Up for auction is a very nice 19th C miniature cast iron iron form trivet recently found at auction in the suburban Philadelphia. PA area. It is found in good used condition, with some minor rust issues, which should clean easily. Please see the photos for details. This is made of metal and does attract a magnet, and measures approximately 5 7/8" x 2 3/8" x 1/2" There is nice scroll work in the center of this piece, I cannot find any makers marks. An Early American Cast Iron Trivet. 19thC. Acquired from the estate of a lifelong Trivet collector; the affixed tag has some original notations. Features a Primitive Grid or Waffle pattern; the extra bar in the lower square allows for the insertion of a stove lifter. There is some minor, age-appropriate oxidation, as shown; it has not been cleaned. No cracks or repairs. Displays exceptionally and guaranteed to please any Trivet collector. Most times it is just the top. There are two things that I will mention about it and you can decide for yourself with the pictures. Towards the bottom below the handle is a small dime sized piece that is chipped off a little. It does not go through and is just on the surface. But is there just the same and needs to be mentioned. The other one is on the handle where the thumb is placed. It is a different color than the rest. I am not sure if this was made like this to give the thumb a not so smooth surface for gripping possibly. It looks to have been made like this from the factory because the color closest to the spout bleeds over onto the lighter colored part. Regardless. Antique Vtg Wood Foot Stool Primitive~KSAC Inlaid in top~ Manhattan Kansas
Folks. I bought this at an estate sale in NE Kansas. I did some research and I believe this sia stool from the KSAC University in Manhattan, Kansas. If you know any different let me know. Top was covered with cloth. I took the cloth off and found this underneath. KSAC is inlaid in top of wood. The"K" is a little raised on one end but the rest is smoothed. It's a really adorable little stool. There are tack nail holes where I removed the cloth and one leg is a little loose but sturdy. There are no cracks. One leg at bottom has a sliver chip off of it but it was stained over originally. Measures 7" tall and 15" long x 8" wide. Not sure of my woods but it is a dark wood. This beautiful dough bowl has been passed down from generation to generation in an East Tennessee family! The gentleman that I am listing this for, is 80 years old, and states that it was passed down to his Mother from her Grandmother, who had received it from her Mother! This bowl was hand-hewn from part of a log, and it is one single piece of wood. This dough bowl is HUGE! It is 25 inches long, and 14 1/2 inches wide. It is 4 inches high from the bottom of the base to the top rim. I am not familiar with the type of wood it is carved from, but for the size of the bowl it is relatively light. RARE Early Primitive Antique Colonial Camphor Chest Voyage Trunk Original Brass
This auction is for a Primitive Camphor Voyage Chest. The chest is made from the aromatic Camphor wood. The chests were used for travel and safe keeping of personal items. The aromatic wood therefore served as a natural pest repellent. I have been unable to determine the precise age of this chest however it is believed to be a very early primitive example from the mid to late 1800's. The craftsmanship is amazing, there is dovetailing at each corner joint and the original brass slats are still fully intact. The lock mechanism is also fully intact but missing the original key. The exterior has seen some age and wear, but the integrity of the box has not been compromised, it is sturdy and will continue to withstand the test of time. The construction technique is very sturdy and basic, but crude. This is uneven and rustic and imperfect but has a lot of charm. and very well made, the bucket and handle are stable but it is not water tight. This is being sold as an antique collectible piece and should not be used. It is made out of wood which has a rich patina, and the slats of the bucket seem to have been sealed with resin or pitch/sap or something similar(to make it water tight? but some ... morehas worn off. There are metal bands around the bucket holding it together, and they are crude and rusty. The handle is metal, and is connected with interesting hand made brackets. The"nails" also seem to be crude and handmade. The bucket is 13.5 inches high with handle up 20.5 inches and has a diameter of 12" inside. And 13" outside. Antique Old Hand Carved Wooden Americana Folk Art Primitive Cane Walking Stick A nice old antique hand carved Folk Art cane. It is in original paint and has a good deal of hand carved designs. The top is an unfinished shaft(see photos) There is alligatoring of the paint and varnish from age and some paint loss towards the bottom of the cane. In total it measures about 3 feet 1 inch long. I really like how if one looks at the bowl from the side, you can see how it rises and falls, an attractive undulation. There are no cracks or repairs to this bowl, just good old fashioned wear, darkening in the right areas, and a rich even warm patina.
