Superb Unique Art Deco Nouveau Lamp Semi-Nude Figural Women Painted Glass Panels
This auction is for a Fantastic and Highly Unusual and Unique Art Deco/ Art Nouveau metal Lamp with three bent arm sockets and a body that also lights up. It has three Semi Nude. Kneeling Women and glass panels that are painted in a colorful pastoral scene and Metal Leaf Shaped Bulb Bobesches. Like I said. Highly Unusual… The Lamp is a Real Eye- Catcher and would instantly become the Decorative Focal Point of any room. The lamp stands about 19 1/2 inches tall and has a circular base that is about 7 1/2 inches across. The three figural woman are on their knees. Clutching cloth around their partially nude bodies. Most of the metal lamp is painted brown. But there are spots of hand painting in yellow and blue and green, such as on the intricately molded glass panel frame beams that are styled in a nou veau floral and vine pattern. The lamp has ... morethree arms and sockets and has a total of 18 clear acrylic prisms. 6 dangling from each of the three bulb bobesches. The piece is in very good condition. Especially for its age. There are no dents or breaks in the metal or chips or cracks in the glass. I have tested the lamp and it works well. There is some age- appropriate and minor loss of paint(see last photo) It doesn't detract from the overall appeal of this Great Find. The curved glass panels are hand painted in a pastoral scene with a house and tree and flying bird in bold. Vibrant colors of red, green, blue and orange. The body casts a great. Soothing glow when lighted. There are no manufactures marks that I can see so I am not certain of the maker or the exact vintage. It is clearly vintage and perhaps antique. Vintage Cambridge ELAINE etch hurricane lamp, Martha base plus extra base
Here's a great little example of vintage elegant glassware which was produced by the famous Cambridge Glass Company of Cambridge. Ohio. This is(I believe) Cambridge's#1617 Hurricane Lamp, featuring Cambridge's"Elaine" etched decoration, which first appeared in the mid-1930's and continued in production into the early 1950's at least(Cambridge went out of business around 1955) The base for the Hurricane Lamp is Cambridge's"Martha" blank candlestick, and as you can see I have an extra one of these(I'd imagine these were originally two hurricane lamps, but the second met an ugly fate sometime in the past sixty years) The Martha candlestick is about 5-3/16" across. And about 4-3/4" tall. With the hurricane lamp placed on the candlestick, the whole getup is about 8-5/8" tall. Consolidated Art Deco Amber Glass Lamp / Light Shade
Art Deco Consolidated Amber Glass Lamp or Light Shade This amber glass shade was made by Consolidated Lamp and Glass Company of Coraopolis. Pennsylvania in the late 1920's or early 1930's. The shade is about 12 inches wide and 5 inches tall. There are no chips or cracks in the glass. There are some small cloudy spots in the finish in a few areas of the shade which are typical for a shade of this age. I could not get any of the spots to show up in my photos because they are so light. There are also a few paint dots on the glass. The size of a pin head. I have seen shades of this design with glass tabs on the inside of the shade which require a"fitter shade" which twists into the larger shade. This shade does not have the tabs on the inside of the shade. Please look at my last photo to see one example of how this shade can ... morebe hung as a ceiling light. These two shades are high fired milk or custard glass with fired on decoration. They have solid brass mounts which screw onto a standard light socket that is threaded under the light bulb. In the photo where it is lit. I used a 15 watt bulb. The shade can be used in several ways; on a socket hanging by the cord like the old days or some other inverted fixture, or maybe a candlestick lamp, or downward from a gooseneck type affair, and probably other ways too. Each is 5" in diameter and 2-1/2" high plus the treaded mount extends another 1/2" There are a few tiny chips on the underside rim, kind of expected, nothing bad.
