GJPaw Auctions is pleased to offer a fine antique Pre-Columbian ceramic blackware stirrup spout Vessel with Figure. From the Chimú culture. Peru. ... moreThe Chimú culture arose around 900 A.D. on the northern coast of Peru in a large adobe city in the Moche Valley. And was conquered by the Incas in 1470 AD. They are best known for their distinctive monochromatic pottery and fine metal work. The main types of Chimú ceramics are small sculptures, manufactured molded and shaped pottery for daily use and those made for ceremonial use for offerings at burials. The pottery is often in the shape of a creature. Or has a human figure sitting or standing on a cuboid bottle. The shiny black finish of most Chimú pottery was achieved by firing the pottery at high temperatures in a closed kiln, which prevented oxygen from reacting with the clay. This beautiful molded stirrup vessel measures 5 inches in width by 4 inches in depth by 7 inches in height(12.7 cm by 10.1 by 17.7 cm) The figure shows wear consistent with use and a Pre-Columbian dating. But generally is in very good condition. It is guaranteed authentic and would make a superb addition to any collection of Pre-Columbian ceramics. GJPaw Auctions has been in the Art business for over 25 years and is now expanding its operation to eBay. Our goal is to bring the same experience and excitement of collecting that we have been delivering in-person to collectors across the Globe at Primitive in Chicago. Every object we sell online has been carefully hand-selected with special attention to detail. Quality, and significance. We ship worldwide. Authentic Pre Columbian Mayan Narino Figural Bowl Jar w/traces of Design
I am listing three pieces of pre-Columbian pottery this week. One figural bowl and two figurines, so please check my other auctions. I will combine shipping on multiple purchases whenever possible. Here is a very old pottery bowl measuring 4-1/4 inches tall and is approximately 3-1/4 inches wide at the widest point. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or damage. There is wear as expected in pottery of this age. There are very faint traces of design still remaining. This is completely foreign territory for me. So please ask questions if you have them. Please see the photos for a more accurate description of the condition. I am using eBay's picture hosting service. But may have more photos embedded in the listing. Thank you and Happy Bidding! Please feel free to email us with any questions. Including shipping/handling quotes, but ... moredo not ask us to cancel or end our auctions early, or transact business outside of eBay. General Terms& Conditions: Important Shipping information: We ship via priority mail and use priority mail boxes. We package in the highest grade materials including new. Previously unused bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts. We include Insurance in the shipping estimate. If we have a brown box that the item will fit into, we will ship via parcel post or first class mail if you ask. The shipping price given by the ebay calculator is an estimate. If the actual costs are lower, we will issue refunds for overpayments. We understand that shipping costs can be expensive. We do our best to minimize the cost but if you email us before bidding or paying, we will do whatever we can to work with you. Insurance is included in shipping cost. Payment is expected within 3 days of close of auction. Shipments are generally made within 2 days of receipt of payment. Please email any questions or concerns you may have PRIOR to bidding. Pre-Columbian MAYAN CERAMIC BOWL, 10" dia. 3 leg, very Nice piece, Pot Bowl ?
I know little to nothing about this wonder part of history but I did sell a large Mayan collection some 20 years ago on Ebay with nothing but happy customers. I know enough to judge the real thing which this is. I respectfully offer this and some other pieces of art& history on Ebay. I know nothing about what figure this represents. Figure seems to have long horns to me. These are from an Estate I bought from a gentleman who worked for Halliburton traveling the world for 50 years looking for places to dig for oil. Please view my other listings. If somebody wanted all at one price I could chat about that. I will double box all of these pieces so they make their travel safely. Please note: this bowl has many little flaws due to age and who knows why. Please email with any questions. Thank you! approximate size 10" diameter. 7 inches ... moretall

Small Pre Columbian ? Primative Fertility Artifact ? Pit Fired Pottery
Small Estate Piece. I do not know it's history. I have shown it to a few people. Some of whom thought that it was ancient, and some thought it was a 1930-40's reproduction. It looks and feels very old to me. It is only about 1 1/4" x 1 1/4" and weighs 6.4 grams. It is like a small love potion vessel. Looks like at sometime there may have been a string tied about the top. May have been worn around the neck. What I do know for sure: This is a piece of tiny old pit fired potter. I so not clean old pieces. So there are marks on the pieces that might wash off. Please note small imperfections shown in pictures. I only accept returns on items accidently misrepresented. If you have any questions please ask before bidding. PayPal only.

I'm selling for a friend. If you have any questions. Or want to make an offer, please contact. Pre-Columbian Pottery Tripod with Animal figure. My friend acquired her pottery in Costa Rica in 1972 when it was still legal to take them out of the country. At that time, the pieces were taken to the National Museum in Costa Rica where they authenticated them and granted permission for them to leave the country. Unfortunately the paperwork was lost. I guarantee these to be authentic pre-Columbian era. Inside one or more of the legs are little balls so that it will make rattling sounds when shaken. Lot of 3 Pre-Columbian Pottery Fragment Idol Heads
Received these as a gift several years ago from a collector of Meso-American antiquities and art. Not sure of specific provenance on these. But likely Mexico or Central America. First two(from left to right) look like handles, the right-most one is a bit different and seems to be a little heavier. First is 4 inches tall by 3 inches wide, and second and third ones are 3 inches tall by 2 to 3 inches wide. ag6 2.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp73%28c%3Eag6%3E2-146fe0d2aa3-0x111-

PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR FIGURE POTTERY BIRDMAN SHAMAN JAMACOAQUE AUTHENTIC
PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY FIGURE ECUADOR JAMACOAQUE Very unusual authentic pottery ploychrome figural depiction of a birdman or Shaman. The figure is wearing a feathered costume taking on the image of a bird. The head has a headdress with long side lappets that are not broken. He is wearing a nose ring and a necklace with a pendent that hangs over a feathered vest. The ornate wings have rectangular decorations that seem to have faces in them. There are no visible arms but there are human feet. The figure measures 3 1/2 inches tall and has a wingspan of 4 inches. It stands perfetly flat with the head bent slightly forward looking down. It needs no support to stand as the feet are flat. There is one hole in the base. The back is un decorated and has a broken tail. In spite of the damage the majority of the figure is in excellent condition with ... moreno cracks and nice detail. Some slight rough edges on the top of the head that does not alter the shape. Terra cotta color clay with red and turquoise paint. Jamacoaque 500 A.D. to 1000 A.D. This is not a reproduction and is from a private collection.
PRE COLUMBIAN ECUADOR AUTHENTIC POTTERY FRAGMENT ANIMAL OR SHAMAN HEAD
PRE COLUMBIAN POTTERY HEAD FRAGMENT ECUADOR Very unusual authentic pottery head fragment that is difficult to identify as to the subject. It apprears to be an animal with a long snout. Some of which is missing, and the remains of two horns on the back of the head. Since it is wearing a rather ornate headdress it might be an zoomorphic representation of a Shaman but there is not enough of the figure to make any kind of distinction. The headress has the remains of red paint and there are pieces missing. The cheeks are puffed out, some of the figures have puffed heeks attributed to chewing of coca leaves but that is doubtful for an animal and possible or a Shaman. The clay color is mottled grayish tan. Some fine crystaline deposits evident in the clay. One cheek is depressed as it it were done before firing or collapsed after firing as it is ... morenot broken. There is a small firing hole at the top of the head and the head is hollow. It is 2 3/4 inches high and 2 3/4 inches across the front. The base where it is broken is a circle 1 3/4 inches in diameter with a hole that is 3/4 inches in diameter. It will sit flat as it is in most of the photographs or will mount nicely. It was in a private collection from Eccuador with La Tolita and Jamacoaque fragments but since I am not an expert I cannot positively identify the culture or the exact age. These two cultures span from 300 B.C. to 1000 A.D. This is not a reproduction.

Pre Columbian Hohokam culture 2 Stone Palettes Sacaton Phase 950 - 1125 AD
Hi! Up for auction are two ancient Hohokam culture Sedentary Period Sacaton Phase Stone Palettes from the Phoenix Basin region. They are dated from 950 to 1125 AD. From the pictures. These two ancient Hohokam culture Stone Palettes were made of slate and have raised borders consisting of opposing crosshatched triangles. These two palettes were found containing traces of red, white, and green paint pigments. The red pigment is lead slag encrustations. It was likely lead carbonate and when burned glowed a strong red color(Hawly in Gladwin& others, 1965;282-289) The green glaze pigment patches are copper ore. Provenance: These Hohokam culture Sedentary Period Sacaton Phase Stone Palettes were found in a ruin along the Gila River in Florence. Arizona, USA. In the early 1960s, they were collected on a privately owned farm by an Arizonan artifact ... morecollector with permission from the landowner. Therefore. These artifacts are perfectly legal to buy and sell under U.S. Statute covering cultural patrimony Code 2600. CHAPTER 14. Background History: During the Colonial and Sedentary Period. Many palettes were quite well shaped, exquisitely carved, and may have not been used to mix paint at all. Many palettes may have been used to grind hallucinogenic plants(Lowell 1990, White 2004) Most palettes easily fit in ones hand being rectangular in shape. Most measure between four to eight inches in length. However they were made in a wide range of sizes. Palettes are usually made of slate or slate-like schist. Earlier and later undecorated ones were usually made of harder stone. Many have a slight basin in or near the center caused by grinding. Some have been found containing traces of red, white, and yellow paints, although palettes may have been used to grind organic material as well. Many have been found with patches of lead slag encrustations on the surfaces, some of these have small vitreous green glaze patches also. Most palettes were offerings used in cremation ceremonies. But many were not. Palettes may have been use

c.250-900 AD ancient pre Columbian pottery MAYAN MASKETTE from bowl or pot
This pre-Columbian pottery shard or maskette is from the Mayan culture and measures 2 1/4" high x 1 1/2" wide and would have originally been attached to the rim of a Mayan human effigy pot. Dating c.250-900 AD. This example is the finest example I have had over the years of a well executed sculpture of a Mayan with huge nose and body piercings and quite frankly he is one ugly dude! If you collect early pottery from Central America then this inexpensive but attractive 1.400 year old Mayan maskette will look great in your display and will always get a big smile by any of your guests you show it too! c.250-900 AD ancient pre Columbian pottery MAYAN BOWL w/lug handles
This pre-Columbian pottery vessel is from the Mayan culture and has a diameter of approx. 8" and is 2" high. This example originally had two lug handles with finger depression on each side though this example is missing the one lug handle and has one rim shard missing. Dating c.250-900 AD. This example is the typical"poor mans" version since some Mayan bowls can be quite extravagant in style and workmanship. Condition: one lug handle is missing and the other has a chip; one large rim shard was glued into place and one 1 1/2" section of rim is missing; 5-6 minor rim nicks; overall about 95% intact and a nice example of a Mayan bowl. If you collect early pottery from Central America then this inexpensive but attractive 1.400 year old bowl will look nice in your display(complete bowls can retail for $400+ and cost considerably ... moremore when decorated even when they have some losses like this fine example) Make sure you check out our other Indian trade goods in our ebay store by clicking the EAGLE ANTIQUES logo above then click the"NATIVE AMERICAN" category on left hand side.
