Listing Fantastic Fresh Estate Finds from all over the Eastern USA. Here is one of the finest antique Satsuma vases I've sold. An antique 1800's ... moreMeiji period Japanese vase. Signed by the artist on the bottom foot rim with a two character mark. It is a gourd style or bottle style shaped earthenware body. Thick heavy walled piece. With ring loop handles on either side. It comes with a period antique wooden base it sits in. Which appears to be original. The vase is amazingly and uniquely decorated with a marbled ground. Which was then heavily decorated by hand with moriage decoration all over it. Around the rim of the top. It has flowers. Around the body more beautiful chrysanthemum flowers. On one side there is a fantastic fierce dragon with great scales in moriage. And on the other side a beautiful large Phoenix bird with moriage feathers. Outstanding colors. I love the marbled look. ANTIQUE JAPANESE SATSUMA MEIJI PERIOD (1868-1912) DRAGONWARE TEAPOT MARKED
Dragonware is the term used to describe porcelain items with a raised decoration that depicts an oriental dragon and is a form of moriage pottery or also known as slip work/slip clay which gives the piece a three dimensional appearance. Most Dragonware were made in Japan(Nippon) The raised white designs are applied to the ware– most in the form of a dragon usually surrounded by wisps of smoke but other designs were also produced. White dragons are the major raised decorations on the dragonware. The background can be one of many different colors. It is still being made today but is not as nicely made. Depending on the manufacture of the collectible product more detail was applied. Dragonware originally was made in the late 1800’s. And is still being made today. However, there are very large differences in the quality of the pieces. The original ... moreNippon pieces have extremely ornate and very detailed large dragons that wrap around most of the piece. They usually have lots of enamel work around the edges of the item. The new Dragonware is also easily recognized, as the dragons are extremely un-detailed and appear slapped on and hardly wrap around at all compared to any of the older Dragonware pieces. Pieces that have enamel work around the edges are typically older than pieces that do not. They slowly stopped the enamel detail as the years went by. You may also find some Typically Dragonware was made as table items. Smoking sets or for decoration. This includes many pieces such as vases, tea sets, saki sets, ashtrays, plates, cups and saucers, condiment sets, wall pockets, incense burners and lamps to name a few. Many different colors were used on Dragonware items. The most common color used was the Smokey Grey with white or black with white. Other colors include: Deep Blue, Pastel Blue, Red, Orange, Pastel Green, White/Gold, Brown and Chocolate. There are also some colors that are always the newer low-quality un-detailed Dragonware, and were not made in the older pieces. These include: Pink, Bright Green, Purple

Antique Satsuma Vase, 4" x 4 1/2 ", 1860-1890
Thank you for checking out my listing. When I bought this little vase I loved it because of the fine workmanship. Highly decorative raised painted areas, and pictures of the little children playing. Recently I went to an appraisal event and found out that it was over 100 years old and had a value of $580. I was told it was a piece of Satsuma Pottery made between 1860 and 1890 belonging to the Meiji period; which was when the quality was at it's peak. The designs were inspired by the wood block prints. It stands 4 ½“ high and 4” at it’s widest part The vase is in exceptional condition for its age; no cracks or chips. It has the fine almost invisible crazing that is one of the identifying factors of its authenticity. The gilding shows a little wear from being handled and admired. I am told that this is good; There is some Japanese ... morewriting on the rim of the base which could be a signature. o`7.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk%601d72f%2B6mwimiu%3Eo%607-13e07c26eb7-0xfe-

copper & brass Oriental Antique 1800's Satsuma Pot / bowl
Oriental/Satsuma copper and brass pot Here we have a wonderful satsuma copper and brass pot. Beleived to be dating estimated from around 1800-1850, this is advice that was given to the last owner from a dealer and i can admit that i am not an expert, the dealer was french based and she had it appraised days after buying it in france to display in her holiday home. it is made from a nice quality metal. The shaped castings are exquisite! The general patina of the pot does show small signs of age but generally is great. The decorative brass peices are of exceptional quality but there is evidence of wear that has caused some smoothing especially around the handle which once i am sure was once very ornate. I would say the general condition of the peices are very good from a collecting point of veiw. There are sections where there are scratching ... moreand imperfections but a good hours worth of polishing would remedy this, please note the inner side of the pot is quite grubby, this such a beautiful peice, best i have ever had as copper pots go! This wonderful pot is a real grasp at history and a true insight of days gone. This will make a wonderful gift or a treasure in any collection! Dimensions- extremeties- 24 x 30 cm diametre at rim- 19.5 cm Please refer to pictures for detailed condition of this article Terms Please note I prefer payment through paypal and refuse payment by bank transfer unless discussed first. Rare Japanese Satsuma Figure of Kwan Yin, Signed, Late Edo Early Meiji Period
This superb and rare Japanese Satsuma figure represents the Buddhist goddess of compassion Kwan Yin. And dates from the late Edo or early Meiji period(circa 1850-1870) The figure is signed on the back at the bottom(see photo 6) and features beautiful overall decoration with red, gold and gosu blue being the primary colors. The figure measures 8 inches tall and 3 inches in diameter at its base. The condition is excellent. With no losses to the piece, virtually no rubbing to the decoration, and only two tight lines at the bottom measuring respectively 5/8 inch and 3/8 inch(see photos 8 and 9) These appear to me to be firing lines, something that is typical of Satsuma figures from this period. There are also four protective felt pads on the bottom of the figure(see photo 5) which I have elected to leave in place. Acquired from a major Massachusetts ... morecollector. This beautiful figure of Kwan Yin is a rare example of Satsuma created during the height of Japan's creative excellence in the production of this ware. We are offering it here with a low opening bid and with no reserve, in the expectation that it will achieve its appropriate value.
