It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. Eagle lock was in business from 1833-1954. So the age ... moreof the trunk lies in that time frame. It is adorned with black metal trim and ornate brass accents. This old trunk does show it's age in places. But there is nothing major. A few nicks, and there are a few dents or ding marks in the black metal trim. On the top front you will see there is 2 areas of chipped or worn off wood, a small amount enough to where wood putty filler should be an easy fix if you wish. There is also a very small chip place on the side you can see in pic 6. One of the hinges on the back is missing one button, see pic 9, and there is some separation on some of the brass corner pieces you can see in pic 12. I think I have mentioned every flaw. But please see all the pictures for the best description. For a trunk this old I consider its condition to be normal. Also, this would make a nice coffee table. the top is flat. This trunk is extremely old and is being sold for the purpose of someone who can restore it. The trunk is being sold"AS IS" When viewing the pictures be advised that the condition of the trunk is very deceiving. The pictures make the trunk look in much. Much better condition than it is. in other words the trunk looks better than it does in real life) The outside of the trunk has several different faded colors. The leather handles on each side are ripped at the center. It is dirty and needs to be cleaned. The inside has a few sections that can be removed. The pictures on the inside sections have spots on them. The wood seems to be ... moreintact. The hardware on this trunk is in rather good condition. Of course, it does need a good cleaning and polishing. After all that being said. This trunk is truly unique and will be beautiful if it is restored to its original condition. It is stamped Leibrich. Conrad Liebrich was an early lock maker in Philadelphia. He founded his business in 1836 and retired in 1869. This nice relic was dug from a Civil War campsite in Fredericksburg VA. It was most likely from a trunk lock. It is about 2 3/4 of and inch in length by 1 1/2 inches in width. Made of heavy brass. The suitcase is vintage I think from the 1930's or 40's possibly earlier The outside is a textured black covering over a wood frame with a navy blue Moire lining. There is one long hinge across the backside Not sure who made the suitcase. The locks are marked British Make and there is an oval with a feather mark The suitcase measures 25-1/2" wide by 12-1/2" by 7-3/4" deep. The suitcase is in good condition with some nicks. Very cool vintage suitcase from the WW 2 period. Has a beautiful dragon and the sailor's name painted on the front of the case. I did find a James J. Tamulonis on ancestry. Had him on muster rolls for the USS Hansford from Nov. 1944-April 1946. Can't guarantee it is the same man though. Leather with brass. Measures 24 x 12 x 7" Has a wooden frame inside of case. Is very worn. But still holding together. The frame is not straight, and the ticking inside is coming loose. Condition is ok for its age, hard to find one much cooler than this.

This is one BIG Vintage Trunk! It was made by Besbilt Trunk Company In Newark. N.J. USA Trunk No. 83117 It has a plate so if it were ever found you could contact the company and they would get in touch with whomever purchased/lost it. It measures 26" high x 40-1/2" wide x 24" deep. This trunk could be restored or used"as is" with all its character! Would be a great wide screen TV stand. End table or just hanging around for extra storage. I would say someone has added some paint to the outside. But it is rather industrial looking. The leather handles on both ends are missing. Hardware is in good condition. Corners are awesome! Sorry. No key. Hinges are nice and tight. Latches on the front work great. Inside has the usual wear and tear. But a lot of the fabric is intact. The bracket for the lid is not connected in the ... moremiddle any more. But that may be an easy fix. Inside tray is missing. Antique White 1800's Camel Back Steamer Trunk
I picked this at an auction and as I carried it to the truck a gentleman who appeared in his mid 70s stopped. He wanted me to know that his great grandfather immigrated from Europe in the 1800s and used this trunk to carry his items on the ship that brought him over. I love the stories and was glad that he stopped me. It is painted white and has been for a long time. It is solid. Sound and in great shape. Even the leather handles, which typically rot off, are BOTH in place. The inside, as you can see from the photos is beautiful complete with a drawing of a young woman. Desirable small size"Camel" Barrel Top Trunk. Fully Restored. Unknown Maker. Very similar to a 1909 trunk catalog reference, available from current owner. The interior is lined with white acid free paper and wheat paste was used as the adhesive. This is how it would have originally been done in circa 1900. The insert is original and recovered in white paper. The bonnet or hat compartment and parasol compartment lids are fiberboard as original. The lock does not work and key is missing. All nails/hardware used during the restoration are time period correct(square cut nails) It measures 18" x 28" x 16"

Period 18th Century Antique Carved Oak Storage Chest Trunk - RARE
This is a rare pre-1800 period oak chest or trunk. The chest features hand chiseled carvings or motifs on the front followed by a scalloped edge base. The chest has mitered corners along with hand forged hinges and nails. The lid braces were hand hewn and have distinctive worm holes that come with theses century old pieces of furniture. It is a wonderful old piece which reeks of character. The chest measures 351/2" by 13" and stands 16" tall and is in excellent. The inside of the chest is lined with newspaper from Boston in the 1800s. It has a patent date of November 8th 1864. It's papered covered with several places where the paper is missing. It also has a couple of missing nail heads on the first band and one of the bands has a break. There are a couple of splits in the wood on the top which is common in these old trunks. There is no key for this trunk. It would make a nice restoration project or displays nicely as is. Please look at the pictures as they are part of the description.
