The pine burr quilt was adopted by the Alabama Legislature in 1997 as the Official quilt of the state of Alabama. These quilts took years to complete. This pine burr quilt is composed of 30 blocks(5 accross and 6 down) Each block has hundreds of scrap fabrics that were folded into triangles and sewn from the center out to create this magnificent design. This beautiful cotton 1930's Double Wedding Ring quilt was hand pieced and hand quilted decades ago. It has a lovely teal background color.The colors are nice and vibrant. With a nice selection of different fabrics"calico,linen,cotton" in different patterns and colors, used in the wedding rings for the era. The edges are scalloped and the separate teal binding is stitched on by hand. The back lining is solid light beige. I cannot tell you what the batting is but it feels like the traditional batting used in these old quilts.Which is cotton. The quilt is hand pieced& hand quilted. This is a patchwork utility quilt that was used for batting in a Civil War"rail fence" quilt. Most of the Civil War quilt was disintegrating and was starting to show that there was another quilt inside. I removed the Civil War quilt by cutting the quilting threads that held the 2 quilts together. The original quilting on the Pre-Civil War quilt is pretty much intact. There are lots of little cut quilting threads that haven't been removed. Many of the fabrics are still bright and undamaged because of being protected inside the Civil War quilt. Classic Vintage Beauty! Red and White, Double Irish Chain Quilt. 83" x 76"
Exceptional version of the classic Double Irish Chain quilt pattern in the simple color combination of red and white. I would estimate the vintage as 1920s- 1930s- but it could be earlier. The size is 83 x 76 inches. Hand quilted by an expert with a meticulous average of 8 SPI. Cotton fabrics. Solid red and solid off-white or cream. This is a light weight quilt. I don't believe that there is any batting between the backing and top. The backing fabric is turned forward and it looks like the quilter used her machine to stitch the very narrow binding. Nice wide red border. In terms of condition. The quilt is strong and in very good shape. There are no tears or holes. There are some small, light spots on the backing and also a few on front. Looking very closely I believe that there is some light fading to the red fabric. I also saw one tiny ... moremended area. In one corner on the backing it appears that at some stage about four tiny letters or numbers were written in ink. It might have been a date. It looks like the first backing is hand woven wool. I did a burn test to a tiny piece of the first backing and it smoked but did not burn. Wool does not burn, it only smokes and puts itself out. It is naturally fireproof. The red backing also appears to be hand woven under magnification. The triangle fabric pieces are hand pieced. ... moreProbably the quilt was originally hand quilted. Somewhere back in time it was stitched on an old treadle machine. The thread is very thick under magnification. I think it should be displayed in a museum because these are getting harder and harder to find. And they are an American treasure. This is a beautiful antique work of art. The Great Grandson of Josephine(MacWirths) Carl is selling this quilt that she started sometime after she attend the expostion and completed in 1904. She was from Buffelo N.Y. and married Otto Carl in 1885. She attend the 1901 Buffalo Exposition. Where she purchased the squares to make the quilt. She signed the quilt"From Grand-ma Carl 1904" one square. There are 48 squares total. 1 square is of"Wm McKinley Our martzed President" and the square above that one says"Temple of Music Where President McKinley was shot" 1 square of the Flag with 13 stars, along with many of the buildings at the fair. The quilt measures 61" x 75" Does have many brown spots(could be rust) and one corner has what looks like dark spots. White looks faded from age of 110 years. It really needs to be cleaned. There are several ... moresmall wholes from wear. Some of the edging also shows wear. limited to 12 photo's so can't show all the spots or wear. This quilt has been in the family for many years. It is now time to find a new home. Quilt measures 63 x 78 inches. it is very well made as you can see all the stars stillline up perfectly. It has tiny stitching, usually about 6 to seven stiches per inch. It does have a few worn places and I found a small hole. Has a few stains here and there. Buit this is patina. I am sure this quilt was used in homes with only a fire place in winter and not insulated here in the south. I carried it to a local antique shop and they appraised it at $250.00 to $300.00. This is an auction for a Very Old Antique Log Cabin Quilt. The quilt is done in a variety of cotton fabrics in calicos and plaids. Most of the quilt is done in fabrics with a brown or beige colors and there is some grays and some blues and some reds. The quilt is hand sewed and hand quilted. I did see some sewing machine stitches on the binding fabric. The quilt measures 70" X 82" Each block is 10" X 10" She sewed a piece of cloth along the top edge of the quilt. Maybe to prevent it from to much wear. Not quite sure! So the quilt is really old and there are lots of worn areas. There are 49 blocks and 22 of the blocks have some damage. Some have just one small strip that is worn and others have lots of wear. Not sure. We purchased this quilt at an Ohio auction 20 years ago. We believe it is early 1900s but not sure. We've loved this quilt's simplicity and the beautiful cornflower blue color with white edging in a white X-block pattern. All cotton and all hand-stitched. It is a lighter weight cotton and was used very lightly in our guest room. The size generously covered a full-size bed. It has been in a very clean. Non-smoking home for the last 20 years. No odors. There is some wear to a few of the white X's which I tried to show in the images. Only one very small stain that I can see also on one of the X's. The back of the quilt is a lighter. Complimentary blue that is in excellent condition. No fraying on the white border either. We have loved this quilt!

Antique Quilt Top Very Early Fabrics 1830-1880
This old top is rather confusing and seems to have been added to over an extended period of time-it's a great study piece. It is large measuring 88 x 108. It was originally larger but has had some of the border removed to cover some damage; this was carelessly done much later and with a sewing machine. The oldest fabrics are second quarter of the 19th century. The newer fabrics are closer to 1880. It is all hand stitched. But appears to have been done by different hands and with different types of thread. It has damage, some water staining. Pattern is Blazing Sun, Rising Sun or similar patterns. Buying as is.

