ALSO CARRYING A MARK TO THE CENTRE OF THE REVERSE OF THE PLATE. THERE ARE NUMEROUS IMPERFECTIONS WITHIN THE GLAZE WHICH COULD INDICATES THE LIKELIHOOD THAT IT WAS A PROVINCIAL PIECE AND IF SO, WAS PRODUCED IN THE SOUTHERN CHINESE COAST(SUCH AS SWATOW, FUKIEN OR DEHUA) RATHER THAN A JINGDEZHEN PRODUCT. THERE ARE QUITE A FEW SMALL CHIPS TO THE RIM OF THIS PLATE AND UNFORTUNATELY. WE HAVE JUST FOUND AN EXTREMELY HARD TO SEE HAIRLINE CRACK WHICH IS 1 AND QUARTER INCHES LONG, RADIATING FROM THE RIM SLIGHTLY DIAGONALLY TOWARDS THE CENTRE, BUT MOST OF THE TIME, IT ISN'T EVEN VISIBLE, AND CAN ONLY BE PICKED UP IN VERY STRONG LIGHT. A piece of ancient history! Up for auction is a porcelain bowl from China's Kangxi Dynasty. Which dates from the late 1600s to early 1700s. This Kangxi Famille Verte ancient Chinese bowl measures 8.5 inches in diameter and 1.5 inches high. There are two small chips on this bowl. The largest chip is approximately 1/4 inch and is on the top of and side of the rim. Another one is approximately 1/8th of an inch and barely visible(I had to run my finger around the rim in order to feel it to know it is there) Some rough edge around the base. Some color fading and normal signs of wear for a porcelain piece this old. This bowl has the lotus marking on the bottom. Avid collector of Asian artifacts, particularly Chinese Porcelain. This item being offered is a 19th Century(or older) Chinese Famille Rose Vase with a Kangxi Mark in underglaze blue to the Base. Dimensions are approximately 14" in height, approximately 7" in width and from what I could tell weighs between 1 to 2 kilograms. Gold guilding is in pretty good shape. There's some soot or something black on the buds(not sure what it is or is it supposed to be that way) It has two Foo Lions on each side with gold rings in their mouths. This piece has many rust spots and one especially large one toward the bottom half. This beautiful antique Chinese porcelain jar and cover has very fine blue and white decoration applied. The main decoration is of a lake side setting with large pagodas. Houses, willow trees, mountains, people, and a bridge with stylised floral decoration to the top and lower band. The lid has a recumbent Dog of Fo with stylised decoration on either side. Please be aware that this is the correct original lid for this fine jar. The condition of the jar is perfect. Original and undamaged and it carries a four character Kangxi mark in under-glaze blue on the base, but I believe it dates from the 19th century. The lid however has an area of restoration around the rim. The height is 21 cm. The width across the shoulders is 8.5 cm, the diameter of the base is 6.5 cm and the opening at the top is 3.5 cm.
