I do not know what it was intended for. Possibly a small tea caddy, tobacco, or snuff box. It has been beautifully decorated with scrolls and foliage and vibrantly gilded inside. Antique c1900 Christofle(France) heavily silverplated locking box. Comes with a key and the lock works. The box measures 5 1/2" x 4" x 2 3/4" height. It is in good condition with only 1 tiny pin head size ding on the top that is insignificant and only mentioned for accuracy. The silver shows general light wear from use. There is some minor loss on the four corners of the base but none anywhere else. Stamped on the base 17 Christofle with a makers mark in use from 1862-1935. The box would be great for jewelry or any type of valuables and could even be used as a tea caddy or spice box. The inside is clean. Any yellowing in pics other than the base shots(9& 10) is only a reflection of the lights. Nice item from a quality maker. Starts low with no reserve.

Antique Victorian Walnut & Bone Strapped Tea Caddy.
For sale a Victorian walnut veneered tea caddy with bone strapping bordered by brasslike edging and held on by roundhead studs. The original lock is in working order and is complete with the original key. The veneer has one or two small splits in it and the bone strapping needs a little restoration and a couple of the roundhead studs need replacing, the inside of the lid is mounted with walnut and the base of the caddy as two narrow splits in it, there is also a narrow split along the rear of the lid, all this taken into consideration the caddy is a rare and nice piece which stands out in any environment. For your consideration is this wonderful old Chinese woven tea basket. This basket measures 9" x 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" It has bamboo handles and a metal fish clasp. Both of which are in great working condition. There are seven cloth figurines that adorn the basket. The lid has a velvet edge, which is where the top of the clasp and the hinges are affixed. Condition is as follows: one of the hinges is slightly loose. The very left corner of the upper portion of the clasp. A piece measuring perhaps 1/4" broke off at some point. On the inside of the basket, above the lower portion of the clasp, there is a breakage in the weaving. Some of the weaving has come undone on the inside top at the rear. With the lid in a decorative Tumbling Block pattern. Lifting the top lid reveals two interior Rosewood lids in the same Tumbling Block pattern with turned knobs. Intricate inlaid designs continue around all sides of the caddy. We see that the two interior lids appear to have some areas where the“sealer/varnish” has worn off. There is a bit of a rough area on the veneer on the top right hand panel but again, easily done, a few little bits of inlay to replace, some restoration needed for this box but no a major job, its in unrestored original condition, not messed around with, a very nice little project which would end in a very nice period tea caddy. This auction is for a superb 18th century Chinese porcelain tea caddy. This beautiful tea caddy is blue and white porcelain with borders carved into the porcelain. The lid is wood. The tea caddy measures 14.5 cm. tall x 10.8 cm. wide x 5 cm. deep. It is decorated with a floral& scrolling vine design surrounded by the carved relief border. The caddy is in very good condition. The only thing to note is a very faint small"spider" crack on the upper corner and a tiny flake chip on the side(see arrows in photos) The wood top has no chips. Cracks or damage but does have some loss to the varnished finish. The lid is an old replacement for what would have been a porcelain top. This auction offers a lovely vintage Norwegian tea caddy or jam spoon measuring 6" in length and the bowl which is more square with slightly rounded corners. With the widest part at 1½" wide. The spoon commemorates Bergen and Norway's most famous composer Edvard Grieg and violinist Ole Bull. There is a lot of nice detail on spoon including Bergen's Wharf wooden buildings on the front. On the back is"HS 60 GR" The spoon is in good condition weighing 1½ ounce, a heavier spoon meant to be used as well as admired. There are no dings or loss of silver plate, but there are some superficial scratches, which a good polishing may eliminate. The spoon weighs 1½ ounces. I am selling this simply wonderful official release china tea caddy manufactured by Wade Ceramics for Ringtons and made in England. The caddy was released to commemorate the 2002 Golden Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. My first Ringtons souvenir was a teapot for the coronation of King Edward VII in 1902. So they've been producing Royal commemoratives for at least 100 years. The caddy measures 6 1/2 inches tall. 5 1/2 inches wide and 3 7/8 inches from the front to the back. The condition is excellent and there are no chips. Cracks, hairlines or marks and no sign of any crazing. It's as close to pristine as you could get for 11 years old. RARE EARLY 19thC ANGLO INDIAN SILVER PLATED MILITARY CAMPAIGN TEAPOT / TEA CADDY

Rare early 19 th century Anglo-Indian silver plated campaign teapot with hinged lid and internal tea caddies. Of heavy gauge. It sits firmly inside a metal base which acts as a milk jug, the spout cleverly shaped to fit around the spout of the teapot. Internally there are two tea canisters with sprung lids which again are shaped to fit perfectly inside the body of the teapot. There are two ebony insulating discs at either end of the handle to help reduce the heat. The base is impressed with a stag’s head and‘SOONDER LALL P.S. AGRA’ along with the number‘216’ This number is replicated on the base of each constituent part plus the side of the handle and the inside of the lid indicating that these were all ... morecustom made to fit together. The only other examples I have seen of this teapot had a different impressed number so it would seem that this is not simply a model number. It measures approximately 9.75 inches(25 cm) from the handle to the tip of the spout. 4.5 inches(11.5 cm) tall and weighs over 1.5 kg. There is wear to the original silver plating as can be seen in the photos but otherwise in excellent condition with no dings or splits. Please see photographs for more detail.
