Beautiful Pair of Vintage Satsuma Moriage Mantel Vases
A great pair of Vases. It is my understanding that these are vintage Satsuma Moriage Vases but I am not an expert and not real familiar with Satsuma. They measure 14.5" tall and 7.5" at its widest part. The primary color is an off white with gold. White and maroon accents. It is a lovely chrysanthemum pattern. They are in great condition and are a fabulous pair of mantle vases.

STUNNING ANTIQUE JAPANESE SATSUMA CHARGER DISH/ LOW BOWL Edo Period. C. 1850 Magnificent. Large Satsuma charger dish with outstanding hand painted decoration of the finest quality. The Emperor of Japan is said to be a direct descendant of Amaterasu. Clad in an ornately brocaded red gown. She floats gracefully in the swirling clouds, while beams of light shine radiantly forth. She is shown bestowing her blessings upon Jimmu, Japan's first Emperor, who is also artfully rendered in a flowing golden kimono as his long, silky hair blows in the wind. Elegantly hand painted with vibrancy and a lively sense of interaction. Intricate imagery and attention to detail with sublime scenery and coloration ... morewhich utilizes gosu blue. Indicating an early piece of Satsuma. Very fine crackle adorns the cream colored ground and much has been left uncovered in the tasteful style of Edo Period Satsuma Yaki. Very cultivated in the traditional Shogun era aesthetic. As the bowl is hand thrown, it is slightly out of round which is common for earlier pieces such as this. The piece is further adorned with intricate raised giltwork which highlights the spectacular decoration, completing the artwork in refined brilliance. See photos for all the gorgeous detail. Of significant size, this dramatic Japanese dish measures approximately 9 1/2" across and 1 1/2" high and is in excellent antique condition with no chips or cracks, just some very minor wear to the gilding commensurate with age.
