Up for auction is an original old Tarahumara Indian doll hand carved out of wood. Acquired in Arizona. It is the last of the three I have. The other two sold and in my opinion. I saved the best for last. It's the larger of the three and just beautifully carved. The figure appears to date around the early 1900's(that's my guess) And measures approximately 10.25" x 4.25" It can stand alone if you put something underneath the footing. Primitive Antique Folk Art Whirligig Man Sawing Wood Great Working Collectible
Large Primitive Antique Working Whirligig From a Vermont estate. This is a great working wood and metal Whirligig. There is a rotating fan on the front which turns in the wind. The turning of the pinwheel makes the man go up and down to saw a little log. The log has been sawed about half way through. There is a arrow feather on the back which turns the whirligig toward the wind. The arrow feather is made of metal, I think tin, the man is made of wood and metal, and the front pinwheel is made of wood blades. The stand in the picture is not included. The piece works well. It could probably use some oiling to keep it moving. There is wear to the painted surfaces as you would expect with the age. It has a great folk art primitive appeal. Item Photos, Item Photos, DETAILS ANTIQUE Wooden Primitive Ramp Walker FOLK ART Black Americana Doll Toy Stepin Tom circa. 1920's Listed here is a vintage ramp walker wooden Toy that I believe to be from the circa. 1920's This is an incredible piece of black Americana history. The entire thing is made of wood. Except the metal rod that hings the legs to the body. This item is a testament to the concepts of its folk art era- it's made simply and it's made solid. However, the way the face and clothing is painted on is expressive and detailed- more so than others I have seen in this vein. Altogether there are five parts made of wood; top half, each leg and each foot. The back is marked"Stepin Tom" and says it was made in Sturgis, Michigan by Studvy. On one side the face has some marks that look inconsistent with the ... morepaint. It kind of looks like maybe it got a little smudged when it was painted. There's a hole on the back of the doll that seems like it had a screw in it. The legs and feet also have some black and red lines on them. The left shoulder has a tiny spot of wear. Overall it's a quite good condition for its age. Please see the photos for condition and ask any questions before bidding. Condition is solid, sturdy and built with lighter weight wood. Fresh out of a local estate sale is this absolutely wonderful"ESTATE FIND" Irish Dough Bowls are very RARE and hardly ever found on the open market. Look closely at the pictures this one is as"RIGHT" as they come and in absolutely awesome condition. The bowl itself is 14 1/2" across and 22 1/2" when you include the handles. It is 2 1/2" deep. Every inch of this piece shows the careful attention to detail when it was first made. Imagine the stories this piece could tell if it could talk. Wonderful untouched patina and all the great marks.
