For sale are 2 Sets(4 Pieces) of old Japanese Cups and Saucers. They are a thin porcelain painted in wonderful orange. Yellow, brown,blue and green colors outlined in raised gold. The marks on the bottoms of all 4 pieces is a red Rising Sun with ST 573 inside the Suns center. The Cups measure 1-7/8" high and 1-3/4" in diameter, the Saucers are 3-3/4" in diameter; snaller than most demitasse cups/saucers. Fresh from the fabulous estate of a 95-year-old CT collector comes this beautiful mirror- image pair of late 19th early 20th century signed Meiji Satsuma bottle vases with lids. They are 7" tall and nicely enameled and gilded. With some wear to the surface and overall light crazing, common in Satsu ma ware of this period. Unfortunately the neck of the vase on the right has been broken and glued just as it rises above the crown of the bottle. I didn't even see it until I went to measure it AFTER I had photographed it. I looked at the repair with a loop and I think it was done with an epoxy glue. Which has a shiny enamel-like surface. Because of the white enameled decoration around the repair, it's not so bad, visually. Priced accordingly. A rare and hard to find pair and still stunning, even with the boo-boos. Here is a lovely antique Japanese teaset in Satsume and was made in the Kobe area. It has gold gilt highlights on red background for trim. Bamboo, and a village scene is hand painted on each piece and highlighted with gold gilt. There is a teapot that measures 4" tall by 6&1/2" wide, 4 dessert plates, 6 saucers at 5&1/4" 6 cups at 3" x 1&3/4" There is a covered sugar bowl and creamer with lid as well. This diplays to great advantage. Lady who sold it at estate auction recently said she got it when visiting San Francisco over 50 years ago and was told it was 100 years old then. From the Menji period I believe.

Up for bid is a Vintage Satsuma Porcelain Fan made in Japan from 1979. BEAUTIFUL! This Fan has a print of Peacocks with serene trees. Lovely floral and Gold trim in shades of Cream. Rust and Bronze with Soft Pink, Blues, Greens for accents. It is approximately 6 1/2" tall and 10" across. Delicately hand crafted honeycomb reticulation that is astounding on the outside as well as on the underside, as the artisan meticulously created intricate basketweave in not just a single layer, but precisely formed double reticulation. This cultivated incense burner further features lovely hand painted decoration with blossoming lotuses, an elegant patterned rim, and a single tiny butterfly resting upon the shoulder. Absolutely Stunning Satsuma Bowl. Antique though I am unsure of the period but very fine and delicate. I have tried to research the Mark but cannot find anything that appears identical to my western eyes. The Gold is everywhere and the Birds and Wisteria are exquisitely painted, and there is a Red and Gold Mark on the Base. Also, some tape on the base which I have not removed. Measures 6" Diameter x 2 1/5" High. The Rim is scalloped and the interior of the rim has its' own detail.
