Up for auction is a small storage canister or tea caddy from the late 1960's. Made in England by the Royal Worcester group, just after they merged with Palissy. The pattern decorates both sides, and is known as"Sierra" featuring colored glazes in an abstract floral motif in tones of amber gold, browns and olive green, classic for that time period.The piece stands almost 4" high with a diameter of just over 3.5" The inside lid does have a rubber seal, making it secure and airtight, so is perfect for storing loose tea, ground coffee, sugar or powdered coffee creamer etc.There are no chips or cracks in this item and the decorative pattern is intact, however the body does have crazing throughout and there are some scratches on the lid and marks on the inside seal. Early 19th c. antique handmade copper tea caddy
Early antique handmade copper tea caddy I happen to love old copper and brass pieces that have that feel of satin from having been polished over and over and over. This sweet little tea caddy is possibly very old. It measures 5-1/4” tall 4-1/2” wide and 3-1/2” deep. It has some marks on the bottom– the number 12 in the middle and near the edge. The number 3 with the initials JM under the 3. There are also letters scratched into the bottom but they may have been added later. Possibly even scratched by a child. Hard to tell. Condition: Although this has quite a few dents to the surface including bends to the bottom rim and the edges around the top. It still looks good. But be aware that there are lots of dents and dings to this piece. It is in restored condition with replaced brass fittings and a small amount of stringing has also been replaced. Despite being restored it still has the blemishes of age and it retains a sense of character and age beneath a new wax finish. Please note there is also a corner of veneer replacement on the lid(see last photo) The two tea containers are mahogany with rosewood lids. The oints of the containers have been reglued. The interior is original and has only been cleaned. The containers have original led linings. There is no glass bowl. Many caddies are sold with replacements. I am skeptical about the tea bag idea because of the wide opening in the handle. More suited to attach to a mixing bowl, as well as the capacity of the cup. What about to drain cherries or olives at the bar? It is 2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide. Marked on bottom. The experts have now weighed in and consensus is it is loose tea strainer that allows the used tea to drain after you have poured your cup of tea.

A superbly designed sterling silver tea caddy. It is hallmarked for London 1905 with the maker’s marks being TB for the Thomas Bradbury& Sons. It has been beautifully made in the style of an earlier Georgian example being oval in form and having a carved faux ivory pineapple finial. It is in superb condition being free from dings splits holes and repairs(any marks are reflections from the photo tent) The inside is nice and clean with just a few tiny black spots. It measures a touch under 4 inches(10cms) wide by almost 4 inches(10cms) tall and weighs 146 grams. A superbly made very good quality example. This is for a very nice original arts and crafts copper tea caddy from the 1880s. It was made by J. Picard& Co of Regent St in London and retailed at their store in the late 1800s. It is stamped on the bottom along with a faded registration number. It has a strange crescent shaped handle on the lid and lovely solid brass legs with little roundrel feet. It is a nice looking and showy box and is in excellent condition with no damage anywhere and a nice warm patina to the copper. It measures 100mm(4" x 74mm(3" and stands 93mm(3.75" tall. Apparently tea caddies are very collectable; unfortunately, our knowledge on the subject does not go very far. This is English made, 19th century at least and very finely worked. The exterior is in excellent shape, the interior is pretty good too, however the center divider is loose which causes the 2 side by side lids to fit a little precariously. Exquisite intricate hand painting with moriage makes this a stand out in any collection. Mark is blue Imperial Nippon and hand painted dating it 1890-1921. Jar is 4 1/2" tall and approximately 3 1/2" across with rounded corners. It is in good condition with very small amount of paint loss. Artist shows beautiful technique and execution. The pierced handle is in a heart shape with scrolls as shown. The spoon has not been monogrammed. The spoon is marked“830S” with the Magnus Aase trademark and“NM” as shown. Carved Oak Musical Tea Caddy
On offer here is a Carved Oak Musical Tea Caddy dating from around 1920s/30s. The length is 6 inches. Width 3 ½ inches and height 5 inches. The inside is lined with thin oak covered in very thin textured foil, this lining slides out to gain access to the musical movement, which I am sorry to say I do not know the tune it plays. There is a flower carved on the front, and the word tea on the top. There is a brass catch and two handles on the sides, but they look like a clever use of parts of brass catches.
