Pre-Columbian Teotihuacan "Portrait Head", fire hardened clay--ceramic
I am revising this listing and others after an email from an interested member. I had previously thought this was a Mayan stone head. It is not. It is a fire hardened clay- ceramic)and came from Teotihuacan which was the largest metropolis to ever exist in pre-columbian mesoamerica. This head and others I have listed are known as the Teotihuacan"Portrait Head" type. Teotihuacan flourished during the early to middle classic period, circa 200-750 CE. I have posted the email that provided me this additional and corrective information. This head is 1 3/8 inches(3.33 cm) tall, 1 3/4 inches(2.25 cm) wide, 3/4 of an inch(2.75 cm) deep. It is the smallest head I am selling but the most delicately carved. She( has high cheek bones and artistically fashioned eyes. The coloring of the head is best represented in the first picture. The second ... morepicture is the back of the head, which is a bit lighter than the front but is not white as it appears in the picture. This stone and others i am listing were part of my father’s collection. I am not an expert so please ask questions or share information with me if you wish. I will accept returns on the heads within two weeks of delivery. Purchaser pays return postage.
Pre Columbian style brass, artifact necklace, brooch flute player, Mayan, incan
A cute piece for the easier budget to get items of Pre Columbian style imagery. This is nay be up to 50-60 years old tops and has a man playing flute motif. The Latin and pre Columbians loved music and rhythms for ceremony and fun. It's hard to go to a South American City and not seeing men playing a variety of flutes. Many flutes were made in pottery and played quite well despite taking the forms of many animals. It is amazing how these artisans could make such non standardized pieces that carried notes. This piece about 2 inches long. Intact clasp and could even be made a pendant. A nice item for a change of pace. On the under surface is printed the phrase"art museum relic" which is likely where this came from. I don't know what culture this represents but I think I have seen it in Inca. Mayan, and Mexican cultures. Please ... moresee pics and feel free to ask questions. See my other Pre Columbian items Inca Treasures LTD

PRE COLUMBIAN - MOCHE culture *RARE* FEMALE FIGURE WHISTLE, ca. 100 to 800 AD
A very uncommon and neat looking pre-Spanish contact(pre-Columbian) Moche culture ceramic stylized Female-shaped whistle wearing a bold head dress or hat. From coastal Peru, dating from about 100 to 800 AD, more or less. T he condition is mostly good. Showing great age and wear overall, about 55 mm(over 2 inches) in length, about 13 mm tall when viewed from the side and 26 mm(about one inch) at the widest part. The left part of the hat has a fracture that appears to have been repaired The Moche culture was very creative in various art forms, especial figural and sculpture works. Symbolism was a very important part of their culture. this is a very unusual whistle and still very collectible despite the repair. Note: I tested whistle with canned air and a loud sound came through. So it still works quite well. Please check the dimensions. Antique Pre Columbian colonial pottery artifact relic native made smoked pipe
This interesting piece is a carved black ware pottery pipe that has been smoked. This does not mean broken in for your use. It has a cute turtle sitting over the bowl. An interesting motif since one of many myths the inca's had was that the world rests on the back of a turtle. It has carved geometric designs in stem. At first I thought it was a real Pre Columbian relic. I had it assessed by a major Gallery. Artemis a Gallery and it is actually an old colonial piece from the 1709s or 1800s. Still handmade by indigenous natives with markings and designs used for centuries. It's a fun piece for a collector. Not a ceremonial vessel but an artifact likely smoked every day. 8 inches long Please view pictures before bidding and contact me with questions. I bought it on line which is why I had it assessed. I have other Pre Columbian items ... moreon eBay. Check them out. All good pieces. Inca Treasures LTD

About Jalisco Figures: Jalisco has produced the most realistic looking sculptures other than the Mayan and Mochica. Some of the larger sculptures have truly human looking features. Unlike Colima's ... morespouted pieces. Jalisco generally has only a vent hole, often in the ear or mouth. Because of the distinct differentiations, it is accepted that Jalisco varieties represent actual populations. The San Sebastian red figures are especially thin- walled and heavily adorned. While the El Arenal brown are heavier and more human in appearance. The Ameca are predominently gray with a few gold large figures that approach realistic portraiture, both in appearance and posture. This very interesting whorl has a decorative pattern of scrolled waves. It has several chips as you can see in the photos. But has aged beautifully. Very likely a ceremonial object rather than for every day use in fabric making. The condition is mostly good. Showing great age and wear overall. Pre-Columbian - Chupícuaro ceremonial offering bowl
This terracotta Chupícuaro ceremonial offering bowl has an interesting abstract design arranged in a spiral on the sloping interior surface. This design has been executed in a type of negative painting technique where the buff substrate is an integral and intricate part of the pattern. Inside and out the rim is wrapped in a 1/2” band of red slip with a fire clouded underside accented by an undulating line. The ceramic style is named after the village of Chupícuaro in the western Mexican state of Guanajuato. Located in the Guanajuato valley surrounded by the Sierra de Guanajuato and situated on the Lerma River the culture was active from about 500 BCE to 250 CE. Luckily excavations of the site were conducted in 1946-7 revealing much of what we know today. In 1949 the Solís Dam was constructed. This led to the flooding of the ... morearea which today remains under a lake formed by this act. Chupícuaro ceramics were formed without the use of a potting wheel making the quality of their craftsmanship all the more remarkable. As observed by Richard E. W. Adams in his book Prehistoric Mesoamerica. There is no doubt that Chupícuaro represents an exuberant ceramic tradition in full flower. Dimensions: 4 ¾” diameter. 2” high. Condition: There is a compression fracture running across approx. 1/3 of the bowl culminating in some lost ceramic at one end point. There is also some red slip loss. Provenance- This item was recently obtained from the estate of the late Willis Pratt. A career academic at the University of Texas in Austin. Dr. Pratt owned a residence in Guanajuato and frequently visited Western and Central Mexico between the mid 1930’s and mid 1960’s. During that time he amassed a fine collection of many pre-Columbian artifacts which he kept and displayed in his home in Austin. Guaranteed authentic.

