Description This woven textile is 18" in length and the width is 10.5" We bought it in Peru in the 1970's and it's been in storage for ... morethe last 25 years since we closed our import store. It is mounted on cardboard but will need to be remounted since I have to bend the flexible cardboard to fit into a large priority mail box. It has holes. Tears, thinning areas, soiled and frayed areas, etc. but would be considered to be in fair condition for a textile that is probably around 900 years old. Please see closeup photos. The price on the back of this piece from 25 years ago is $125. Shipping will cost $10 via priority USPS mail with Delivery Confirmation to US addresses only and will be shipped within 1 business day after cleared funds are received. If more than one item is purchased on the same day they will be shipped together and extra shipping is $1 per item. We accept Paypal only. Please pay within 3 days of purchase. Thank you for looking!

Pastle Native American Artifact Midwest Origin Pre Colombian Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Click to Enlarge Description: Up for Sale! Pestle Native American Artifact of Midwest Origin 3.5 inches by 2.60 inches by 1.5 inches at the narrow end A pestle used in conjunction with a mortar as an important part of the Native American tool assemblage. Mortar and pestles were used to reduce grains such as corn or wheat into meal and flour. Meat. Fruit, nuts and berries were also reduced and then utilized in food processing. I would compare the ancient mortar and pestle to our modern day food processor. The difference would be the form of energy used which is electric versus old fashion elbow grease. New LOW Price - Unique, Wearable Pre-Columbian Beaded Necklace
This piece was found tucked away in my Grandmother's possessions and I have decided not to keep it as I have too many collections and cannot begin collecting yet another category. It is a very interesting necklace which I remember seeing a few times when my Grandmother wore it with a big. Chunky sweater. She explained that it was an artifact from pre-Columbian times which was obtained during her travels. I must disclose first that it has been restrung on monofilament wire(a clear plastic thread, sometimes used as fishing line) which makes it very stable and wearable. The necklace consists of both natural stones and man-made beads. I believe the beads are composed of terracotta of some kind. The man-made beads are done mostly in a reddish-brown color and two in a jade green color. There are two of the reddish-brown which are tubular and ... more101 small disc-shaped. The other two tubular beads are jade green in color. The pendant is natural stone. It is round in shape and has a hole in the center and the color is a taupe with some reddish-brown. Each side of the pendant is of a different color and the hole in the center resembles the holes in the other pieces of natural stone. The measurement of this bead is about 1 3/4 inches in diameter and 2/8 inches thick. Please see the photographs as they are an important part of the description. The majority of the other natural stones are nugget shaped with some which are flatter and they vary in color from white to beige to taupe and green. There are 38 stones not including the larger round pendant. The piece is about 24 1/2 inches in length and hangs to about 12 1/4 inches when worn. All of the beads are strung symetrically which makes this a very wearable and attractive as well as collectable item. The stones and beads are all very smooth to the touch and holding it in one's hands is a pleasent tactile experience. It is in wonderful condition with no damage or repairs other than wear consumate with age. If you should have any questions. Please e-mail me and I will get

Ancient Pre Columbian Proto Classic Nayarit Seated Shaman Figure - 100 BC
An ancient pre-Columbian Nayarit terracotta figure of a seated shaman. Dating to the Proto-Classic period, 100 BC– 250 AD. The male figure is shown seated. Coloured with a deep ochre pigment and wearing only a belt, painted necklace and elaborate headdress. Supported on legs contorted into a seemingly impossible position, the broad, square torso imbues this individual with a domineering physical presence. The small hands are gripped tightly into fists, as if the figure were flexing his muscles whilst shouting. The head is marked by discordant almond eyes, a prominent nose, deep, round mouth and small lips. The ears and nose are pierced with multiple rings. The staring eyes and open mouth of this figure are disturbing yet gripping; appealing in the strangest of ways. He appears in a trance-like state, speaking to a very ancient place inside ... moreour psyche. Nayarit figures form part of the mysterious shaft tomb culture of ancient western Mexico. Little is known about ancient Nayarit life beyond these enigmatic figures and the other artefacts they produced. The discordant facial expressions of figures such as this have in some quarters been advanced as evidence of shamanism. Haunting and intense. Their true identity remains lost in the distant, unknown past. Height: 13 inches. Condition: Very good. Some minor restoration, including to nose piercing. Beautiful pigment preservation, overall good for an ancient figure of this size. Provenance: From the collection of Mr S. Seeger. Mr Seeger was a well-known art collector with a keen eye and ample financial means. This piece was exhibited. Along with other examples of his Pre-Columbian art, at Princeton University in 1961. The following quote is from the exhibition catalogue, scans of which can be provided to the new owner upon request: Especially choice. Also, in the collection is a remarkable group of Pre Columbian sculptures purchased by Mr Seeger from the distinguished collection of the late Keith Warner. Kelleher et al. The S.J. Seeger collection, Princeton, 1961

