This is a piece of Century furniture. Century is located in Hickory. North Carolina and is hand crafted furniture. Century is made in the USA piece by piece. I love this piece because of it's Chinese feel. It has that red lacquer look with the little black specks but is just better made. This piece has rolling castors which make it taller but also make it easier to move. This needs 2 strong people to move it as it is very heavy. There is a high sheen to the finish of the table; The table is 18" deep and 48" wide. When the top is opened, it is 68" wide. The top is a black textured surface and I am not sure what the material is. It is in really excellent condition with the exception of a few light very surface scratches on the bottom shelf. We are not sure exactly what the age of the console is as I am the second owner. To the duel hand carved loin's head support pillars, this piece of formatter makes a bold statement, and will be the focal point of any room it is placed in guaranteed. The curio cabinet is lighted and has 2 shelves. It also features two dovetailed draws. It is in good vintage condition. I inherited it from my father who passed away, and I really wish I could keep it. Va or will deliver for $50(within 10 miles) For sale is an antique jacobean buffet sideboard lovingly restored to its former beauty with fresh Anne Sloan Paris Grey chalk paint with old white paint detailing the wonderful details. Very sturdy sideboard only repaired a few of the wood detail embellishments on the front. It is structurally sound and sturdy as is the doors and drawers. Drawers have dove tail construction. This piece is solid wood. They just don't make them like this anymore. The whole piece is sealed with clear wax for a lasting and strong finish. The inside cabinets on the left and right have been lined with a removable Paris fabric lining. To finish it off it has all new hardware pulls that complement the beautiful wood design. Enjoy. It still retains it's beautiful dark oak original finish. My photos are awful. The finish is dark like it looks in the photos but there is no light& dark spots like it appears in some of the photos. I believe it is the flash on my camera against the dark original finish. Stickley company makes a reproduction buffet similar to this original#89-711, retail price $6,537.00, the store I checked with in Chattanooga, Tn quoted me $4,249.05 plus $80.00 delivery fee. I am listing this original sideboard for less than the reproduction, $3995.00 which I think is a great starting price. It is selling without reserve which means that if you bid on this item it will start the auction ... moreand if no one else bids on it, you win the item, there is no reserve price. The item number on the back of my buffet is#5039, then it has 3 letters underneath the item number and the word oak, see photo. I'm sure Stickley Brothers Quaint Furniture was quite expensive when it was new just as it is today. The quality is just unsurpassed. You will see the beautiful backsplash, lovely original hardware, ect. but to find pieces with their original dark oak finish intact, well it's just nearly nonexistant. Thats what makes this piece so great is the original finish and the original metal label. The drawers are all dovetail construction as you can see from the photo of the one with the label, this is the silverware drawer. The felt lining was probably soiled after years of use so it has been removed as you can see from the finish inside this drawer. I have left this piece exactly as I found it but we can or you can reline the drawer quite easily. The condition of this item is great, tight and it only has the normal wear that you would find on a piece in original finish and for it's age. This is a very cool and unusual design with TONS of function in a sleek low footprint. It is comprised of a beautiful blend of woods(solid teak. Teak veneer, rosewood veneer and solid beech(drawer bodies) It features two sliding doors that when slid to the left reveal a very spacious open storage area in the middle of the credenza. When the doors are slid to the right you will find another storage area with three rosewood and beech pull out drawer trays. These drawers are all felt lined, perfect for this more delicate objects. You can also remove one, two or all three of these if you want additional open storage space. Moving on over to the far right side of the credenza, there are 3 pull out drawers with AMAZING ... moreintegrated sculptural handles. These drawers are larger the rosewood ones, allowing storage of bigger things. Supporting the credenza is an AWESOME floating base design in solid teak which really gives a nice airy feel to the already sleek piece. This beautiful old coffer has a flush panel top with a simple edge detail and a recessed waist. The openings around the 3 flush front drawers have a small bead detail. Below the drawers is a hidden storage space. Accessible when the drawers are removed. The front of the hidden space is a recessed flush panel with the bead detail around the frame and 3 nicely carved section. Below that panel is an intricate relief carved apron. Chinese Miniature Carved Rosewood Sideboard - Apprentice Furniture
Lovely Oriental piece of furniture. An elaborate miniature chinese sideboard with three drawers. Measures 13.5cm high, 25cm long& 7cm deep. I was told when i purchased this that the wood is Dalbergia cochinchinensis which is a form of rosewood. The tradition of making these small sized pieces of furniture dates back many years to when apprentice pieces were made before the full size piece of furniture was then carved. The top of this dresser is constructed from two pieces of oak. The dresser features mahogany cross-banding to the top and fronts of the drawers. The dresser base consists of three working hand dovetailed oak lined drawers which feature brass escutcheons and brass swan neck handles. The drawers are cock-beaded and fronts are cross-banded with mahogany. The top features a moulded edge design is repeated on the apron. The dresser frame is constructed using the traditional pegged construction method. The drawers are oak lined with the original backboards and the dresser sits on elegant cabriole shaped legs. Beneath we have an open rack with shelves and two outer banded shaped cupboards which feature three middle shelves and one internal small drawer each side. This rack sits in a moulded edge on the base. The base features a superb quality two plank oak top which is cross banded with mahogany. Below there are three drawers which feature the original brass escutcheons and handles. The locks on all drawers are in working order and there is a key. The drawer fronts are also cross-banded with mahogany. The drawers are pine lined. The base is supported by four reeded and tapered spade feet.
