Up for sale we have a Japanese WW2 veteran bring back sword that has been sitting in a basement for years. I like this one. But have too many and this one is rare to find. This blade is a star stamped gendaito sword that was made by Masatsugu, but signed Hizen Kuni Masatsugu a hard to find signature of his signed this way. I do not think the handle was ever removed until today and has a tight burlap wrapped handle with match numbers of 108 on all fittings. Does have some condition issues that can be fixed with restoration or left as is. Please look at pictures before bidding and ask questions. Authentic Japanese Sword wakizashi signed Hizen Tadayoshi
I have here for sale a real deal antique Japanese authentic sword that is over 350 years old. It is a Hizen school blade signed and dated Mutso no Kami Tadayoshi. Unfortunately I can't read the date. I just recently purchased this blade from an esate sale and there for has never been submited for papers or has been shown around for that matter. The Hizen school was one of the most promenet makers in the 1600 and there blades are 2nd to none when it comes to there refinement of both the steel and there hamons(temper) The blade has some scratches and very light finger rust stains but evrything is very visible. The jigane is a ko- mokume hada or konuka hada that is typical of Hizen hada and has fine chikei that can be seen in its current polish. Although the blade would benefit greatly from a full polish to appreciate the jigane and temper ... moreit will paper in its current condition. The hamon is typical Hizen suguha in ko-nie deki that is bright and has a slightly thick niogushi and the boshi is ko-maru with a small return. The blade measures 52 cm long and is.635 mm thick. The back widest part of the blade is 3.1 cm and the blade has a nice curvature of about 1/2" over all lenght is 68.5 cm. This blade is free of any defects or kizus so it is a very well made sword. The blade comes with a wooden shirasaya and a 2 piece silver foil habaki. I don't give any gurantees of the signature to be legitimate or false. I really don't know. That has to be left to the experts at the NBTHK or NTHK to pass judgment. I will say the blade looks Hizento to me but I'm not an expert on this. I do offer a 2 day inspection on the blade and can be returned for a full refund minus shipping. Good luck to all

Company Grade 1886 Pattern Type 19 Army Kyu-gunto VERY GOOD CONDITION The army-issued blade is 29 7/8 inches in length(from tip to guard) and has a hi groove running along each side. The blade appears to have a thin straight hamon. There is some rust. Scratches, and surface blemishes. There are no nicks in the cutting edge. The tang is unsigned. The hilt is 8 3/8 inches long with a pierced. Openwork floral design handguard. There may be the slightest bend or indentation to the D-guard. There is some discoloration to the guard and a dark mark on the pommel. White same(ray skin) Some of the wire binding has become loose and one wrap is missing. The mekugi(peg) is broken. It is sufficient to hold the blade in place if the sword is only minimally handled. But it should be replaced. Plated steel scabbard(31 1/2 inches) Some rust. Old Kozuka Handle for Japanese Samurai Sword, Squid Motif, Shakudo, Gold
The kozuka is the little auxiliary knife that fits into the scabbard(saya) of the Japanese Samurai sword. This is a genuinely old kozuka handle and not a copy or reproduction. When I initially listed this item I described this item as being made of iron. Someone was kind enough to write and suggest that I test it with a magnet. It is NOT magnetic. Which means that the black finish can only be Shakudo. Shakudo is an alloy of copper and gold which is used on some very high quality Japanese sword fittings and which patinates into a very rich black finish. The motif is a squid. Which seems to have a kind of silverish wash. Note the stripe on the back of the handle. This must be gold because it is nice and bright and I haven't touched this item in 20 years. Not signed. No blade, this is only the handle. But I understand that replacement blades ... moreare readily available, if one were inclined to add one. Please see photos. Hi. Here is a rare opportunity to own a spectacular and very deadly katana forged by the Mino Mastersmith Izumi no kami Kanesada. He was also refererred to as"no-sada" because of the way he signed the last character in his name. This large thick koto period(1469) katana is forged in his bizen style and the hamon looks like the ichimonji school with massive activities as well as typical moni-den shirake utsuri throughout the blade.The blade is signed clearly and the patina looks like juyo quality. The cutting length is 27&1/2" tip to notch. The thickness isa solid 5/16" or more with a diamond shaped cross section. The width is 1&1/4" at habakimoto and 7/8" at yokote. The niku is very healthy and full. The temperline is nioi-deki with brilliant nie crystals placed throughout and is in a tall active choji ... morewith jizo mixed in. The jihada pattern is extremely dense.Detailed mokume/itame with massive hataraki and of course masame hada in the shinogiji. Nosada is one of 14 smiths in Japanese history to be rated as"saijo-O-wazamono" for supernatural cutting ability and you can feel it in the martial prowess of this blade in hand. Truly feels like it could cut another sword in half with it. The blade comes with good mounts. Perfect magnolia saya with horn kojiri,koiguchi and kurikata. No damage. tsuka Fits tightly with edo period fushi and menuki(the dragon kashira is a good quality replica in black iron. The huge iron tsuba is a massive war-fan motif and very high quality. It measures 3&1/4" by 3&3/4" This is an incredible sword. There are some small grain openings(masame) in the shinogiji as usual and some fine little openings on one side of the blade. Otherwise it's never been bent or abused and has no ripples,blisters,cracks or other flaws. Ask questions before bidding since the sale is final unless the item is not as described. Just found this one great historic piece in my Uncles Home Museum Colllection. Well Cared for under Glass Cabinet care for over 50 Years. The brass has an incredible patina and color. The grip is wound nicely with and is