Exceptional Vintage Crazy Quilt Great Silks and Fabrics Used! This is the second of two crazy quilts that I am listing up for auction this week. If you collect crazy quilts or just love to decorate with them. Please take the time to check these listings out- they are really special! A masterpiece of Victorian embroidery. This crazy quilt is all hand pieced together with wonderful hand embroidered embellishments on velvet. Lovely embroidered florals and with ribbon that dates it to 1884- however I am sure it was started well before 1884! The ribbon that has been stitched into this great quilt was a prize ribbon: La Chocolatiere Boston 1884 Y.W.C.A. History of the YWCA: 1884 In 1884 YWCA Boston builds the first gymnasium for women. The provision of health and fitness services for women was an unheard-of idea at the time. And the fact that women ... moreplanned to build the facility was viewed by many as a bold move doomed to failure. The YWCA Boston not only succeeded in building the facility at the Berkeley Residence and paving the way for future female developers but also helped to foster social acceptance of health activities for women. It features the initials"F.A.S" expertly stitched into a square in cream color. The beautiful part of this quilt is that it has four highly decorated fans on each edge of each corner of the quilt. It has been framed in a what once was a burgandy colored velvet has now faded into soft rust or brown. The back is gold silk. I believe that damasks and satin fabrics were used also. Please see the pictures! This quilt is clean and measures square 60" x 60" There are fabrics throughout this quilt where the fabric has deteriorated over the years. The quilter used pretty florals and solids to make this soft quilt look great. She also used different color threads to make the"X" stitches all around. Golds, greens, red, pinks, greens and browns were all used. It has a pink back and is tied with green and pink thread which is apparent from the back. The back is pink and is a silky material. What I love about this quilt is that there are lots of browns and turquoise fabrics used. It6 looks like it has been stitched with what I think is the"Feather" Stitch. It is backed with a Flannel Fabric& has been lapped over the top of the Quilt. The backing looks to have been machine sewn on, but has been hand stitched again around the edges. Very well made. It measures 70"wide& 90"long. Beautiful OLD Wedding Ring pattern finished quilt Handmade 85 X 70
This bid would be for one beautiful wedding ring pattern quilt. I believe that is what you call this pattern. This is a finished quilt with a thin lining. I do not make or collect quilts- so please view all 12 pictures as they are a part of this description. I believe this to be a hand-made quilt. Hand pieced and hand sewn except the edging may have been machine sewn. The edging is fraying somewhat. But I do not find any other rips or tears. It does need a cleaning or soaking, but no stains that I see. I do believe this to be an older quilt, but for those of you that know your material may be you can figure out the age of it. This was purchased at an estate sale. I believe it to have been stored in a smoke free environment as I do not smell any foul odors on it. Cheddar, and fugitive blue flowers and wreaths. This quilt has a flower vine appliqued border. Quilted feathered leaves. Flowers, and hearts are though out the background with 1/8" rod quilting. There is one tiny quilted hand print. How sweet is that? Expertly hand quilted at 7-9 stitches per inch. Treadle bound. Measures 78 1/2" x 78 1/4" In good condition. This lot includes 5 long strips of triangles. All are 7" wide. That is the base of the triangles are 7" Two matching stripes include muslin and a print cotton of roses, leaves and hips they are 90" long. There are 2 strips of plain turkey red that are 90" and 44" long. There is one strip that has two prints with the muslin and that is 90" long. some storage dots but nothing serious. They are hand sewn. Nice to incorporate with other reds, blacks and natural muslin.

