Who is reading ... morefrom a scroll. On the reverse side, it is decorated in the reserve with flowers and butterflies. Golden bamboo decorates the panels between the reserves, while classic gold chrysanthemum and diapers adorn the top. This vase is Meiji period, circa 1890. It is signed in gold paint on a black reserve on the base. This depressed baluster shape. And the paint condition is good. However there are two tiny rim flakes shown in photographs. The Satsuma glaze is finely crackled as would be desirable, to reflect light. It has no damages. The gold enameling, which outlines the flowers, vines& leaves can be felt to the touch. It has a collared base that has three pads attached to protect the bottom. It measures approximately 8 1/4" wide by 3 3/4" high. This bowl's in very good condition with no cracks, flea bites. It only shows a few signs of normal wear, such as the gold enameling around the rim of the bowl being a little worn. This was a tea set meant to be used as well as admired. The tea pot measures 5 1/2 inches high without handle. 6 1/4 inches from side to spout. And has a diameter of 4 1/2 inches. The cups measure a little over 3 inches tall, and have a diameter of 2 3/8 inches. The lid has a diameter of 2 1/2 inches. The handle measures 4 3/4 inches wide. I was wondering if these were telling a story of some kind. The chrysanthemums are so delicate and elegant The detailing with gold gilding is magnificent. The vase has a mark on the bottom I couldn't match it but it is similar to a lot of the Satsuma marks. The vase is in good condition with no cracks or chips that I could see. The vase does have crazing throughout but that would be expected with a vase this age. The crazing is only noticeable when looking very closely and doesn't take away from the beauty of this vase. This little pair of vases were found in the back of the cupboard and they honestly didn't remember where they came from or how long they had been in the family. This Japanese Satsuma mille fleur bowl is of exceptional quality. The variety of flowers. Gorgeous colors and fine detail in the painting make it an outstanding example of this beautiful art form. Chrysanthemums, peonies, daisies, pansies and asters are painted all over both sides in purple, blue, green, red, yellow and white, then heavily embellished with gold gilt. It gleams of gold. The Satsuma Yaki mark is on the bottom dating it towards the end of the Meiji(1868-1913) period. It measures 3.75 inches across and 1.5 inches high. Very old and very interesting satsuma tea pot adorned with cranes. Flowers and butterflies. Looks like red coral or seaweed spreading over the entire pot and lid. Sea shell finial. I'm 99.99% sure the mark is kinkozan according to my huge japanese back stamps and marks book. 2 small chips on the underside of the tea pot lid as shown and inside the tea pot some of the glaze looks like it flaked off. message me for that photo if you wish; I used up my allotted 12. Gorgeous Large Vintage Satsuma Hand Painted Collectors Plate
This is a very beautiful large heavy Oriental work of art.Hand Painted Satsuma. It's just under 13" in diameter and weighs 3 1/2 lbs. It's very detailed and many vibrant colors are seen. Gold accents highlight the bird's feathers and the flowers. Gold has also been used around the border of the plate. On the back of the plate is stamped: HAND PAINTED SATSUMA. Also there is a gold foil sticker: UNDER STRICT SUPERVISION BY H.F.P. MACAU. This plate is in overall VERY GOOD condition with no chips. Cracks or repairs. I have owned and enjoyed this Art piece for many years and I hate to part with it but I must downsize my collectibles. I hope someone appreciates it as much as I have.

Card 46 Vintage Buttons, Glass Bee, Snake, Steel Fly, Metal Spider, Satsuma Swan
We continue offering items from a consignment that have been in a Southwestern New Hampshire family for years. As we have now discovered, back into the first half of the 19th century. My consignor explains; To the best of my knowledge my family were primarily farmers in Dublin. NH. There were several generations living on the farms at the same time. Farm income was supplemented by various means. Hiriam Carey was the Dublin carriage driver for Mark Twain and my Grandmother was a seamstress who also made costumes for the likes of Amelia Earhart and Joseph Linden Smith during their stays in Dublin. Though there may not have been a lot of money to purchase luxuries' or non essential items sometimes the family was given small things for either payment or in appreciation. My mother and grandmother were founders of a local button club and since ... moremy grandmother was a seamstress who made costumes for the Dublin Art Colony plays many of their special collected buttons were remnants of other peoples' purchases. Here we have one of five related cards. All approx. 8 1/4" X 11" with anywhere from 29 to 46 buttons that we will be offering. One card is titled, Found in the Bible, Book-Chapter-Verse given. Items on most of the cards are in alphabetical order, but other than one card devoted to animals I can discern no connection between the items on an individual card. The range of types and age of the buttons is great, from a one piece golden age with bible& In God We Trust" back marked"Orange Colour" to a modern wooden mouse with leather ears& tail. On this card we have 46 buttons ranging from 3/8" to 1 1/4" in diameter. A wonderful variety of buttons. Pewter whale is signed and dated(mostly illegible, date?1991? steel fly on concave surface has Paris back, Postal Service Eagle(unusual choice for"dove" is marked Waterbury Button Co.
