With a Bat. Flying Dragon and Birds in flight, the woven silk tapestry features a Lake Scene with a Sail Boat/junk, Pagoda and Men. It appears as though the black highlighting in the piece was done by hand with black silk thread. Very interesting piece. CONDITION: Excellent although you need to know there are a couple of spots on the gold portion of the frame that need to be touched up- see photos. Also there are a couple of yellowed areas in the silk- most likely from age- on the right side of the tapestry. Welcome to my auction! Presenting for a auction an excellent example of Ecuadoran Jose Cotacachi's woven wool art. Much has been written up about him recently and it should be no surprise. Jose C.s weaves are nice and tight. That is what you want in a great textile from this area. I read that a piece similar in size to the one up for auction. Takes 4 to 5 days to complete. Jose C. lives in an area called Peguche, near Otavalo. People seek him out when they want to acquire nice examples of pre-hispanic style textiles. The tapestry up for auction measures 33 1/4 inches wide by 15 1/4 inches high. It features 12- 3 inch long natural colored wood with contrasting black tied bands. The background is a slate gray. Foot high woven images of four ecuadoran women line the panel. Each are wearing whitish wide brim hats. Their clothing attire are ... moredone in solid shades of brown. The top of the tapestry features a nice heavy wool braided cord that runs across the entire length. It is attached to the piece as a series of loops- ready for hanging! Condition: Very good. It has been well taken care of. I would date this piece to be from the 1970s. Very pretty tapestry top on this vintage jewelry box. There are some light water stains on it which I didn't try to remove. The box doesn't have any musty smells and doesn't appear to have been left in someone's basement. The wooden part of the box is in good shape with some small scratches. Hinges work nicely and are not rusted. When you open the box. There is the top shelf which can be removed. There is then more storage on the bottom. The material inside is a golden velvet. I didn't try to clean up the inside either. I would rather leave that to someone who knows what they are doing and doesn't ruin it! It measures appx. 8 1/4" wide and 6 1/2" high. Probably from the back of a chair or perhaps a curtain pelmet. Backed onto a thick double weave cotton with a mixture of silk and wool threads. Depicting a gorgeous rose flower motif surrounded in scrolls and curls and topped either end with what looks like a crown. Remarkably they are in excellent condition with no missing threads. The surround is a once vivid burnt orange which has now faded over the passage of time. There are tack marks and remnants of glue around the frayed edges. Each vignette is the same size however the surround differs very slightly on all of them. From an estate. You are bidding on a vintage 1973 calendar that is labeled as Made in Japan and is a woven tapestry design on the top of a blossoming tree with a mountain in the background. It states right on the back that you can cut the top part away and frame it if you so choose. That portion of the calendar is 11 1/2 inches wide and 10 inches long. There is one small brownish spot in the blossoms of the tree. I didn't want to ruin anything by trying to spot clean it so am leaving that to the buyer. Welcome to our Back Room! It’s here you’ll find fun and interesting collectibles we’ve enjoyed. It’s time for them to find a new home. This beautiful hand worked tapestry combines dozens of bits of fabric into a Farmyard Scene set in rural Colombia. Used as the front panel of a large Tote Bag. The scene includes a horse pasture, corn field, sheep grazing, a house, barn, trees and people going about their daily tasks. Using a combination of embroidery, applique and cutwork, the artist took great care to give detail and depth to the scene. Not a new piece. But never used, our tapestry bag is just about 15 inches wide and 12 inches from top to bottom. A 4 inch gusset has been added to the bottom and sides and the attached fabric handles are 24 inches long. The dark blue cotton twill bag has a zippered top and a small matching coin purse is attached ... moreinside by a cord. A small label attached inside reads"100% Cotton Cuyamana Handmade in Colombia. There is a word stiched at the lower edge of the tapestry reading in part"NAPAN. which is partially covered by the binding. By the very nature of the hand crafting.