Cheddar, and green colors. There are two squares that have pieces that only have the cheddar and fugitive green colors. Age c 1880. It is hand bound in a very light green color. It is hand quilted at a masterful 9-10 stitches per inch. It has a quilted design in the squares without pieces, a quilted diamond grid, lines. So sweet. There are three quilted baby hands and a baby foot. One of the hands has something stitched in the middle of it but it can't be made out. How touching, the mother included her childrens' hands or footprints! Measurements: 67" x 77 1/4" Appears never washed. Vintage 1920's 1930's Depression Cut Fabric Quilt Pieces Plus Quilting Templates
Vintage Depression Era Cut Pieces For Quilting Dating from the 1920's or 1930's. A group of cotton calico(some blue calico) and solid fabric pieces that have been cut for quilting. Most all patches have never been assembled into quilt blocks. There are two shapes of pieces, one a diamond shape and the other a fan shape. Included with the fabrics are the hand cut templates for making. A hand written note on the back of the fan template calls for 14 patches in one block and 56 blocks for quilt. No mention on the diamond shape template. Size of the fan fabric patches: 3-1/8" long x 2" wide at the widest point. The diamond shape measures 2-3/4" x 4-1/2" The patches have not been counted, however, there are a lot of both shapes. November. 1887- April 1888 Della Heath Turkey Red Work Quilt/ Coverlet with 90 Squares Size: 9 Blocks Width 69" X 10 Blocks Long 72" Including Binding I would so love to know the story of the creation of this piece. The unusual items to catch your attention are: 1) There are 3 different shades of red embroidery thread- Most is a dark. Turkey red, while some is a little lighter shade of red and some is pink. 2) It looks as if the blocks were embroidered by 2 different people. The embroidery stitching on some of the blocks looks child-like and not very skilled. Whereas the other blocks are stitched by a well practiced embroiderer. 3) Many of the blocks appear to have been stitched using a pattern on the block. Then there are those that appear totally stitched free-hand, using no pattern to follow. 4) Within the 90 blocks there is ... moreGREAT DIVERSITY of subject matter: Flowers. Birds, Farm Animals, Camel& Lama, Buffalo, Owls, Berries& Fruits, Puss in Boots, Solid Comfort, Scenes of Children Playing, Portraits, Poultry& Game, Hunting Scenes, Monogram Letters, Mothers holding/ kissing babies, Horses and a Horseshoe. Some blocks show typical 1800's upper class people and scenes, yet there are a few that have a Black Americana depiction: A log cabin; An Aunt Jemima type Nanny caring for children; Three Afro-American faces; and a Pheasant Woman dressed in aprons as a maid. Makes me wonder- was this quilt used by an adult to teach a young girl to embroider? Could it possibly be a Memorial Coverlet for a Child's Death? Who was Della Heath? I believe it was sewn by her between 11/1887 and 4/1888 depicting typical scenes she experienced and witnessed in her daily life. She may have been the Nanny or the servant to an upper class family. Living in a log cabin on a great estate, with farm animals and horses, and where hunting took place. The scenes show much love and happiness. I wish I knew her story! ANTIQUE 30's 40's HANDMADE COVERLET QUILT HAND SEWN APPLIQUE DRESDEN PLATE 60X80 Up for auction is an Antique Coverlet from the 1930's or 1940's. It measures 59 inches by 79 inches. There are many different fabrics used and it is incredible hand sewing done. It is hand sewn with the Dresden Plate Design. I show all 12 of the sections in the photos. There is some slight staining that I tried to show in the photos. The backing is a beautiful green color. I offer parcel select and priority. Quilt Star pattern hand-sewn and hand-quilted pre-1940
THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST! This quilt is entirely handsewn(see stitches in picture) It measures approx. 64" x 75" It has a red border sewn. Two sides are straight and two are pointed visible in picture. It appears there are no tears or stains on the front but a few possible rust stains on the back(see pictures) It has been used for at least 30 years in a guest bedroom. You're looking at 3/4 of an exceptionally graphic quilt top in exciting colors. Most fabrics used are cotton(including a little bit of cotton corduroy) but there is a sprinkling of woolens plaids. Beautiful condition for its age, a few smallest bits of yellowish that would come off with one spray of your spot remover. Made using old sewing machine, just as crisp as the day it was finished! grandmothers flower garden quilt 100+ hand sewn quilt blocks + fabric to finish.
this quilt was started in the 1950's. I believe it is for a double quilt bed or possibly a twin. There are certainly enough blocks and pre-cut hexagons to make a couple of crib quilts. There are about 100 completed blocks 10 of which have been sewn together. There are several that need the white border. There are stacks of precut fabrics all from the same era which can be used to complete the quilt. The original hand made pattern shows a quilt using 143 blocks. This would be 12 blocks wide and 12 full blocks long. Half blocks are needed for the top and bottom and they have not been included in the 143 block count. This miniature coverlet was made from an antique 1800's woven coverlet(the original coverlet had a center seam) There is a vintage red fringe on three sides of the coverlet. The coverlet(which is long enough to do a pillow tuck) measures 11" X 11" and is split at the foot of the bed to accommodate a four poster bed(there is a hook and eye closure for the flaps) The little crochet lace accent pillow is 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" The set is in very good condition.
