A Pre-Columbian Colima Mask. Comala Type, Protoclassic ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250. This sculpture of a Colima mask of convex form. With typical shamanistic head cap in relief, dating to the Protoclassic Period of the West Mexican sculptural tradition, ca. 100 B.C. to A.D. 250, displays an open mouth, a hooked nose, a raised, but rounded point on each cheek, and round, pierced-through eyes. There is a drill hole on each side of the mask at near eye level. The reverse side is concave. The size is smaller than most Colima masks, so may have been created for a child or small dwarf. It measures about 11" X 11 1/2" X 7 1/4" 28.1 cm X 29.3 cm X 18.5 cm) It weighs approximately 11 Lbs( 5 Kgs) The Mayans were a Mesoamerican Civilization that developed a complete written language system in the Pre-Columbian era. Their art, architecture, mathematical and astrological systems influenced their surroundings, covering an area of about 620 miles, including the modern-day countries of Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Northern El Salvador, and Central Mexico. The Early Preclassic Mayan Period introduced pottery and fired clay figurines. The Mayans traded cacao, salt, seashells, ... morejade, and obsidian. The Mayan Stepped Pyramids were built in their religious centers and they accompanied the palaces of their rulers. Mayan art reflects high level of aesthetics and artisanal sophistication. Their carvings and reliefs show their observation of the human form and daily events. Advanced painting on their ceramics show their technique and knowledge for mixing colors. AUTHENTIC Lot PRE COLUMBIAN JALISCO Pottery Vase Bowl Platter Mexico NO RESERVE
I purchased a large lot of pottery in a high-end auction. And these three pieces of Pre-Columbian pottery were included in it. A very old auction label on the bottom of one of the pieces identifies these as Jalisco. The vase in this lot has red painted details and is 4.5 inches tall. With an opening at the top of 3.5 inches in diameter. It is a beautiful piece but does have a chip on the top rim, which is shown in photos. There are also two very old labels on the bottom, which can be removed by the buyer if desired. The small bowl here is 4.25 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. It has beautiful firing marks. Although it too has chips, shown in photos. The large platter/bowl is 9.5 inches in diameter and 2 inches tall. Again. Nice firing marks and overall a great looking piece. I am not a collector of this specific type of pottery. So please ... moreemail me if you have any questions I have not answered here. I am happy to reply. Happy bidding!

LOT 3 CLAY FIGURES PRE COLUMBIAN PERUVIAN POTTERY ARTIFACTS 3 STATUES
Sometimes I see very rare and special antiquities collected by old Charleston families going through our local high end estate sales and such is the case with these three marvelous ancient pre Columbian Peruvian pottery figures. These terrific antique clay figures measure 4.75 inches tall by 4.5 inches long; 4.5 inches tall by 4 inches long; and 3 inches tall by inches long. Respectively. I've included numerous pictures in an attempt to accurately represent their design, quality, condition and overall beauty. Though I am not an expert in pre Columbian artifacts. It's very clear this wonderful group of ancient pottery figures are quite special and not something easy to come by. When they came to the auction where they sold, all that was known is that they had been in the grandfather's collections going back to the early 1900's ... morebut no other specific information as to whom or how they were originally obtained was provided, though it was clearly long ago and many years prior to any regulations limiting export so such historically relevant pieces by collectors and tourists. The only information with the figures was a hand written note stating they were of the pre Columbian Chimu culture, Peru 900-1470. To ship these incredible ancient collectibles. I would require they shipped via signature service UPS or USPS, fully insured for selling price. I am willing to sell and ship these artifacts internationally however I would require they be shipped via Priority Express International(USPS)with signature service at delivery and as well as buyer assuming all in country taxes and fees upon arrival. Certainly museum quality. This group of three Peruvian pre Columbian figures is certainly a rare and special find and I hope they find a very special home, whether museum or personal collection, where they will be loved and appreciated for their beauty and historical value. Please do visit my ebay store to see the wide variety of other fine antique and vintage collectibles I have available through separate auctions i

CEREMONIAL CELT, PRE COLUMBIAN, EXTREMELY RARE, HUMAN SACRIFICE
Provenance: This beautiful deep blue celt. Was found by my 14 year old son about 1:00 pm on 6/14/13. I believe it to be a Caddoan Indian artifact, since we live in the Saline river valley, the middle fork, near Jessieville, Arkansas. This implement, is one of the finest examples of a Ceremonial Celt, that I have ever seen, anywhere. It is also one of the sharpest, I have ever touched. The celt is eight& 7/8's inches long and weighs 13.5 ounces. A sharp and hefty tool for sacrificing, decapitations, dismemberment. We have found many artifacts here, because the Saline river runs through our farm. This hardstone celt, fits perfectly in your left hand, due to the offset twist you see in the main photo. The only flaw, is a one thumbnail sized chip, out of the right side, on the wide end. This is an extremely RARE, museum quality piece, ... morefor cutting flesh& bone. Other features include: otherwise flat profile; small breasts; pouty. Open lips; stylized. Minimalist face; ear rings; hair in 2 buns on top of head; thick neck; broad shoulders; truncated hands and feet; and orange clay color slightly mottled from uneven heat in firing and/or age(particularly visible on the back) 2) Dimensions. 6 inches high(about 16 centimeters) 3) Condition. Mint. Pristine, museum quality. 4) Provenance. I bought this sculpture in 1967 ... morefrom a source I trusted who I met in the home of my friend Kurt Stavenhagen in Mexico City when I was an anthropology student at the Universidad de las Americas. Kurt Stavenhagen was a Wikipedia-worthy collector of Precolumbian sculpture to whom I was introduced by Ferdinand Anton- a German anthropologist and photographer who filmed my family exploring the Maya ruins of Chichen Itza in 1964 for a movie he made for Time/ Life Magazines and German television which compared modern art. Such as Picasso and Henry Moore, with ancient art like the Maya. I also studied how to distinguish an authentic precolumbian sculpture from a fake: 1) provenance; know the source; 2) study precolumbian anthropology; see what's in the museums and the books; 3) lick. Or otherwise wet, the object and see how long it takes to dry; ancient ceramics take a long time to dry because they are more porous than new ceramics. 5) Shipping. No charge for a U.S. address.

PRECOLUMBIAN PRE-COLUMBIAN INCA MOCHE CHIMU AZTEC MAYAN ANCIENT PERUVIAN #3
Beyond stating that it is Mayan and genuine. I am not sure what function this apparently complete feline head would have served(if any- possibly just a votive talisman- Note the Fangs! It is complete and intact and measures just over 3" in length. Traces of white pigment remain. As noted, it is complete in itself. Shipping and handling in the US is $15; overseas will vary. As with every item I sell, authenticity is absolutely guaranteed. PLEASE NOTE: I SELL AND SHIP WORLDWIDE
PRECOLUMBIAN PRE-COLUMBIAN INCA MOCHE CHIMU AZTEC MAYAN ANCIENT PERUVIAN #2
This marvelous head was most probably placed over a second figure and worn as a"helmet" or a mask. This approach occurs on many Vera Cruz and Mayan pieces. Often associated with warriors or ball game figures. My guess is that this piece is most likely Vera Cruz. As noted, it is complete in itself and retains traces of both white and red pigment. One small apparent loss to the headband/headdress. The piece measures just over 2-1/2" in height. Shipping and handling in the US is $15; overseas will vary. As with every item I sell, authenticity is absolutely guaranteed. PLEASE NOTE: I SELL AND SHIP WORLDWIDE
