The tsuka is made with original ray skin with green ito. The fittings. Fuchi. Kashira and menuki are probably 19th century. The nakago has signature MEI: KATSUMITSU. It seems the nakago has been polished. According to sword dictionary. Katsumitsu swordsmiths were in Kaga( Ishikawa prefecture) and Bizen(Okayama prefecture) Katsumitsu of Kaga is for TENSHO(about 475 yrs ago) and lank is $ 45000. Katsumitsu of Bizen is for Eikyo(about 578 yrs ago) and Tenmon(about 475 yrs ago) and lank is $ 78000-$90000. The blade has a typical shinogi-zukuri shape and is in overall very good condition. No kizu or cracks, little rust, the blade has been polished in Japan and has hadori polishing and it's partially covering the hamon. The curvature is typical for the BIZEN school style swords. Japanese Tanto Kimono Antique Wakizashi Sword Shirosaya Naganata Katana
Samurai Wife's Tanto and Kimono. Auction is for both items. The Tanto would be carried in the sleeve of their Kimono and used for personal protection. The Tanto would also be used if their Warrior lost in battle and the Victor would come to try to rape the Samurai's wife, she would use the Tanto to commit suicide rather than face the Victor. The overall length of the Tanto is 9 1/2 inches, blade length 4 1/2 inches, blade width just over 3/4" Do not know if tang is signed could not remove handle. Looks like bone on the ends. Blade is very sharp. has wear to finish and surface rust and nicks. Total sword in scabbard measures approx. 33-1/2" long- blade is about 27" long. blade's cutting edge is about 21" long and is approx. 1-1/4" wide near the guard. scabbard is about 25-1/2" long. tang has one hole and is signed on one side- tang is about 6" long. wood scabbard has a great original enamel finish but has nicks and a cut notch into it. the Cloth grip looks original- Kashari/ Fuchi ... moreand the handle TSUKA- looks complete has matching Menuki( turtle or bat) and- sword has great design Tsuba. I estimate it to Edo period. The tang has one hole and is signed with 6 characters. Unfortunately I cannot read them. This blade has a big tip- O Kissaki- which is rare for wakizashi. The overall shape looks good with a strong curve. Measurements: Total length: 52 cm The cutting edge: 39.4 Width at Habaki: 2.7 cm Thickness at habaki: 0.6 cm Width at saki: 2.4 cm Thickness at saki: 0.45 cm Sori: 0.85 cm There is no scabbard but the original tsuka comes with this blade. Habaki is a 2 part copper habaki with former gilding. Can be seen when deattached. The condition of the blade is scratched. Corroded, pitted and some tiny battle nicks. These marks are ... morenot deep. Please see picture for condition. Please not that blade is slightly bend, just a little. The hamon and turn back of the temper line cannot be seen. Boshi and temper line should be visible after reconstruction polish because enough metal meat is there. This sword is in a found-as-it condition and no restoration is attempted. Early 1800's. Possibly earlier, beautiful Japanese sword handle with Royal Family chrysanthemum symbols. In 1869 the government reserved by law the use of the chrysanthemum mon to the Imperial house. Size looks to fit either a Tanto or Wakizashi. On either side of the handle, the menuki has two different family mon symbols, one is definitely a chrysanthemum. Authentic Japanese Samurai Sword Choji Mokume Wakizashi Civilian Mounts noNBTHK
Authentic Japanese Samurai Sword in Mounts This blade is guaranteed authentic. This is a real Samurai Sword. These blades were made by folding hard steel many times over and then sandwiching tougher steel in between. This made for an extremely sharp. Yet break resistant, sword. The temper line(hamon) is beautiful Choji(clove pattern) with some nice hatarake(activity) Utsuri is present. Choji hamon is a favorite of many collectors because of it's beauty. Remeniscent of the Ichimonji School of sword making. The jigane is bright. The hada is nicely worked Mokume(burling) in both the ji and shinogi-ji; also a kantei point of Ichimonji. The color of rust on the nakago, indicates this sword is old. I am unsure how old. This sword is mumei(unsigned) and has one hole in the nakago(tang) It looks to have had a gimei removed at some point. It was ... morecut down from a longer blade, as indicated by the temper line continuing through the nakago. The blade has normal patina. As one would expect to find on a sword from the era. There is some very light shinae in the shinogi-ji which will polish out. The kissaki was poorly shaped by the last togishi(polisher) but boshi is present. No fatal flaws. This sword is extremely healthy, seeing few polishes in its wakizashi form. I recommend this sword for restoration, as it should polish out fault free and beautiful. Cutting Length: 44 cm Motohaba: 2.9 cm Although authentic. As a disclaimer, I do not recommend that this sword be used for cutting, or use of any kind. It is extremely sharp and dangerous. The koshirae(mounts) are Gendai civilian mounts from the Showa Period. The tsuba looks to be very old. But is in bad condition. The mounts, as a whole, are in very good condition with normal patina. I may regret selling this one.

