18th-century 1790 Named American Revolution Captain's Pantry Safe Deposit Box
Primitive American pantry box. 6 inches in diameter, 3.5 inches high. This box was used as a bank safe deposit content holder for Revolutionary War Veteran Nehemiah Jones. A glued-on, quill-ink label reads: Boston. June 2nd, 1790- Received of Captain Nehemiah Jones twenty-one pounds in part pay for rent received by him. W Badger" Nehemiah Jones appears on which offers the following. Copied in Jones' handwriting from a family Bible: I. Nehemiah Jones, was born in Norton Bristol county, Massachusetts, June 17th, 1760, served as private in Captain Noah Allen's Company, Thirteenth Massachusetts Regiment, enlisted May 1777, and was discharged January, 1778. At the evacuation of Boston I stood on Dorchester Hill; the same year I went to New Marlborough, Massachusetts. I was at the taking of Burgoyne in the Continental Army and now ... morereceive a pension for my services. In January 1787 I moved with my family to German Flats, now Westmoreland, and mine was the only family within two miles There was but three families in Utica seven in Whitesboro and three in Rome. Apparently he rented his property after moving. And owed it to a creditor? This is hypothesis, but seems pretty clear based on date and odd construction of the sentence on the label. This is a really cool piece of first-person history. It's likely that the box had already been around for a while by the time it was labeled in 1790. I bought it in an antique store in Haverhill, Mass just this week. I couldn't find anything on"W. Badger" other than his listing as a head-of-household in the. My guess was he was a banker of some sort. But I couldn't find anything. Condition wise. This box is excellent. If only it had the lid! But those of you who collect pantry boxes likely have a 6-inch period lid that will be a good match, which will only increase the value on this unique piece. There are no cracks. Breaks, reapirs or damage to this piece beyond normal age wear- see the photos for all the information you need to bid. No caveats beyon

These veneers are 1/8" thick and provide strength and stability to the door. The door could be sanded and refinished several times before the door would need to be re-veneered. There are 2. Long, vertical, recessed panels on both sides of the door. We acquired the door with the mirror broken. We removed the remaining glass to reveal the beautiful, unstained birch wood on the interior side of the door. This is an original antique Red Wing 1/2 lb pantry jar. It came out of a one room schoolhouse in Iowa where it had been used for crayons. Pictures speak for themselves. The lid as you can see has some chips but no cracks. The jar is perfect. More than likely the lid could be restored by someone who knows how to do such work. This primitive pantry cake has been spiced with cinnamon with a coffee stained cheesecloth wrapped around it and tied with twine to give it a really nice prim look. I used an old strainer and grunged it with spices to create a grubby old looking shoo-fly screen. This is a great primitive look to add to your prim kitchen and smells great! Primitive Antique Square Nailed Pantry Box
This is an antique pantry box. It measures 6 3/8" in dia. and is 2 7/8" tall. It has just been oiled which is making it look so bright. Altho it does have a nice patina. My house is very dry in the winter so I like to keep my wooden primitives oiled for their protection. It is in pretty good condition. The inside is nice and clean and it is very sturdy. The top has some marks as pictured and there is an age crack as pictured and a little chipping on rim edge. Still a very nice old pantry box with a primitive look! Antique Primitive Painted Round Wood Pantry Box
This is an antique original painted pantry box. It looks to have mustard paint over green. It has square nails around rim and base. It measures 6 1/2" in dia. and is 2 5/8" tall and has some weight to it. I had just oiled it with some of my other pantry boxes that's why the bottom and inside look so bright. My house is very dry in the winter so I like to keep my primitives oiled for their protection. It is in very nice condition. There is one line crack 1/4" down from the rim running vertical so it isn't seen under the lid. It isn't really noticeable with the lid off but felt I should mention it. A very nice primitive for any primitive collection. Please see my other items as I have just acquired some nice primitives such as 2 early pastry boards. Early Country Red Painted Pine Grain or Pantry Bin Folk Primitive
Early pine grain or pantry. Painted a classic shade of red. This piece has become distressed naturally over time giving a lot of character. Two steel strap hinges hold the slanted lift top in place. Basic nailed construction throughout. No maker's marks. Unsure of exact age, but would estimate that this bin dates from the early 1900's. Except for the cosmetic wear. Which gives this piece its style, the bin is in very good condition. There is a crack to the wood at the top near one of the hinges, See picture. but no other damage.
