefore ancient. I confirm this is NOT a modern replica. Details of the blade are as follows: Total length- 55.6cms. Mune- ihori. File marks- Kiri. Nakago- 13.5cms. ... moreKissaki to ha-machi- 42.1cms. Width at mune- 0.5cms. Max ha to mune- 2.8cms. Max Ha to hamon- 0.3cms. Ha to shinogi- 2cms. Condition: Blade. The blade has some minor nicks along the edge with one more significant chip. Please see the photos. There is some traditional staining and scratches. The hamon is clearly visible. The tang has some traces of orange rust. I have given this just a gentle clean with fingers and a tiny amount of oil. This should be repeated to stabilise. Saya Good. Some minor scracthing and a tiny piece of flaking plus some pinhead marks. Tsuba Iron. Signed. Clear signs of age. Some minor red rust marks- again cleaned once gently by hand with a little oil. More restoration probably required. Kotagana Brass or bronze handle(Kozuka) May have once had a plaque inset not missing. Steel blade with corrosion. Tsuka(Handle) Ray skin and wrap good. Copper fittings engraved. Some slight damage around mekugi holes(for securing pin) Menugi in place. JAPANESE SAMURAI SWORD KOTO O'SURIAGE WAKIZASHI in ORIGINAL SAMURAI KOSHIRAE
A Koto period Wakizashi 44.76 cm. nagasa in old polish. I believe this blade dates from late Nambokucho to the early Muromachi period and was originally one of the very large and heavy katanas developed during those periods. This blade is very beefy and thick right up through the yokote. There are two individual spots of rust(one on the ura yokote still in the shinogi ji and the other on the omote roughly in the center of the blade also in the shinogi ji) I believe these will both polish out. I can find no kizu. The complete boshi is present with the turnback and the hamon is a very wide choji much of it wider than 1/2" Because of the age of the polish the Hamon has been very hard to photograph but it is all present with no interruption. The subdued no nonsense koshirae are in decent shape with matching fuchi/kashira(the inlays of silver ... moreand gold basically intact) A nice silver foil habaki,a thick iron tsuba made for combat. The tsuka has been rewrapped with new same' and matching gold wash and shakudo doves. The saya is an original Samurai period piece with the original black lacquer taking on a dark brown hue. Someone has sanded part of the finish and there are traces of lacquer touch up that was never finished. The finish is full of cracks and chips but the saya in still solid and simply needs a refinish if desired. With the exception of the sloppy saya work and the very nice rewrap on the tsuka I believe this sword is basically intact from the early Shinto period when I also believe the blade was shortened. I have exempted bidding from a large list of countries that I believe would frown on this kind of import.I may have missed a few.You should know if this is illegal to import into your country.If this is confiscated by your customs service because it is illegal it will be your responsibility entirely.I will not refund your payment untill the sword is returned to me intact.

This is an authentic antique Edo period Japanese Samurai Wakizashi. The blade is wide. Razor sharp, and of good health. It has a fresh Japanese polish, and displays a fantastic fine itame hada, as well as a fine and prominent, suguha hamon. The hada of the blade also has a fantastic surface pattern which looks like oil drops on the skin of the steel. I am not an expert in such things, but it appears similar to utsuri, however it is perfuse throughout. JAPANESE WAKIZASHI c/w SCABBARD in WWII MOUNTS, DIRECT VETERAN ESTATE PURCHASE
Up for sale I can today offer a DIRECT veteran estate acquired antique Japanese Wakizashi. I got this nice little sword from the son of the WWII Pacific war veteran who"souvenired" it during his stint of duty. It appears to be a quite old blade. And has TWO holes in the tang, plus a very dark, smooth patina, indicative(to me at least) of a lot of legitimate age. I've been told that this blade could easily be in excess of a few hundred years old, however the mounts, with the obvious exception of the Tsuba) are all WWII vintage by all appearances. I can find NO Kanji on the tang, but it could also be that the dark patina of the steel is simply obscuring the markings. I do not believe however, that the blade is marked as to its maker. The blade itself measures 21 1/4 inches long(unmounted) and when the handle is assembled, the ... moreentire length is roughly 24 5/8 inches long(out of its sheath) The Tsuba is very simple, made of iron, and does seem to have some sort of impressed design which I can't quite make out. The blade has a double-Habaki, the outer-most piece of which appears slightly compressed. Additionally, there are a few light scratches on the blade just above the habaki, the result, I suppose, of the Habaki moving over this area in the past. I'm sure these can be polished out(or left as is) The handle is wrapped ray skin, the Menuki appears very standard WWII fare, as does the pommel. There is some looseness between the handle and the Tsuba/ blade, perhaps due to the compression of the Habaki, or perhaps just from age? The scabbard is longer than the actual blade(which I've been told is correct for this type of sword) and is comprised of two wooden sleeves compressed together within an outer leather sheathing. This in turn, is laced at the throat, and interestingly, there's a metal band w/ scabbard ring through which both wooden slabs pass, and is facilitated through an opening in the leather. The small knife fits in the scabbard. The handle(maybe ray skin) is cracked as the pictures show. Also in the pictures you can see that the wooden piece on the butt of the handle is loose.
