Small. Antique helm found in an old box. I do not know much about it, but judging by what appears to be hand forged rivets and metal working I believe this helmet is old. I took several pictures of the item so that you could judge for yourself. Even the intricate designs on the helm aren't exactly even on both sides, which indicates to me that it was possibly handmade. The helmet is small and fits in my hand with only a little overage. It is worn with some weak, worn metal parts which can be seen the in the photographs. Overall. It is highly detailed with a working face mask and everything. Colada is one of the of the two swords recorded in the epic poem. Cantar de Mio Cid. The story tells how the two swords were won in combat. Although there is no official record of the true existence of either sword, recreations have been imagined through Spanish history. Sorry- we do not know what year this was manufactured. Medieval reproduction battle helmet. Seems to be built of nice sturdy steel. Showing some surface tarnishing that could be easily polished out. I like the patina as it is. Beautiful Medieval Gold & Sapphire Stirrup Ring 15th Century Agincourt c. 1415
On offer this week is a superb and rare medieval gold stirrup ring. Set with a lovely blue sapphire. This ring dates to the late 14th or early 15th century(c. 1380- 1430 AD) we can accurately date it through the shape of the bezel(with a four claw type setting) which was fashionable around 1400 AD. Such a ring would have once belonged to a Knight or very rich merchant. Originally this ring was found in Northern France though likely belonged to an Englishman(either serving during the Hundred Years war) or by an English merchant trading within the Anglo Gallic territories- most of Northern France at this time was occupied as English territory. One can only imagine what wonderful sites this ring once witnessed, or the brutality and carnage during the Hundred Years War. Around the time this ring was made, the English(lead by King Henry V) defeated ... morethe French at the famous battle of Agincourt 1415. Much of the gold and jewels plundered in the aftermath, found its way into gold jewellery and coinage. It is in excellent condition for an excavated ring. Though does have some small nicks due to the softness of the gold. The crosshatch decoration on the band is quite worn in places, with the band being slightly mishapen. The genuine sapphire gemstone is a really nice blue colour, though has a surface crack that is not deep but likely due to an impact during its long life. The gold has been tested to around 22k or slightly higher. A great investment piece of historical jewellery from the time of King Henry V and the battle of Agincourt. Item: As you can see in the pictures i offer you this great looking medieval relic. The item is from an old private collection and it wascleaned and conservated before. It is a really nice one. The photos speak for themselfes! Excellent piece with a small repair. The star's spindle is new made. I suggest it was restaurated because i think it was cracked during the cleaning procedure. The spur was made around 1350-1450 AD! I suggest this nice piece could be great for both collectors both history lovers! The item is 8.7 centimeters wide. 14 centimeters long.
