For your consideration from my collection of Asian antiques is this vintage Japanese Netsuke. This Netsuke is a beautifully carved boxwood pair of birds ... morethat is signed by the artist, as I have attempted to show in photo 4. The piece showcases the intricate artistry of Japanese culture, with a focus on the use of wood as the primary material. The rich brown color of the wood gives the piece a vintage appeal. I do not know the actual age of the piece, but it has b een in my collection for many years and the craftsmanship suggests that it is a vintage original. Item Ships Directly From Our U.S Warehouse. No Long Waiting Time From Oversea Freight! Item Description: up for sale is a solid fine boxwood hand crafted Japanese gorgeous netsuke. Item size is approximately 2 inches. Very detailed hand carvings and great hand crafting, excellent workmanship. What's a netsuke: Netsuke is a miniature sculptures that were invented in 17th century Japan to serve a practical function(the two Japanese characters ne+tsuke mean"root" and"to attach" Traditional Japanese garment—robes called kosode and kimono—had no pockets. However men who wore them needed a place to store their personal belongings such as pipes, tobacco, money, seals, or medicines. Their solution was to place such objects in containers(called sagemono) hung by cords from the robes' sash( obi) The containers may be a pouch ... moreor a small woven basket. But the most popular were beautifully crafted boxes( inro) Which were held shut by an ojime. Which were sliding beads on cords. Whatever the form of the container, the fastener that secured the cord at the top of the sash was a carved, button-like toggle called a netsuke. Netsuke. Like the inro and ojime, evolved over time from being strictly utilitarian into objects of great artistic merit and an expression of extraordinary craftsmanship. Such objects have a long history reflecting the important aspects of Japanese folklore and life. Netsuke production was most popular during the Edo period in Japan. Around 1615-1868. This is gorgeous carved Japanese netsuke- I believe it is carved from bovine bone. It stands 6cms tall and is 3cms wide. It is in excellent condition. Not much more I can tell you- please take the time to enlarge the photographs as they form part of the description. I describe my items to the best of my non-expert ability- including any and all flaws. If I have misrepresented an item. I am happy to refund. I am happy to answer any enquiries. Ebay can be lots of fun- but remember communication is VERY important. If I have misquoted the postage- I always refund the difference. I am very happy to offer combined postage. To ensure the items reach you safely I allow plenty of packing. If you feel the postage is excessive- please don't buy from me- an all star feedback is very important. I do not charge a handling or packaging fee.

CHINESE OLD JADE HAND CARVED FIGURE PENDANT/NETSUKE - FIRST CLASS
Pictures speak louder than words. And this is a very pretty one. It has a very tiny chip on one arm which is age related, but hardly noticeable. Apart from that a very nicely carved item, and I believe of some considerable age. Thanks for looking.
Vtg Silver Jewelled Marcasite NETSUKE Ladies Womens Bracelet Watch-Beautiful-
Lovely ladies vintage watch. Netsuke- Marcasite-Jeweled with rhinestone. Measure 6& 3/4 long. Delicate. Face is 1/2 inches. I do not see any markings for the metal make-up on this watch. There is one small rhinestone missing. Not noticeable. Almost missed it without magnifying tool. This is not working at this time. I believe it just needs a battery. It does not appear broken at all. I do my best to describe as best I can. I do accept returns.

Painted Geisha Carving - Perfect for the Netsuke Collector
Geisha Carving This weekend(June 8th) was particularly exciting because one of my favorite shows came to town. Antiques Roadshow was filming in Jacksonville this weekend. And I won two tickets in their limited(only 3000 tickets available) ticket lottery. This oriental art collection was a natural, because I knew very, very little about the values and/or the rarity. One of Roadshow's senior appraisers. Lark Mason, was gracious enough to take the time to examine each piece and give me an auction estimate of their value, as well as a qualified opinion of the item's makeup as well as a knowledgeable estimate of the age. Offered for sale is a carving that features a lovely Painted Geisha. This carving is in exceptional condition. Perfect for collectors. The previous owner only displayed it in a closed glass case. The colors are finely ... moredrawn and still brilliant. Mr. Mason concluded that this was probably made for the tourist market in the early 1900s, but he did remark that it was particularly appealing and should be of interest to collectors. It measure s about 1 3/8 x 1 1/4 inches wide and 2 1/8 inches tall. There are no chips. Cracks, or wear to the unique form of the carving. As mentioned. This figurine is in exceptional condition and would make an absolutely splendid gift for that very special person on your list. even if that person is you. Please view the pictures carefully. I generally take my photographs outside in sunlight to accurately depict the colors and conditions of the items I am offering. So if you see any marks or colors that look like damage. it is the sun. The clouds, or me. When it is safely possible. I try to combine shipments to save on postage and packaging requirements. There are some instances where that may not be possible, so if you have won more than one auction, please wait until you receive an invoice from me. As always. Shipping amounts are estimates only and I always refund any overages that may occur. If you cannot understand the reasoning for my shipping method, and will late
