This has a beautiful wavy temper line. There is a blister at the mid part on the Ji and also just before the Hibaki. The cutting edge is in very good sharp condition with no chips or nicks. this is a Shinto era wakizashi. In some ways it looks more like a boy's katana. 14 1/4 inches long it is ubu one hole and mumei. Blade is in great shape and is not bent nor does it have chips but does have 1 nick. Black scabbard in very good shape with kurigata and the hook-fitting down the saya. Also has kozuka hole. Tsuba is water lilly pads and it looks like an Echizen tsuba maker, it is signed. Fuchi collar is plain but the kashira copper and silver inlay showing the Imperial Crest along with 2 other Kanji characters, meaning unknown tome. There are no menuki. This is a complete rig and good example of this type of waki and would look good on display.

These two pieces were produced at the end of the Edo period around the late 1800's after the war in the 16th century. Many tsuba and swords were baned. For auction is this 16th century Koto wakizashi in shirasaya. The blade is in mint fresh japanese polish with very sharp edge and crisp lines. Bright surface. There is a few tiny kizu due to age. Nothing bad or serious, in pretty good condition for sure. The hamon is especialy nice on thsi blade. The activities are clearly visible, very nice pattern. The tip is sharp looking and healthy with nice boshi with deep turning back. The tang shows deep patination. No signature, 2 holes. The blade is housed in good double copper habaki and shirasaya. NICE JAPANESE ARMY OFFICER SWORD WAKIZASHI
This is a nice example of an old mounted Wakizashi Sword Blade which dates from the Shinto Era and was most likely carried by a Pilot or possibly a Tank Commander during the War. It is mounted with an old hand-forged blade that wears a cutting edge of 17 5/8 inches in length. The blade remains in nice condition boasting a beautiful wavy active temper line that extends to the tip on either side however. The cutting edge reflects some abuse with multiple nicks and a reshaping of the extreme tip. The tang is unsigned and wears only one hole. The lovely hilt remains very healthy and is enhanced with gorgeous, detailed fittings. The old wooden scabbard is leather combat covered and does remain in nice serviceable condition with only some wear at the very tip. Mumei Wakizashi I am selling what I think is a Shinto era Wakizashi. The blade measures 17 3/4 inches. It has some rough areas. The Hamon is a Midare. I can't see the hada. I don't see any cracks. It has some surface scratches. It looks like someone was trying to cut with it. It is unsigned. The value of this sword is in its fittings. The fittings on this sword are real nice. The Tsuba is iron with a Tiger done in gold. I was offered $200 just for the Tsuba. The Habaki is Shakudo over Copper. Two of the Seppa are wrapped in Shakudo Foil. Shakudo Foiled Seppa are very rare and expensive. A third Seppa is Copper. The Fuchi and Kashira are a matched set. The Fuchi is iron with a Large Silver Flower with Gold Leaves. A Silver Butterfly and a small silver bug. The Kashira also is made of iron with a Large Silver Flower and Gold Leaves. ... moreThere is also a small bug. The Handle wrap is nice and tight. The Same is in good shape. The Menuki are a pair of Shi Shi and look to be Shakudo. The Saya is in very rough shape. It is only good for protecting you and the sword. This sword was purchased in Japan by a veteran back in 1956 as you can see from the papers and card. The sword remains in very nice old polish and has some minor surface scratches with some light stains here and there, but nothing serious. The hamon is a beautiful o-notare and packed with nie along the habuci. The hada is a nice itame and is forged very well with no kizu. The nagasa(cutting edge) is 18+3/4" width at machi 1+1/2" ... morewidth at yokote 7/8" and nakago is 5" This is a very beefy sword with excellent shape and nice kissaki. Come in shira-saya with silver foil habaki. You are bidding on an Authentic Japanese Wakizashi