Chauncey Jerome Wall Mantel Clock, New Haven Conn. Mid 19th Century.
Up for auction is a Chauncey Jerome New Haven.Conn wall clock, mid 19th century. I found some writing inside the back of the clock face in pencil. Ohio, Wash,DC looks like 1866?best I could make out. The case on the front is a flame mahogany veneer. The original paper label fell apart aparently and they manage to find a company that sells reproduction replacement label but the clock is marked. I also. Have more pictures but the system only takes 12 that I can download.You can see I only use a oil to keep the veneer from drying out. I suggest using a simigloss varnish to keep it shine. There is a key with the clock the face is a little off center so when you wind up the clock you have to ajust the face. One of the hole is missig the little brass ring on the left where the key is wound up. There was the little nail type metal that was used ... moreto hold the clock to the wall as seen in the photo. I have sence removed it. There are some cracks on the back from age otherwise it is a good solid clock. I am selling the clock to apply funds toward a Rehabilitation Project on an old building. I am pleased to offer this Large And Unusual Lucite Bracket or Crystal Regulator Style Clock for auction. This attractive clock reflects the mid century modern style of both George Nelson and Arthur Umanoff and has a well made West German Hermle Bim Bam Bell Strike 8 day key wind movement. An R/A pendulum and an enameled porcelain like dial. The nicely detailed case has a front and back door, ornate brass hinges, door latches and a top handle. The brass has aged nicely and has a beautiful patina. The R/A pendulum swinging behind the Lucite support columns gives an interesting optical illusion or hall of mirrors effect. This high quality clock displays beautifully from all sides. As should be expected on a vintage Lucite Clock it has some scratches and imperfections that do not detract from its overall appearance. Topsy Turvey Doll African or Jamican Mid Century
Vintage African or Jamaican Topsy Turvy Doll This beauty is made of hard plastic. One doll has Black body, arms and face while the other is a lighter chocolate colored body, face and arms. They both come with earrings, a basket of fruit on their head which has a bandana scarf and they both have hair out the front.Their face painting is in great condition. Their nails painted red and their arms are jointed.The darker doll has a lovely cloth skirt with a satin and lace bottom, also and old time lace collar. Mid Century Metal Pelton & Crane Dental Cabinet Stand Glass Door Medical Yellow
Mid century dental cabinet made by Pelton& Crane of Detroit. MI. Pelton& Crane was founded in 1900 by a dentist and an electrical engineer and is still in business making appliances, furniture and accessories for use in dental offices. This cabinet most likely dates from the early to mid 1900's and is mostly made of metal painted a soft yellow color. It has a two tiered top surface, probably with the extra black shelf for use holding instruments or tools. The top drawer contains a white enamel dish and has a glass or crystal knob. The lower cabinet has ridges in the side for shelves and sits behind a bevelled glass door. Arched feet and an overhanging top. There is a metal company tag inside the top drawer, as you can see from the pictures. Overall. This piece is in fair to good condition, but does have some wear consistent with ... moreage and use. There are chips to the paint in several places, most notably at corners and edges and across the top of the black tray. Some of the exposed metal has minor rusting. Also the knob for the lower cabinet is missing and we do not have shelves for the interior. Otherwise, there are no breaks or visible repairs. The cabinet stands 34 1/2" tall and measures 23 1/2" wide and 13 1/4" deep. Offered- A mid 19th century Bronze/ Brass Ottoman Cartridge/ Ammunition Case. The case measures 3 3/4 inches across the top- it is 4 1/2 inches from top to bottom- and is 3/4 inches wide. The case is beautifully incised with a central figure- and bordered on all 4 corners with very stylized Birds(Dragons? and Lions. There is very intricate incising around the border and across the top of the case. The Lid opens and closes on a very sturdy hinge. The back of the case is plain- with a riveted belt of sash loop. This is a beautifully preserved piece- i have not polished it is quite clean with traces of old polish. I would date this piece around 1850/1875.