Vintage Patchwork Quilt Top - 65" x 81"
First. Understand that I don't know anything about quilts! I got this from an estate auction. I understand that this quilt top is made from vintage fabrics, probably from the 60's and maybe the 70s. It measures approximately 65" by 81" This is a the top only. Not a completed quilt. I did get several completed quilts in the same estate sale that I will be putting on Ebay shortly. Vintage 1930s Feedsack QUILT TOP Hand Stitched 63" by 84"
This is hand stitched. There is one small stained area(see photos) One center is missing. The squares are 12" and the unbleached muslin centers are 6" squares. The centers are slightly puffy. They have been made this way to allow for some stuffing. I saw two small holes- one on the muslin border and one in a figured triangle. Colors are bright! We have not washed this but it has no bad odors. This has been stored in a dry. Smoke free home. We do combine shipping for a savings on shipping- please wait for invoice to pay. This quilt top has double dyed pink. Rich turkey reds, and lancaster blue pieces. It is treadle pieced. It measures 81 1/2" L x 75 2/3" W. This quilt top is in very good condition. Never used or washed. There are a couple of age spots ranging from rice to about penny size. One tiny rice size hole, two short original print flaws, and two pieces of an original paper sticker on the back as shown in the photos. There is also some very light tanning on the pinks and there is light tanning and age spotting on the pieces with the off white background, all of which was too light to photograph. Antique c.1930 LOG CABIN in DIAMOND Quilt TOP
Here is a partly hand pieced. Partly machine pieced hand quilt TOP circa, I believe, 1930. It is Log Cabin Pattern set in a Diamond pattern. It measures 72 inches long x 72 inches wide. The fabrics are varied and all appear to be from early 1900's clothing such as men's suits and ladies dresses and blouses. There are classic wools and cottons and silks. Some of the silks have popped(see photos) PLEASE REVIEW ALL 12 PHOTOS showing details. There are no odors. And I have not laundered the quilt top. It is as found. Please ask questions before bidding.

VINTAGE HAND PIECED QUILT TOP STAR PATTERN 102" X 88"
This is a vintage hand stitched quilt TOP(IT HAS TO BE QUILTED) It is a large top measuring 102" x 88" The pattern is a star made of diamond shaped pieces. Light tan squares and triangles complete the quilt block. One block measures about 13 to 14" square. There are five different color combinations used-dark green and yellow; red and royal blue; dark green and gold; light green and tan; and light brown and light green.The colors are brighter than what shows in my pictures. The blocks have been put together with a red strip and a light tan square where the strips meet. This will be a beautiful quilt when finished. Thank you for looking at this item. Hand Pieced Quilt Top Dark & Light Blue Solid 30's? Chrysanthemum Star Blocks
Shades of blue quilt top. Octagon blocks, blocks are hand pieced, I'm guessing these are 30's fabrics. There are two pictures of the back to show the stitching. I think the rows were machine pieced. It is 75" by 67" roughly. Excellent placement of light and dark for overall effect! I don't know what this pattern is called. Maybe a type of star? If you know tell me! It does look like a chrysanthemum petal. I think. On the box it was in. Was written"Quilt tops hand made by Grand Mother Julia Fekel" A quick search reveals that she was born about 1895 in Austria. In 1940 lived in Landisville NJ. There was another hand pieced quilt cover in the box with pretty 30's fabrics in it. Listed separately) There is one tear. See the last photo. The back is the same dark blue fabric as the front. I'm including the ... moreback in case you want to repair or replace anything. The back is badly worn. Lots of holes,around the perimeter, but the center is fine. This is unwashed. Just as I found it, there are some stains that I've included photos of. The very dark spots on the first picture are water drops that were on the floor before I laid it down. Woops! This is a very old quilt top only. Not a whole quilt. 19th C. New England Quilt Top Best Fabrics Turkey Red & Blues AAFA
I hesitate to call this great 19th century quilt top a cutter. As there is some small damage to one square in one of the blocks, due to a mouse nibble, that could be easily repaired/replaced, as this is a fantastic looking early textile-could be finished into a very nice quilt, or the blocks could be separated for other uses too! Measures approx. 74" by 89" each block is nice and large at approx. 12" by 12" The border and sashing fabric is in the best turkey red cotton calico with a black design-all very vivid and bright! I see a tiny hole on the red sashing near where the mouse hole on the damaged square is located-could be easily patched or repaired. Sounds so much worse than it is, but trying to mention all, for sake of accuracy! Found right here in Maine, fresh from an attic trunk, this quilt top has never been used ... moreor washed-even has some of the sizing left in the fabrics-feels nice and sturdy. It is beautifully hand-pieced together-all of the fabrics are great 19th century colors and calico patterns(with only the slightest amount of fading on one of the blue pieces of fabric-hard to see, but again, want to mention) Shipping will be $8.00 to include careful packing with insurance. i have only good things to say about this beautiful soft green with multicolor flowers flower garden quilt top. It is all hand cut and hand sewn and every piece is close to perfect as you can see in the pictures, the white is all unbleached muslin, and the flowers are all cotton, it looks its age but has no stains or unsewn places, some one has trimmed the top and the bottom, but no damage,to the quilt top. this top has never been washed, it is an estate find so im not sure of the date.

Vintage quilt top does bear some brown spots and holes. Please check pictures closely as it is being offered in"as is" cutter condition. The piece measures 82 inches by 82 inches. Beautiful 1930's quilt top. Great colors and awesome graphics on the fabrics! It measures 63" x 87" Some of these fabrics are sear sucker. There is one piece of fabric. That was made from silk, that needs to be repaired(see last pic) There are some age spots that I will leave up to buyer to get out. All in all a very awesome and unusual quilt top.
