Description This woven textile is 18" in length and the width is 10.5" We bought it in Peru in the 1970's and it's been in storage for ... morethe last 25 years since we closed our import store. It is mounted on cardboard but will need to be remounted since I have to bend the flexible cardboard to fit into a large priority mail box. It has holes. Tears, thinning areas, soiled and frayed areas, etc. but would be considered to be in fair condition for a textile that is probably around 900 years old. Please see closeup photos. The price on the back of this piece from 25 years ago is $125. Shipping will cost $10 via priority USPS mail with Delivery Confirmation to US addresses only and will be shipped within 1 business day after cleared funds are received. If more than one item is purchased on the same day they will be shipped together and extra shipping is $1 per item. We accept Paypal only. Please pay within 3 days of purchase. Thank you for looking!

Colima Dog This is a wonderful Colima figural dog vessel. As found in a local estate and believed to be an ancient piece from Western Mexico, approximately ... moretwo thousand years old. The dog is fat- or pregnant- with a hollow body in aggressive stance with tail that forms a spout. The dog's eyes and mouth are incised into the clay. Dog effigies such as this were buried in tombs in the belief that dogs were an important guide into the afterlife of the deceased. Both of the dog's ears are chipped; one with minor loss. The other more significantly. Two legs have been re-glued; the repairs are rough and amateur, and the break lines appear to have had some loss and are not well-aligned. The burnished reddish brown exterior is mottled and veined. And the interior is encrusted with mineral sediment. The dog came to me without information on its history or provenance. But shows many indications of its age. It's a fascinating piece that is sure to complement any collection. Two legs repaired somewhat roughly. One ear is broken. The other is chipped. Other expected wear. Burnished exterior, rough interior with sediment deposits. 9 3/8" long. 6" high, 5" across[ p e n c i l p o i n t e r Shipping? FREE via USPS Priority International Shipping? Pre Columbian ( before 1492 ) native made CLAY drinking glass Peruvian
Pre Columbian( before 1492) native made CLAY drinking glass Peruvian A Pre Columbian( before 1492) native made CLAY drinking glass. Likely from what is now Peru. The art work likely depicts eating of friut. This piece was part of a collection that was brought back from South America by a wealthy American collector and adventurer, approximately 1912. Condition is excellent, especially for a piece this old. No cracks, no wear, no discoloration. This museum piece was analyzed by an expert in ancient artifacts and verified it's authenticity. The art work is typical of the Peruvian style. The clay used in the manufacture was alluvial clay, most likely from the bottom of a river bed or stream. Allowed to dry, it was hand formed and sun baked. The river beds often had traces of gold that had been washed down from the mountains and this gold ... morewas in the alluvial clay. The indigenous people from the area did not know that gold was valuable, until after Columbus and the Spaniards arrived on the scene. You can easily see the specks of gold on all of the edges of this piece. It is real gold, not the sparkles you can buy in stores. You need a loop or magnifying glass to see it, but it's on all the surfaces, including internally. Lots of the clay products made today are sprayed with sparkles to look antique, but this is just a ruse. The piece is about 7 1/2 inches high. The base is about 3 inches across. The lower part is about 3 3/4 inches across and the top is about 2 inches in diameter. As an after thought, the gold speculaters used to pan for gold in streams where the water came from mountains. This is the same gold that is in this piece. The item will be double boxed and very well packed.

Pierced Earrings GP 800 Silver Pre Columbian Native American African Tribal Man
AuctionSage Sample Template Pierced Earrings GP 800 Silver Pre Columbian Native American African Tribal Man This auction is for a fabulous pair of vintage estate earrings with a primitive geometric design. The earrings are made of 800 silver(marked) with gold plated finish. The gold plated finish tests very strongly and could be 18K or better though there is no marking. Colombia souvenir Pre-Columbian artifact replica Gold Museum mineral samples
Up for auction is an unusual souvenir item from the Gold Museum in Bogota. Colombia. It's a small replica of a Pre-Columbian gold artifact, done in gold tone metal, and encased in lucite, along with two samples of some sort of mineral. The mineral looks like probably some type of gold-bearing ore. It has gold flecks in it, but the piece does not identify what it is. I believe the replica artifact is possibly gold plated. It says on the back that it's"Made by Colombian Goldsmiths, but it doesn't identify the ore or the metal. One of the mineral samples looks green and translucent in places, so may be jade or emerald? The sticker on the back is clearly visible in the last photo. I don't have any more information than what it says. I don't know the vintage of this piece. I just bought it at an estate sale. Michael Coe considers the origins and character of the script. Explores the world of the scribes and'keepers of the holy books' decoding their depiction in Maya art, and examines the media in which they worked, their tools, and their techniques. Coe brings his knowledge of hieroglyphic writing to bear on this previously little-known subject. Revealing the names and titles of Maya artists and other significant facts. Following in the tradition of his best-selling BREAKING THE MAYA CODE, which describes the scholarly community's attempts at decipherment, Coe relies heavily on cutting-edge breakthroughs in reading Maya script. But more than this, he demonstrates an excellent knowledge of art history and archaeology, setting forth quite a rich array of information. The artist-calligrapher enjoyed a high status in Classic Mayan society. So important were the scribes that they lived in their own palaces and worshipped their own patron gods. Their achievements are displayed in stone. Wood, stucco, shell, bone, murals and screenfold books, and are painted or carved on magnificent ceramic vessels placed as offerings to the dead and t

Although the Moche had no writing system. They left a vivid artistic record of their beliefs and activities in beautifully modeled and painted ceramic vessels, remarkable objects of gold, silver, and copper, sumptuous textiles, and carved and inlaid bone, wood, and stone. Tens of thousands of these objects can be seen today in museums and private collections throughout the world. Unfortunately. Nearly all of them have been looted from Moche tombs by grave robbers, and thus there is no record of the grave, or the archaeological site, or even the valley from which they came. This lack of information severely limits what could have been learned about the Moche if the graves had been excavated archaeologically and their contents systematically recorded. This study focuses on five extraordinary Moche tombs that were archaeologically excavated at the site of Dos Cabezas(between 1997 and 2000) The tombs are remarkable not only for the wealth of objects they contained but also because we know how the tombs were constructed. How they relate to one another both spatially and temporally, and what individuals they contained. The tombs provide an unusual oppor

Ancient Bead Necklace With 14k Yellow Gold Spacer Beads - Pre Columbian (?)
For your consideration. A necklace of green and brick red colored stones and gold spacer beads. The necklace has an avian idol in the center and is about 16 inches long. I do not have authentication for it but it is a piece that was made by my father who had a collection of precious and semi precious beads as well as pre Columbian beads. I believe these beads are carnelian and jadeite and the center bead is also Pre Columbian. The clasp is stamped 14k and I did my best to capture the stamp in the pictures; however the stamp is very small. The spacer beads are not magnetic. The necklace was my Mother's and she rarely wore it. She usually carefully stored it in her jewelry box. Items come from a smoke free home and are kept in a pet free part of the house.
