INCREDIBLE hand carved English hutch/buffet/sideboard just waiting for that perfect spot in your home. Made entirely of beautiful dark wood. This piece has been meticulously carved by hand, and no opportunity for adding elegance has been missed. Includes all original hardware and mirror. This sideboard separates into two pieces in case you only want to use the buffet portion on the bottom. The sides of the hutch include intricately carved finials and small"shelves" for displaying your favorite small items(I used antique perfume bottles) and small painted plates. There is a small crack along the left side of the buffet close to where it meets the hutch, which I assume is due to its travel from England. You're bidding on a pair of color chromolithographic prints- they were originally plates from a folio entitled"Masterpieces of Industrial Art& Sculpture at the International Exhibition. 1862" published in 1862 by Day& Sons, Lithographers To The Queen" The exhibition was an early World's Fair. The prints are a nice size- 11 1/2" X 16 5/8" on heavy stock paper, with vivid beautiful coloration. Both prints are of sideboards, one with extremely elaborate design featuring a classical figure at center, the other dominated by an enormous mirror. Truly Victorian decadence of design. The latter has some moisture stains at the bottom, and some slight pressed indentions in the side margins on both sides, all of which could potentially mostly be matted out in framing. This thing is a whopper! Massive and monumental is a description it deserves. Walnut Victorian carved sideboard with rabbits and whatnot. The rabbits that are hanging are not composite but are solid walnut. Inlay work on doors and panels including the end panels are rosewood and walnut. Check out the oversized thick white marble that follows the outline of the columns. The ends of this sideboard are as fantastic as the front. Antique runner measures 66" long by 20 1/2" wide. Including the lace trim. This runner is made of sturdy medium weight natural ecru color linen and edged with heavy cotton crochet lace on three sides. Its designed to be used on a sideboard or buffet, hence the edging on three sides only. Condition is clean, strong, perfect with the exception of a finger tip sized mend, show in the photo above. The mend is 6" in from the back edge and 14" in from the left side, so its not in a very noticeable position. Very nice, usable piece of vintage linen. The lower doors magically slide and disappear into the side panels. Three drawers and three adjustable shelves in the server. Upper cabinet has two adjustable shelves with sliding glass doors. 1880 French Renaissance Louis XV. Profusely Carved Quarter-Oak Sideboard/Buffet. It has a very decorative pierced gallery with finials on each end. The top center has a heavily carved crown. The Sideboard/Buffet is made in three main sections. The base with two drawers and two doors with one interior. Removable shelf measures: 55" wide x 21 1/2" deep x 39" tall. The next section supports the top section with two columns and provides a decorative pierced plate rail. It measures: 16" tall x 12" deep. The plate rail is 4" deep with a 2" opening for plates. The third(top section) measures: 51" wide x 41" tall x 13 1/2" deep. It has 3 profusely carved doors. The center door appears to have been carved from one piece of wood and represents a man on a horse with a trumpet chasing a deer. Rare and Rooooomy American transition sideboard from the Art Nouveau/Aesthetic Movement era. No known maker- but exceptional carpentry! Three woods- Primary is Mahogany; Secondary is Curly Maple; Third is Poplar. 80"H x 60"W x 21"D. Three tiers of drawers. Top tier drawers are 5" deep. Two are 12"W. The center drawer is 24.5" wide. Second tier has 7" deep drawers, each being 25.5" wide(interior width) Third tier drawers are 9"D x 25.5" W. Solid wood, with no sagging, displaced joints or other issues. The top(mirrored) half detaches from the cabinet portion. The mirror is uniquely shaped, beveled AND original. Two 5"W shelves grace each side of the mirror, with turned pilasters supports, concluding with a double cornice pediment. The apron is also gracely curved. Solid boards. Mahogany itself is a rich reddish brown wood that can range from being plain in appearance to something that is so vibrant. Figured and almost three dimensional in effect. Although Mahogany was most often used in its solid form. The satiny finish is in excellent condition on this American made furniture. There are small losses. Shrinkage separations from age and touchups for antique character as shown in photos.
