This is the printed portion only of a tee shirt(two pieces. Front and back art of a tee shirt) I was given during Desert Storm by a friend who returned from Diego Garcia& Iraq. These tee shirts were designed/made in Gulf for U.S. soldiers to commemorate their participation in the campaign there. The full tee shirt has worn out. But I had the foresight to clip out the front and back printed areas so they could be framed or sewn on to another tee shirt. This is authentic. Some soldiers who were there will recognize it. I value it too much to simply toss it because the rest of the shirt wore out. And it has value as a military memento. On what appears to be just a regular cotton tee. The colors are very bright and vibrant- some are delicate pastels and others are bold. All have solid yellow centers with a solid color in the second row and a floral print in the third row. There is one block with white hexagons sewn in. Making a fourth row. There is some faint yellowing along some of the edges and here and there. But no stains or spots that I could see. Quilt and 2 matching pillows made with hand sewn quilt blocks made in the 1920's of colorful cotton feed sack fabrics. The quilt blocks were later used to make the quilt and pillows. The quilt measures approximately 96 inches long and 81 inches wide; it is displayed on a queen size bed. The pink fabric front and back has batting in between and there is a white border on all sides. The quilt and pillows have been quilted in a floral pattern; I think the quilting stitching was done by machine. The quilt blocks are cotton and the pink backing material is cotton or a blend. The two pillows have white eyelet trim and floral fabric on the back and they measure 16 inches across. This set has been used only for display and has no soil. 72x82 Patchwork Quilt. This is done in the bowtie pattern. This quilt is in good used condition. It still has some life left. I noticed some fading in the colors. The back has some bleeding from the red fabric.There are a few spots on the back that may come out if cleaned. This is one of several that I will be listing. Old Novelty Print Fabric There is 1 5/6 yards of this 34" cotton fabric plus an additional 20" by 17" All one piece. The small print pattern of blue and white diamond with red flower makes it great for quilting projects/repairs. I would guess it's age at 1930s-1950s. It does have some yellow age spotting(I tried to show in the pictures) and along the edge in places it has some dirt/spotting that goes about an inch into the fabric, even with these problems there is a lot of great fabric to use. Antique Quilt- Vase of Flowers - intricate machine work - appliqued
This was handed down in the family to me via my father who inherited it from his cousin Geni Kendrick. It was used on her bed at the time of her passing(about 1970) It was made by her grandmother according to my Dad. The name I listed is how I read family information from my father. The details of the quilt include very fine machine stitching of a design appliqued on the quilt. It is made om 16" blocks that are then stitched together by hand. There is a 5 1/2" border that also has appliqued scallops on it. The machine work on the quilt is beautiful- check out the piece I show that is plain white and the last picture is the back of the quite that shows the intricate stitching that as beautiful as the front. However. I must disclose that there are age stains on the quilt and picture 11 shows some material deterioration. The quilt ... morehas been used(before my time) and shows some color wear through on the red in the vase and flowers. Obviously it was a treasure that was much used. I have not tried to wash it. The pattern was created with kite-shaped swatches that form the"periwinkle" and a regular octagon. The main color is white. The"periwinkles" are made of colorful fabrics that have faded over time. Offering now a very poor contrast, as you'll notice. It seems this particular pattern. Antique Vintage Basket Quilt 1930s Expert Quilting Well Worth Restoring Applique
I was really tempted to keep this beautiful quilt and restore it myself. But I have way more projects than I need! This came from a thrift store that uses their proceeds to help support a free clinic, so I don't know this quilt's origin. Sometimes I wish quilts could share their stories. By carefully looking, I could see that some of the appliqued basket handles, leaves, and flowers had been removed. Since there is very little wear to this quilt, I have no idea why this was done. The quilting is in good shape with the exception of an area above the uppermost left-hand basket, as shown in the last photo, where the quilting is gone. Otherwise. The places where the handles should go and the leaves and flowers go already have the outline