I will begin by saying I have little to no knowledge of oriental ceramics.I will try my best to describe what I've learned about this piece. Please feel free to share with me any knowledge you may have about this piece or the marking on it. I would love to learn more about this type of pottery/art. This dish is fairly heavy. Is a grayish-white with a blue floral pattern. I say"flow blue" in the title because it appears to slightly'run' in a few places.I may not be using the term correctly. The bowl is 7 1/8" across and stands about 1 1/2" tall. There are a few glaze pops and one area of light smear blue paint that more than likely was applied during production(see up close pics) No chips. Cracks or other damage. I researched the mark using the amazing resources available through the Gotheberg website. I found ... morea mark which is very similar(again. I have little knowledge of these marks.it looked identical to me but I'm not an expert by any means) The description the website have for this mark was"Kangxi period make" but was actually made later.If you are reading this I have a feeling you know way more than I do and will be able to determine if this is correct. A large saucer dish. Signed with the six character seal of Emporer Kangxi, in double circle.I believe this to be mark and period, and will date to circa 1680-1700. The centre is decorated with a Lotus flower growing out of water, this is surrounded by two dragons. The exterior is also finely painted with Lotus flowers. This sits on a neatly turned foot which shows remnants of sand which has adhered to it during the firing, picture 5. The outer body is decorated with under glaze blue scenes with what appears to be fish and ducks. It has a rich bubble infused glaze. It has a Kangxi double ring marks on the bottom and possibly dates of the period. It measures approximately 3 + 5/8 inches high and 5 + 7/8 inches across the top. This is a gorgeous bowl from china. Decorated in the rare and highly sought-after famille noir palette. Pair of dragons. With flowers and leaves surrounding. Bears a 6-character mark identical to authentic Kangxi marks(later fakes and reproductions often have an imitated Kangxi mark. But only 4 characters. We are not yet certain if the mark is authentic(sent photos to Christie's for evaluation. so this bowl is priced accordingly. A Fine and Impressive Chinese Porcelain Cong Vase Kangxi mark but 19th Century This big square form vase. Modelled after an archaic ritualistic vessel, is decorated on each side with eight trigrams beneath a conical neck. The base carries a six character Kangxi reign mark(1662-1722) Well drawn, but the vase is of this period and most likely second half of the 19th Century. It is identical to one in the Beijing National Palace Museum(see link below and image) although theirs is a celadon colour and perhaps slightly later than mine. Condition Very good overall. One corner at the top has very minor surface fritting which appears to be in the manufacturing. Fritting was common on 17th and 18th Century Chinese porcelain and less so on 19th Century as glaze and firing techniques altered. Painted with a scene from the‘Romance of the Western Chamber’ by Wang Shifu. The charger measuring 10 3/8 inches in diameter painted with a scene from the romance play which originated in the Yuan Dynasty(1271-1368) it depicts ladies in a terrace veranda setting with playfully and rather curiously animated children in a garden setting, the border is painted with seated figures, animals willow, pine and otherwise as clearly shown, the reverse with simple sprays of chrysanthemum and other flowers. Chinese Kangxi Emperor Qing Dynasty Ginger Jar 17" Tall 10" in diameter Tiny imperfections in the outside surface of ceramics can be caused by glaze contractions and are somewhat common on Chinese and other Asian Ceramic Art. They appear like small indents in the glaze. The cause of glaze contractions can a fleck of embedded material or oil under the glaze. That prevents the glaze from completely covering the clay. During firing, the glaze will not be as thick and show up as a little depression. Larger contractions appear dark colored because dirt can be entrenched. The majority of ancient Chinese ceramics have glaze contractions or rust spots due to the nature of the production process centuries ago. The bottom has a Kangxi Emperor Qing Dynasty marks.