This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in shirosaya mountings. The blade is signed"Shinano Daijo Fujiwara Tadakuni 信濃大掾藤原忠国. Shinogi-zukuri shape. Edo period ca.1720 era made blade. The blade is in old polish, shows light stain but no rust and in excellent condition. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep turn back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, no opning. No blister and no forging flaws. It is rested in old ho-wood shirasaya mountings. No dent, no crack, no loose and in good condition. For auction is an antique Edo period Tsuka& Tsuba set. They are both in good condition. The tsuka is 5 3/4" long. It has large nodules of same' The horn kashira has a nice grain pattern. The menuki are Samurai with gold accents. The ito has one worn spot that I took a pic of. The fuchi'I believe is Shakudo& copper. Antique Japanese Sword O-Wakizashi with Wood Scabbard, Marked Tang 16th Century
Antique Japanese Samurai Sword. O Wakizashi, marked tang, with wood scabbard. We are very pleased to be able to offer for your consideration this antique Japanese hand made sword estimated age 16th century. This katana style Samurai sword has a smaller blade. And was most likely the secondary sword a Samurai would wear. Depending on a blade length between 12- 24 inches they were called either ko-wakizashi(shorter) or o-wakizashi for the longer version. This secondary blade was useful as a single handed sword, and it's length and weight made it an excellent design for close combat. This sword weighs 1.75 pounds, with the scabbard the total weight is 2.25 pounds. The tsuba is a very simple open design. The tsuka has a wrap that is somewhat unusual, there is ray fish skin, but there are no menuki and the wrap(ito) is solid on 3/4 of the ... moretsuka, with three open diamonds close to the tsuba. The fuchi is a simple matte black metal, but there is a insignia inside an octagon shape, flanked by a very subtle design of line work. There are only two seppa used, one on each side of the tsuba. The kashira has a worn design, but it carries a beautifully warm patina. The blade itself is a bit discolored(we won't clean it) but the edge is extremely clean and still very keen. There are no nicks, or fractures. The tang shows signs of oxidation, and it has been marked, there looks to be a white pigment in the marks. The tsuka is approximately 8 inches long. The blade is approximately 24 1/4 inches long. Condition- The overall condition of this sword is excellent. The scabbard is wood. It does have some issues. The scabbard is missing an inlay(see picture) the scabbard is also split almost the entire length. The metal tip and the trim piece at the mouth of the scabbard are keeping the two side together. Fabulous Small Wakizashi Japanese Sword Carved Scene Bone Handle& Sheath c 1890 Presented is a fab ulous small w akizashi Japanese sword. We would date this to the last few decades of the 1800's. The most prominent feature of this sword is the carved cow bone scabbard and handle. Featuring scenes of samurai knights, officials and women in traditional Japanese armor and clothing, all within a background of houses and countryside. Both the sheath and handle have bronze or brass fittings. The blade is of carbon steel. And could most likely take a good edge after some love and care on a whetstone. The sword shows a fair amount of wear from its long life. The metal tip of the scabbard is missing. And the bone veneer is broken near the second fitting at the back(see last photo) There are some checks in the handle. As it is. Japanese sword katana wakizashi tanto tsuba yari naginata samurai sword gendai
old original naginata with broken tip. i have showed this to a well known polisher who said it could be fixed with a full polish but to much money for me to invest. this naginata has been in a private collection since the early 70's sitting in a corner. i am not sure of the age or maker but i do know it is original and very sharp. there is no active rust or pitting on the blade but is very dark in color and i dont see a temper line. see pic's for more discription of the item there are no cracks or opening's on this blade.