quilting to go by. So it would be fairly easy to applique new handles, leaves, and flowers on to restore ... morethe quilt. The green of the leaves and the handles do not exactly match, so I would think it would be possible to find a solid green that would work. Using some green cotton seam binding might be the easiest way to do the handles. The area in the last photo that needs requilting shouldn't be too hard. Either, although the batting has shifted some. I gently laundered this quilt and it came out beautifully. The lavender backing and sashing has very, very minimal fading. You can see that in Photo 8, the one showing the binding on the corner. This lovely quilt has a thin cotton batting. And measures 68" across, and 74" up and down. This is a TEN-DAY auction. There is NO RESERVE. ANTIQUE YO YO QUILT Selling a truly amazing antique yo yo quilt. This quilt dates from the 30's. There is a lot of really bright and colorful feedsack and cotton material in it. When I say colorful I really mean it. Check out the pictures and enlarge them to really see the colors and patterns on the material it's made from. There are 1.944 11/2" individual circles, seriously. These types of quilts tend to fly under the radar because people don't realize how really great they are& how much work it takes to make one. Each circle must be cut out, a 1/4"edge ironed all around, a running stitch through each circle, gathered into a small circle and tied off. Then all the circles must be hand stitched together. A really HUGE amount of work but a great way to use up all the little bits and pieces from other quilts. There ... moreis a lot of really great old material used in this quilt. Only the really thrifty quilters would do this much work. The quilt measures approximately 59 x 89" I checked the quilt and there doesn't appear to be anything wrong with it. But I was getting cross eyed after staring at it for so long. There are no mildew, musty or tobacco smells. This was the first quilt I bought back in 1978 at a fair in Chicago. I knew nothing about quilts at that time but thought it was really bright and happy so I had to have it. It's time now to let another collector enjoy this treasure as I have all these years. Antique Vintage 1 Primitive FEEDSACK TULIP QUILT BLOCK c1930-1945. This adorable quilt block is approx. 8.5 to 9 inches square as in pix#4 and 12 inches on point as in pix#1. The Tulip itself is typical 1930's-40's colors of BROWN. YELLOW, ORANGE, with accents of green and white, and it has 2 large NILE GREEN LEAVES. The fabrics include an off-white FEEDSACK background, apron and dress fabrics of the day. Very nicely HAND APPLIQUED. Excellent condition. Strong and sturdy with stitch marks along the edges. Has never been laundered, no fraying. See the last pix for a close-up of the back. Perfect for quilted wall-hanging. This is a lovely lot of 48 quilt blocks in the Grandmothers flower garden pattern in vibrant colors. Lots of patterns and solids. All hand stitched. All of the pieces are from feed or flour sacks from the 1930's and 40's. Each piece has 19 pieces. The blocks are 9 inches in diameter. I have shown pictures of all the blocks and have shown pictures from the back of 2 of the blocks and they are all the same and were all done by the same person. They have been in my family ever since they were made. No rips or tears or worn spots, no stains, never has been used. They are beautiful. patterns are so nifty and the hand work is great. Vintage Hand Sewn 100% Cotton APPLIQUE QUILT TOP; Special FAN Pattern; 72" x 71"
The fabric used for the blocks is old cotton. Getting a little cream in color already; it might be sail cloth, as it feels a bit like a thin canvas, but it might be also fabric from feed sacks or flour sacks, we are not sure. The fabrics used for the fans are also old. And they might come from feed sacks, but we are not sure, so please check our close-ups and judge by yourself. The makers used a limited number of fabrics for this quilt top, so there are many swatches that appear on several of the fans, although the order or sequence of the fabrics is different from fan to fan. The actual fans are appliques. Sewn by hand to the sail cloth squares. One type of stitching is very loose, but the one on the edges is tight. It might be this quilt top is a bit"unfinished" we are not sure, please check the close-ups. The blocks are sewn ... moreto each other by hand. The fans were organized in a peculiar way. And that's why we call this"special" pattern. There is a 4-block center, and then the fans are placed in a"concentric" way around the center. Difficult to explain, but if you see our photos below you'll understand what we want to convey. The shape is almost a square. But it actually measures 71" by 72" a bit off a perfect square.