sword in Shirasaya. It is old as can be seen on the patina of the tang. It does not appear to be signed. I do not see any mei or makers signature. The blade has a visible Hamon, and is very interesting to look at. Blade looks to have a blister as can be seen in photo number 11. The blade is 14.5" long and the entire sword is 23" long. I have bought this Wakizashi many years ago from a reputable seller on eBay(daimyou54eb) The condition of the blade is that there are sone small flaws. It is an old-sharpened blade. The hamon is very strong and well executed Gunome midare based on suguha The Koshirae is old. Genuine and in the Edo period. It doesn't have a signature. What makes this wakizashi so special is that there is an old battle wound on the mune deriving from a sword fight It has a gold-colored emblem in form of 2 leaves at the Kashira and a wonderful Menuki. Tsuba is old but broken. A very pleasing and complete short sword ri g. It has $600.00 worth of fittings on it. At 15 1/2 inches long it looks almost like a child's katan a. The saya is in good shape with sturdy lacquer and black in color. The kurigata has nice old shitodom e. Tsu ba is a nice beautiful blac k shakudo color with a gold wash ri m with all the color left in it. I do not know what the design is. The seppa are h igh quality clipped edged one and look great and fit well. Fuchi kashira are also sha kudo with gold colored highlights including pine tree and vines. Co ndition o f them is excellent. Menuki a re high quality and deep gold and black color flowers. Wrap is not old but not new burgundy color double wrap cloth. A 20 inch super sweet slightly suriage one hole mumei wakizashi. Has a brilliant hamon and reminds me of Koto Kane Fusa. Although I have heard it looks like Enju school. Could be. Not sure. Wildly flaring but clean hamon and includes tobiyaki. Has a nice Namban Tetsu Katana sized tsuba in great shape. Hand guard size is 3" by 2 3/4" Habaki is a flawless silver foil with custom rain pattern Sword has 2 small chips one at habaki and one about 9 inches below the point. Some staining near the point but should clean up easily. There is some minor pitting near the mono uchi. The width at the hamachi is 1 1/4 inches and 3/4 inches at the yokote. Very pleasing shape. Nice clean Koto period blade for a wakizashi sword. Unsigned and probably shortened at the tang over its extensive live time. Showing good clean surface with few miner striations in the surface mainly along the spine caused by previous multiple polish, no deep blisters or chips, showing very active tamper line along the edge and around the tip area. With a nice lacquered wooden scabbard and copper habaki. Japanese antique sword - WAKIZASHI - signed Tamba no Kami Yoshi ? - 350 yrs old
DESCRIPTION: Antique Japanese sword WAKIZASHI mounted in fighting style. Assembled in the late EDO era KOSHIRAE. Some older parts. TSUKA: the t suka is made out of rare PERSIMMON WOOD. The fittings are iron fuchi and handachi kashira(held on with shakudo clips) menuki are iron fans with gold ribs. TSUBA: The tsuba is plain iron. With brass-lined hitsu ana, cca. 1850, late EDO. SAYA: The saya is mottled black lacquer with" kengyo" shaped Kojiri. Iron KOIGUCHI. Gilt SHIBUICHI ISHIZUKI and INSET GINGKO LEAF ORNAMENT. Lacquered horn kurikata with copper alloy shitodome. BLADE: The nakago has signature MEI: TAMBA(no) KAMI YOSHI? could be Yoshi-Michi. Or other Yoshi- smith. Period is likely the 17th century(1640-1690) Early EDO. Blade has good workmanship. The point has been slightly reshaped, the blade is"tired" though, from ... moretoo much polishing. Yoshi-michi was one of the most known and famous smiths in the YAMASHIRO province. The blade has a typical shinogi-zukuri shape and is in overall very good condition. No kizu or cracks, little rust. The hamon is midare or sudare-ba style, but it's hard to take pictures of it. Please. See pictures and judge yourself. The blade is made out of TAMAHAGANE. The metal(iron) that's been used in old Japan to make swords. The habaki is copper and old.