Despite all it remains a dramatic mask with emotion and a wonderful collector piece especially for the unusual item not often seen. Don't wear this on Halloween or at a teen horror movie. A wonderful art piece. It continues to amaze and catch my eye. Ca 500BC-500 AD Provenance Renman Gallery Approx. 7 inches wide and tall and 1/2 inch wide. Pre Columbian animal clay figures - Mexico
Pre Columbian Clay figures. During the 1960's while living in Mexico I found these arrowheads. The location was at the base of a small extinct volcano close to. Cuatla. Morelos, Mexico. It is my understanding that the area was populated in Pre Aztec times by the Xochimilco tribe. The figures appear to be of a dog. A bird and a turtle? They are about 2" 5 cm) long on average. They were parts of a larger clay item which. I believe was a bowl with the figures being the handles.

* Pre-Columbian Terracotta/Pottery Clay Funerary Figure Relic *
I bought this pottery figure from an estate auctions where there were several other pieces- some of which I will be also listing and some I am keeping for my own collection. I was told it was Pre-Columbian pottery and from my research here on Ebay it appears to be made of terracotta. Also from my research on Ebay and other sites. And judging from the other pieces that came from the same collection, it does appear to be authentic. However, I am not an expert in this area so PLEASE use your own judgment and bid accordingly. This piece measures about 8 1/2" tall. The piece appears to be solid judging from the bottom, which is solid, not hollow. There is a hollowed-out area in the bottom front of the figure that I was told was there to hold something relating to the burial, but I can't remember what. If anyone knows and cares to share ... morethe information, I will be glad to add it here. Please look at the photos carefully. This is not in perfect condition but seems appropriate for the age- exact age to be determined by you. Please E-mail me with questions or additional photos of specific areas of the figure. Thanks.

Pre-Columbian clay pottery Inca, Mayan $325
A small piece of pottery I bought from a friend when we were both about 7 years old. In the early 1960s. It's never been appraised, but has been looked at by a researcher who specializes in Mayan history and culture who believes that it is a Mayan object. It stands about 4 inches tall and almost as wide, about 2.75 inches deep(front to back) Condition is as seen in photos; chipped/missing pieces from top and at tip of left hand/fingers. There's a large long crack in back from falling off shelf during a California earthquake(1990) No restoration work has ever been done. It still sits and displays nicely on a shelf. Not much more to say about it, but email or post questions and I'll do my best to answer. RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fvo%7B%3Dd70f%2Bf52%3E-1440e8de1f1-0xdf-

WHAT OTHER FITTING WAY TO RECORD WHAT THEY SAW BUT TO MAKE THE OBJECT OUT OF CLAY. I SAY THIS SHIP CAN BE A PENDANT BY PASSING THE TWO ENDS OF A STRING THRU THE HOLE AND TYING A KNOT UNDER THE FLAT BOTTOM SO IT SITS UPRIGHT. THIS OBJECT MEASURES APPX. 1 3/4" DIAMETER ... moreX 3/4" TALL.
Pre Columbian San Blas Kuna Indian Panama vintage mola San Blas Indian folk art
Beatuiful example of a vintage folk art specific to the Kuna Natives of the San Blas Islands off the Atlantic roast of Central Panama. This Mola. Is an example of the creative back stitching decoration of cloth pieces specific to these Natives for many years. The Kunas live on a collection of over 350 small Islands a boat ride off the Atlantic coast of Panama. This has now become a world wide collectible art work that has gone on unchanged. All types of items, cloth, clothing etc. are created. Often they are framed in a double frame with a cloth or beige gunny sack like fabric as a matting between the outer frame and inner frame. This piece was made around 1960 and I bought a number of others when I lived in Panama. The colors have remained brilliant. Some collectors like older ones or molars that have faded some to give the feeling of a ... morepiece of history where each mola is a distinct pattern. They can be animals. Geometric patterns, or other forms. No rules. A great wall piece that will always draw attention and comments.