Kit Kapp Collection Kuna Mola With Pre Columbian Cocle Figures -- TV Station
Mola With TV Station/Cocle Imagery collected by Kit Kapp. The Cocle culture existed in Panama from about 150 BC to 800 AD. And produced pottery with very interesting imagery- including the winged fellow you see on this mola. But the Kunas did not copy this imagery from the ancient culture, but from a Panamanian TV station that used this guy as their logo. What you're looking at here is four TV screens with a test pattern on them. Really a fun mola with great color pallet and spacey imagery, with intriguingly erratic embroidery. This mola has been in my personal collection for some time.and originally from one of the great early collections of molas. 18" x 14.5" A comment on pricing: I believe some of the pieces I will be listing in the next couple of weeks are far more valuable than the opening bid price- because of design. ... moreExecution, rareness and provenance. But I want to start at a low price and let the market decide how much they're worth. Good luck! The Kit Kapp Collection. Like many of the molas I sell. This on is from the collection of Kit Kapp, who mapped the San Blas Islands from 1960 to 1970, and wrote one of the first English-language books on molas. Mola Art from the San Blas Islands. Please note that by bidding on this mola. You grant me the right to use its image in the production of a book and web site on mola art. Thanks for reading.

Pre Columbian ~ Inca Pottery Lambayeque Period 1000 AD ~ Large 7 1/2" X 6 1/2"
Available for your consideration is a collection of high end and rare Authentic Pre Columbian Art. This is a 6 1/2" wide X 7 1/2" high Lambayeque period piece with a lot of detail. This piece was professionally restored by a curator in the 1960's. The repairs and missing pieces only add to the beauty and shows its authenticity. It is missing the lower half of the right arm and has a small chip on the nose. The right ear was repaired. But barely noticeable. Two of my pieces from the Lambayeque period came from a 45 year private collection from New York. Which I acquired from an auction. I love these pieces, so I know they will add to any buyer's collection! ~ THIS IS AN AUTHENTIC PRE COLUMBIAN PIECE ~(This is NOT a Reproduction) The Lambayeque period dates to approximately 1000 AD. Extending to the rise of the Chimú ... moreEmpire in 1350 AD. The Chimú were the residents of Chimor, with its capital at the city of Chan Chan, a large adobe city in the Moche Valley of present-day Trujillo city. The culture arose about 900 AD. The Inca ruler Tupac Inca Yupanqui led a campaign which conquered the Chimú around 1470 AD, This was just fifty years before the arrival of the Spanish in the region. Consequently, Spanish chroniclers were able to record accounts of Chimú culture from individuals who had lived before the Inca conquest. Similarly, Archaeological evidence suggest Chimor grew out of the remnants of Moche culture; early Chimú pottery had some resemblance to that of the Moche. Their ceramics are all black, and their work in precious metals is very detailed and intricate. Chimú ceramics were crafted for two functions: containers for daily domestic use and those made for ceremonial use for offerings at burials. Domestic pottery was developed without higher finishing. While funeral ceramics show more aesthetic refinement. The main features of Chimú ceramics were small sculptures, and manufacturing molded and shaped pottery for ceremonial or daily use. Ceramics were usually st

Inca Treasures Pre Columbian Jalisco pottery figure, artifact, art, COA
This is just a great little guy. A Jalisco Pre Columbian thinker a Pensador pottery piece. Amazing expression and cute due to his being so ugly in his own way. He has good manganese deposits and still remnants of color from the original glaze after 2000 years. He is part of the West Mexico culture of the Jalisco culture whom often had very unusual figural depictions and body distortions. I purchased it from Arte Xibalba Gallery. Experts in Pre Columbian artifacts and a COA comes with it. He is a little guy about 4 inches tall. But so much character. A fun piece for any collector. Hard not to be fascinated by him. Native American Stone Arrow Straightener Pre-Columbian
This palm-sized piece of dense black stone was fashioned by an unknown ancient hand to serve as an arrow straightener. It was collected along the Appalachian Trail between 1920 and 1950 by my great uncle. He and I both believe it to be Pre-Columbian. Though it is impossible to definitively state its age without expensive carbon dating and not even then for certain. I have many arrowheads and spear heads, but this is the only item of its type I have encountered in 50 years of prospecting. It would make a great display and measures 2.75" x 1.25" I will pack it carefully for shipping, although the dense brown rock it's made from is extremely tough.
Chiriquí Greyware Trippod "Fish Pot" ~ Pre-Columbian Panama ~ c.1200 AD - Nice!
Chiriquí Grey"Fish Pot" Panama, c.1200 AD These tripod pots are typical of Chiriquí pottery. Found in what is today Panama. Tis style of pottery has been referred to as"fish pots" because the of the shape of the legs, which are stylized to look like fish with fins out from their sides. Where the heads of the fish might be, this pot has three bulbous shaped areas, and it has triangular shaped holes in the chambers of the legs where beads should be to make the legs rattle- but which are missing or lost to antiquity. This pot has a flared lip that has a flat top above where lip angles into the bowl. On the outside of the bowl there are two handles made of entwined cords of clay and below the outside lip there is a flat space where this pot might have had a cord of some sort going round it and through the handles. ... moreThis pot stands fine and yet at very slight angle to one side. This is a fie pot for display and for study and would make a good addition to any collection of fine antiquities. This pot measures 6" high X 6" maximum diameter. International buyers pay full cost of shipping. Please see our other auctions- we can combine shipping. Thanks for looking!