in excellent vintage condition. The reease button for the scabbard is fully functioning and releases correctly with no malfuctions. I believe I captured the nice confition of the bade, and like my Uncles other swords and daggers there is no restoration that has taken place. The original scabbard show pitting at tip but has not affeccted the sword at all. Hi. Here for sale is a traditionally forged TAMAHAGANE steel Japanese sword that is either Meiji period or showa period. It has a signature but no military arsenal stamps of any kind. The blade itself is very sharp and beefy with an excellent bizen style curvature giving it and absolutely floating balance in hand from cut to cut. It is a wide beefy heavy blade but it floats like nothing during kata and therefore being very sharp as well I suggest this sword be used as a professional grade iaito(cutting practice sword)The overall mounted length is 36" The cutting edge(nagasa) from tip to notch is 24" and the width is 1&1/4" wide(beefy) The thickness at habaki is over 1/4" and the point has a flared armor piercing style tip(like u no kubi) The kissaki(point) is very large and wide with a crisp large boshi. It's length ... moreis 1.5" so it's really mean. The temperline is a peaked crisp midare with nie-deki and very wide and strong like the boshi. The grain pattern is ko-itame.The blade has a very clean medium grade cutting polish with no rust or damage. The blade has no flaws at all. No bends.Chips,cracks,blisters grain openings or other fatal flaws of any kind. It's perfect and deadly. Offered here today is a Fine RARE Japanese Army Officer’s Russo-War. Knuckle-Guard sword know as a KYU GUNTO. Kyugunto were some of the first types of military-pattern swords developed by the Japanese for their armed forces. The kyu gunto is the Epitome of Eastern and Western design and thought brought together in one weapon. The Japanese dearly and deeply revere and appreciate the blade. This is especially true of their own particular blades known as“Samurai Swords” in the West. In the kyugunto we see the marriage of the long“samurai” katana” blade with the European knuckle-guard. The Japanese military of the late 19 th and early 20 th century was based on the Prussian Army. The Japanese adopted western uniforms for their troops. The traditional Japanese sword was worn thrust through the belt or girdle which was NOT an option on European ... moreuniforms. Through the standardization of the uniforms on a European model in Japan. The kyugunto came into being. The blade of the samurai“katana” was retained and dressed in a European fashion with a knuckle-guard and steel scabbard that hung suspended from a belt. It must be noted, the Japanese fondness for fencing and martial arts of the sword led to some kyugunto having great long hilts. This is because the Japanese style of fencing requires a double handed grip. European fencing was unilaterally single-handed. The kyugunto offered here today is unusual as it has red same(stingray skin) for the handle. This is not very often seen as they are almost always white and rarely black. Our example has a hilt that is 6 ¾ inches long. This would probably not serve too well for a Westerner to use as a two-handed sword. But a Japanese from 100 years ago would probably not have had an issue using this sword with two hands. The blade is 26 1/16 inches long. Tsuba/scabbard is wood, has cracks(as can be seen in picture) but is solid and mounts well. Handle is slightly loose, wrap appears to be pretty decent, I've seen them alot worse. Star Stamped Gendaito WW II Japanese Army Officer's Sword
Star stamped Gendaito army officer's blade with a beautiful Sude Rabe type hamon(temper pattern) It is 24 7/8 inches from Habaki to tip with an overall length of 33 inches. The date is March 1945 Sho-Wa-Ni-Ju-Nen-San-Gatsu. The smith is Takajima Kuni Hide. The signature on the blade is Haru-Ni-Tsugu-Kuni-Hide-Saku. He is a Rikugun-Jumei-Tosho swordsmith, which means it was made by traditional hand folding methods using government-issued ore. It is in excellent polish. But has a small chip under the Habaki. The tang has a number 16 stamped on the end, and 2 Japanese characters on the edge near the Habaki. The handle shows some wear, and has high nodules in the Same. The Tsuba is thick and pierced with numbers that do not match but are functional. The locking mechanism does not work. For sale here is a beautiful. Signed WWII genuine Gendaito katana in officer's mounts. The blade has some light scratches and a small carbon pocket(as seen in one of the pictures) but is without any bends, cracks, pits, or chips. This is a thick blade in overall beautiful condition with a nice wavy temper line throughout on both sides, extending deep into the point. This blade is in original, untouched period polish and still shimmers in the light. It is very sharp and is signed Kiku Ichi Monju. There are no arsenal stamps of any kind. The handle and all fittings are in excellent, near new condition and is very tight and still rather fresh. While the wooden scabbard and leather combat cover clearly have some wear, the scabbard remains serviceable and the blade fits well into it. This is a Japanese sword wakizashi in mountings. The blade is signed"Kanetsugu 包次. Shinogizukuri shape. Muromachi period ca.1500 era made Yamato school blade. The blade is in old full polish, no rust, no scratch and in good condition. The temper line is wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep kaen(fire flame) temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, shows minor fukure near the habaki(see#8 photo) but no opening. The scabbard is urushi lacquered scabbard. No lacquer loss, no dent, no crack and in good condition. The handle is tight fit with copper fuchi, iron kashira and copper menuki. The tsuba is marugata shape copper tsuba with nice patina. The temper line is deep wavy gunome temper pattern throughout the blade and has deep turn-back temper at the point. The forging grain is itame-hada, no forging flaw. The habaki is gold foiled copper habaki. Shows aged wear but tight fit. It is not much polish down since it was made and in very healthy condition. The blade is mounted in old ho-wood shirasaya mountings. No dent, no crack and in excellent condition.