Kutani - Satsuma - Porcelain Figure - Old Man - pre 1862
Kutani- Old Man Porcelain Figure This was a very nice find at an estate sale. The description on the piece read"Kutani- pre 1862- Sold at action in 1985 for $1.350" The bottom does have the kutani marks- with the 九谷 symbols recessed in the bottom. It stands about 11" tall with a 21" circumference a its widest. I cannot find a single mark on this and it appears to be in perfect condition to me. I can't tell if the piece is aged looking or looked like that when it was made. Nevertheless. There is no chips or cracks. And since it was made before 1862 that's pretty remarkable. You can be sure when it is shipped it will be double boxed and insured for the value it was purchased for. Please look at the pictures carefully. All items are sold"as is" and it is the bidders responsibility to determine condition. ... moreI post many clear pictures and any specific question is welcomed and will be answered in a timely fashion. Vintage Satsuma Tea Set -- 1970s - Peacocks & 24k gold accents - 6 piece set
Vintage Satsuma Tea Set includes teapot. 2 cups and tea cannister Here is the information I found about this set in my research 1979 Satsuma Tea Set crackle glaze design bamboo-wrapped handle During the 1970s. Satsuma came out with this design so that the middle class could enjoy the beauty of their products. This was a tea set meant to be used as well as admired. This set appears to be in new. Never used, condition. The tea pot measures 5 1/2 inches high without handle. 6 1/4 inches from side to spout. Diameter of 4 1/2 inches. The cups measure a little over 3 inches tall. Diameter of 2 3/8 inches. The lid has a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The handle measures 4 3/4 inches wide. Height will depend on how you put the handle on. Tea Cannister is 8" tall with lid. 5" at widest point. 2 1/4" diameter opening at top The design is ... moreabsolutely beautiful. It features 2 peacocks surrounded by multi-colored flowers. The trim around the bottom of the teapot and around the tops of the cups. Is a burnt orange color with a gold gild design. There are 24k gold accents in the peacock design, Around the top of the cups, The top opening of the tea pot, Top of the cannister lid. And the top of the spout. The lid has a floral design on the top. This set is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks. There is a very small tiny chip on bottom of one cup on the raised portion of the bottom(what touches the table) cannot see it if you aren't looking for it. There is a couple little pieces of bamboo missing that wraps the handle. Beautiful crackle finish which is part of the design. And consistent over the pot. Cannister and cups. There is an indentation on the top of the lid so you can pick it up. Set would make a great addition to any home. Large Signed Satsuma Bowl with Geishas, Lots of Gold
We are lucky to have been given this WONDERFUL gilded Satsuma bowl to sell for our library! It is exceptional because it is large. about 11 3/4" across and 5 1/2" high, weighing about 8 pounds) and has LOT OF GOLD and, of course, the overall design of many Japanese-both men and women. The edges are scalloped into 10 sections. Of course. I can't read the kanji to know how old it is, but one would say late 19th to early 20th. It is in very, very GOOD-really excellent-CONDITION with a little rubbing off of gold on the rim. I am not claiming it is perfect; there may be some flaw I can't, as an ordinary person, detect, but I don't see any chips or scratches. The interior of the bowl has about 20 female figures with a pretty background scene of a building. Water, mountain, etc. On the outside of the bowl are again many women, ... moresome gold fan-type designs and seven men with women, but all have gold circles around their heads. I wonder what the story of this is? Also, around the interior rim of the bowl are five golden circles, as shown in photo#10; I wonder if they are related to the circle in the signature. there are raised areas painted heavier in gold on the cloth in g and heavier raised black on the hair of the g ei sha. I am listing this weight as about double the weight of the bowl in order to pack it well and add insu rance. Proceeds from sale of this wonderful bowl will benefit the Friends of South Berwick Library and will be used for more furnishings and equipment for our town library. Many thanks for your purchase. Items are donated to help our fundraising to fully equip our new library in South Berwick. Maine.
Antique SATSUMA Figure KANNON Goddess of Mercy GUANYIN Elephant
Up for auction is this beautiful. Old statue of, what is believed to be, the Goddess of Mercy and Compassion, Kannon(Kwan Yin) sitting on the back of an elephant. The piece rests on a wooden base, carved to fit the shape of the elephant. I am guessing that this is Japanese Satsuma pottery as marked, in red ink, on the underside of the elephant. The wooden base measures approx. 10" at it's widest point; the elephant figure measures approx. 8 1/2" at it's widest point; the entire figure on the base measures approx. 9" tall; and the figure, without the base, measures approx. 7 3/4" tall. The figure is in good condition. Please note: the wooden base looks to have been carved out to fit a lamp cord. Not being an expert on oriental pottery. I'm not sure when this piece was made-but please check out the photos and ... morefeel free to ask any questions. U. S. buyer to pay $25.00 shipping(this includes insurance) International buyers to pay $50.00 shipping. VA residents please add 5% sales tax.
