A stunning and rare example of a Medieval silver mount. Date- 14th- 15th Century. A cast silver mount or belt fitting of trapezoidal design depicting a crown. Two small integrally cast rivets are present on the reverse. One rivet is broken close to the plate. The back of the plate has a distinct pattern consisting of radiating curved lines. These are consistent with casting using cuttlefish bone. This mount has been recorded with the Portable Antiquities Scheme and was declared under the UK treasure act and disclaimed. Silver. Antique ? Medieval ? Halberd Halbert Swiss Voulge Pole Weapon Battle Spear Lance
I have no idea of how old this item is. Or where it might have come from. Perhaps it is a Medieval antique, but then again it might be a reproduction- I have no way of telling as I am not familiar with these types of items. I have included numerous pictures to try to give the viewer a good idea of how the item is made. Please view all 12 of the pictures and the zoom feature is available. Also if you click on the main picture it will enlarge it and then larger images of all of the other pictures can be seen as well. I believe this to be a Halberd. Also known as a Halbert. This is only the end section, as the pole end is missing. From what I have read a Halberd would have been used in battle, or it could have possibly been used for guard purposes. I believe that there is a chance that it could have been used on horse-back, but I believe that ... moreit was mostly used by someone on foot. Not only does it have a spiked. Spear end, but the design of the Halberd would have also enabled it to be used as an axe type of weapon that would have the ability to penetrate armor. I have also read where the semi hooked ends could be used in battle by a warrior on foot to pull an enemy off of his horse. There is a section(one of the hooks) of the Halberd that has broken off and this can best be seen in the 11th picture. It looks as though someone has recently tried to crudely sharpen some of the edges and I have tried to show this in pictures#7 and#8. It's total length is 22 3/4" The long pointed spear end is 4 sided. All in all quite an interesting piece. Which I believe would be a nice addition to anyone's old weapon collection. Large Wrought Iron Sconce, Medieval French Castle Style 2 Electric Gothic Lights
Large sconce with two electric lights. Total length is about 25" The two lights are about 17" from the top of the light bulb to the bottom of the twisted wrought iron. It originally had amber crackle glass shades. I broke them. yep.What else is new? They stood about 3" or so above the bulb. So you can figure about 20" from top to bottom with shades in them. It will hold glass shades with a 3" opening at the bottom. The iron is textured. Not sure what with. Really nice visual effect. Great looking overall piece! Curled and twisted black iron. Nice! Medieval Bronze Enamaled Russian Icon Pyx?
This is old and I don't know much about it. The chain measures a total of 19 inches. The case looks to be made of bronze and measures 2 inches in length(not including the drops) and almost 2 inches wide. The top has a little hook where you can open it. I think these were used by traveling priest for little prayer books or for the host. The front shows Christ sitting on a chair with 2 Saints next to him holding scrolls. The back shows 3 Saints holding various items. The front has retained most of the enameling but the back shows loss of the enamel. This looks to be Russian. Late Medieval Period Document – 2 Seals - Handwritten Manuscript on Parchment
Here is an old document. I can’t read this document-I can't read the language it is written in; nor am I an expert on this type of item. However. I will speculate on the date of the item. The number 1492 is written on the backside and on the front there appears to be a date written in the last line of text— cccc. then“ xcij” or 400+92. Before the cccc xcij is an“ M” with some other symbols/characters. I see the words“ marie magdalene” at the very end of the document. Which I think is interesting, but I don’t know the significance of that, if any. Have a look for yourself. I have provided lots of close-ups in the 12 Listing Photos. The condition of this item: The document is a single sheet folded down the middle. And again along the bottom edge where it is folded up over the front as shown in the listing photos. The parchment is yellowed ... moreand feels very dry. It is wrinkled and stiff. There are some abrasions. One corner curls. The parchment is thin in spots, especially at the right side. I also note that there is some scaling of the parchment in places(I’d describe it as“like dry skin”mostly on the backside(see listing photo 12 for a close-up of this) There is some spotting and stains on the front. The backside also has some stains, and there is considerable yellow spotting and some large splotches(see listing photos) Some of the handwriting is rubbed/worn off and places, both front and back. The seals are chipped around the edges, have some holes in them, are rubbed and worn, and have some other damage as shown in the listing photos. On the back of the seals, it looks like someone’s fingerprints were pressed in. Please view all 12 listing photos using mouse-over/close-up feature. 3 piece medieval sideless surcoat and under tunic SCA Renaissance size M-L
This auction is for a complete 3 piece outfit. The deep blue under tunic is new and never worn. It is made to a size M-L women's pattern. The fabric is a cotton poly blend for simple laundering(machine wash and dry) It measures about 50 inches around just under the arms. About 53 inches from high shoulder to hem, about 60 inches around at the hem and the sleeves are about 21 inches from underarm to wrist. The under tunic can be worn alone with(or without) the metallic gold and white cord shown in the photo. The cord measures about 4 yards long. The white sideless surcoat has been previously worn. It is a women's size M-XL. It has a very pretty woven in squares fabric pattern. It is also machine wash and dry. It is trimmed at the neck edge and armhole edges with a 3/8 inch wide black, blue, silver and green metallic trim. Where I have ... moreapplied the trim the fabric has been turned with the raw edge covered by the trim so you won't see any raw fabric edges. The surcoat is very full and flows nicely when you walk. It could easily be worn with other tunics or a chemise underneath for different looks.

Medieval Silver Coin Ferdinand I. H.R.E. 1526-1564) After Suleiman the Magnificent defeated Ferdinand's brother-in-law Louis II. King of Bohemia and of Hungary, at the battle of Mohács on 29 August 1526, Ferdinand was elected King of Bohemia in his place. The throne of Hungary became the subject of a dynastic dispute between Ferdinand and John Zápolya, voivode of Transylvania. Each was supported by different factions of the nobility in the Hungarian kingdom; Ferdinand also had the support of Charles V, and Zápolya, after defeat by Ferdinand at the Battle of Tokaj in 1527, the support of Suleiman. Ferdinand was able to win control only of western Hungary because Zápolya clung to the east and the Ottomans to the conquered south. Zápolya's widow, Isabella Jagiello, ceded Royal Hungary and Transylvania to Ferdinand ... morein the Treaty of Weissenburg of 1551. In 1554 Ogier Ghiselin de Busbecq was sent to Istanbul by Ferdinand to discuss a border treaty over disputed land with the Sultan, Suleiman. A further Ottoman attack on Vienna was repelled in 1533. In that year Ferdinand signed a peace treaty with the Ottoman Empire. Splitting the Kingdom of Hungary into a Habsburg sector in the west and John Zápolya's domain in the east, the latter effectively now a vassal state of the Ottoman Empire. In 1538. By the Treaty of Nagyvárad, Ferdinand became Zápolya's successor, but he was unable to enforce this agreement during his lifetime because in 1540 John II Sigismund Zápolya, infant son of John Zápolya and Isabella Jagiello, was elected the new king of Hungary.
