Today I present to you this highly collectible and unique Pre-Columbian Chimu Peruvian Blackware Ceremonial Figural Puffer Fish Vessel ca. 850-1470 AD. This Chimu blackware ceremonial figural vessel came out of an old historic estate in San Antonio. Texas. A recent valuation was done on the Chimu ceremonial vessel by an expert valuer of ancient Peruvian artifacts. Please see his summary valuation below: Description Attributed to the mature Chimu civilization before the metallurgy period. The vessel is indeed that of a puffer fish ceremonial vessel and the condition does show extensive ... moreloss of the blackware effect. Showing the red clay body. Chimu pottery reflects the symbolic and iconographic representations involving the people's relationship with the sea, such as fish, clam shells, waves and sea birds. The majority of Peruvian pottery is black, characterized by a distinctive metallic black-grey look. It is estimated that 95% of such pottery was produced within the Chimu culture during its dominance along the north coast of Peru(circa 850- 1470 A.D. Also there was less mass production in the Peruvian highlands. The fish vessel was made for an offering at burials. Chimu ceremonial blackware vessels do come up at auction and retail frequently. And also in many art galleries across the country. PRE COLUBIAN ECUADOR NECKLACE SPINDLE WHORLS AUTHENTIC Eight very detailed small spindle whorls approximately the size of a nickle coin fashioned into a 20" long necklace. Purchased from a private U.S. collection and in with La Tolita and Jamacoaque fragments. these spindle whorls are authentic Pre Columbian. The white round beads and green small beads are fashioned out of some white chalky substance with a slick shiney coating. At first the green beads resembled stone but one is chipped and the green coating is off and the same white chalk like substance is underneath. See the photogrtaph. The green beads show lots of debris as do the spndle whorls but I cannot say what or how old they are as this has been restrung with contemporary white string and a silver metal hook. The round crystal beads are definitely contemporary in my opinion ... morebut added to make a wearable necklace. The small greenish stone figure at the bottom resembles some kind of animal either real or mythical with what appears to be large ears and three fingered hands and toes It is 1 1/4 inches high and looks authentic and has tiny crystaline inclusions that reflect the light. Much of the ancient pottery I have has these inclusions also but old stone is old stone. I am not an expert and will guarantee only that the spindle whorls are authentic and if the rest is so much the better. Exellent condition with only some of the round chalk like and green beads having chips. The spindle whorls are not damaged and have lots of debris in the lines which has been retained.

A buff colored two handled bowl from the Chancay culture of pre-Columbian Peru. Ca. 1000- 1500 AD. It was bought at the Skinner's Ethnographic Auction on 1/24/09. The vessel has a flattened ovoid shape, brown painted decoration around the upper body. It is possible that this line is decoration. However it is also possible that the significance of this line is that the bead was planned as"herencia" There was, and still is, a Mayan practice of cutting very fine pieces of jadeite to give as inheritance. It is possible that there was a plan to cut this bead and that it never happened. This bead is a true BLUE/GREEN JADEITE, similar to the color of jadeite preferred by the Olmecs. A choice Pre Columbian Seated Lord/Shaman pottery figure and whistle from Artemis Gallery. This piece is in fabulous condition and very rare coming from the Bahia culture in the Ecuador region. It has a hat with two horns of the Shaman and between is a hole that makes a delightful whistle. Pristine trichrome colors and very little destruction of glaze or paint. It appears to have some mineral deposits on feet and a few places. No cracks or chipping that I see. It has earrings. A nose ring, likely in person it was Gold, and a breast plate. It is a Seated Lord figure. Very difficult to find from Ecuador cultures. This is a very unique piece and could easily be seen in a museum collection. I great piece for the serious or beginning collector. Guaranteed authentic with a COA that comes with it. I love this little guy and he is almost as good ... moreas new. Rare Pre Columbian Pottery Peru with Mayan Influences! A rare Tripod- 3 vessel pottery artifact! This is a piece from my grandfather's collection. He was in the Navy in the early 1950's and traveled the world. He was a very interesting man. I have pictures of him in Paris to the Amazon! This is not my area of expertise and I can only pass along what I have been told by family members. Please look at all the pictures carefully before bidding as there is some age related damage. Vintage pre Columbian well done reproduction of an Ecuador vessel with hands holding the head of deity. Warrior or other figure. Typing Made in Ecuador from a very old typewriter. Made in Ecuador. Found in estate sale collection. This is a folk indigenous Ecuador reproduction but the shop I found it in knew little of its origin and only that it came with an estate collection. But it appears to have root markings and black clouds. A good piece for the Pre Columbian buff to get a paper weight or pencil jar with unusual décor. Heavier item so mailing is higher. Culture: Ecuador. Possibly Bahia origin Ca: unknown but likely pre 1955 from typing. Size: 61/2 in. Tall. 4 inches at rim, and 51/2 inches at widest width of figure. Purchased from Estate sale. Pre Columbian / Anazazi Pottery Ceramic Jar
I am not an expert. But I believe this to be pre-Columbian or Anazazi in origin. I purchased it today from an estate sale in Colorado. It is quite large- 44" in circumference, 13" high with a 9" mouth and approx 15" diameter. It is plain without ornamentation, with brown and blackened patina and lighter on the rounded bottom. THIS IS AN AMAZING BIT OF HISTORY. AND A TRUE MUSEUM PIECE. IT IS A PRE COLUMBIAN STONE JAGUAR PAW. THEY WERE USED BY AZTEC PREISTS DURING SACRIFICIAL CEREMONIES TO SMASH THE SKULL OF THE VICTIM. THIS PIECE WAS EXCAVATED AT A DIG IN SOUTHERN MEXICO IN 1920 BY MY GRANDFATHER. IT IS CARVED TO FIT PERFECTLY IN THE HAND, AND MEASURES 4.25 LENGTH AND WIDTH BY 2.25 DEEP.
