NICE JAPANESE POLICE SWORD LIEUTENANT LEVEL
This is a good example of a Japanese Police Lieutenant Level Sword which dates from the World War II Era. It is mounted with a machine made blade that measures 29 inches in length. The blade reflects wear with flaking to the plating and surface oxidation nevertheless does remain in good condition. The beautiful brass guard wears the Police emblem(16-Ray Badge) on the backstrap near the pommel as well as very nice. Intricately detailed leafy designs with cherry blossoms. The lovely hilt is nicely fishskin wrapped and remains very healthy and tightly in place. The plated metal scabbard also has a little flaking but does remain in very nice serviceable condition as well. Rare Maker:Original WW2 Japanese NCO Samari Sword with Bonzi Flag
Guaranteed Original WW2 NCO type 95 sword with pierced tsuba. According to Jim Dawson's Book page 185"Swords of Imperial Japan" the swords maker is Gifu. The arsenal inspection stamp is Nagoya(also confirmed by the blades serial# being read by the swords sharp edge up. The arsenal I.D. Stamp is Kokura. This sword has been in my personal collection for many years. It was purchased from a vet along with the bonzi flag.The scabbard has always had a gilded finish as opposed to the army paint. There are no dents anywhere on the scabbard. The blade does not have the shin as some do but has a very sharp original edge. There are no signs of post war sharping. Bid with confidence. All Jinsen examples have serial numbers in the 300,000 range with the“3” being an over stamp, every one! The serial number on this sword is 300871(4th photo) If you do not have a Jinsen Arsenal Wood Handled Variation#2 in your collection, your NCO collection IS NOT complete! I can't speak for other collectors, but I run across one only every 4 or 5 years. GUARANTEED to be ORIGINAL WWII vintage. CONDITION: VERY GOOD PLUS. These swords were produced with lightening speed in an emergency situation. And they were crude when new. That said, the blackened iron fittings on the sword and the blackened iron fittings on the scabbard retain over 95% of their original finish, and the wooden scabbard body retains over 95% if its original OD paint with scrapes in the lower scabbard as shown in the photographs. There is a spot of masking tape residue, also shown in the photos. The scabbard lock and spring are in perfect condition, and the sword licks into the scabbard with a satisfying click. Description You are looking at a beautiful Japanese katana sword that was captured during WW2 by an American soldier. We have two of these fine blades up for sale this week. Both going at no reserve! These are must have items for the WW2 buff. This one we are designating number 2. There is another katana for sale this week as well. With staggered end times. We will combine shipping. We also have a pair of Japanese bayonets up this week as well. Condition Report The katana has tarnishing and wear to the blade. It is not perfect but in good overall shape considering it was not maintained in the years following the war. It is Japanese Edo era. This is old original. It is never imitation. The classification of this is a middle sword WAKIZASHI. An authorized book of association of Japanese sword conservation is attached to this. This does not have a signature. But the association judges it like this. This is the WAKIZASHI which a famous swordsmith Masayuki Takada made. This is a real old serious Japanese sword which the swordsmith made. The surface has a little wounds. And the back has wounds. Japanese Kyu-gunto Sword Purchased From Estate Of WWII Veteran Dirk Swart. We aren't certain if it is a Navy or Parade Sword. The following description was taken from the reference book titled"Swords of Imperial Japan 1868-1945" by Jim Dawson. On October 20. Meiji 16(1883) a new sword pattern was authorized for Navy Officers from ensign to captain. Kyu-gunto sword guards display two cherry blossoms with either nine or eleven leaves. All Kyu-gunto have folding reverse guards. The backstrap and each scabbard fitting display one cherry blossom in a floral design. The scabbards are black leather or black sharkskin" He goes on to say"Parade swords, which are essentially copies of the Kyu-gunto, were also produced. Their production apparently continued even after the new Navy sword, the Kai-gunto, was introduced in the 1930's. ... moreThe sword has a plated 26" blade that has not been cleaned or resharpened. Spots of pitting and plate lifting exist. Mostly near the handguard. The"D" style guard is brass with one cherry blossom in a floral design on the back strap, two on the guard, one on the pommel, one on the"D" guard, two on the throat band and one leaf on each side of the knot hole. The grip is white rayskin or sharkskin with nine grooves with wire(top one is broken) The scabbard is black leather with brass fittings and two brass rings. The scabbard and fittings are in excellent condition with only the usual stress and age cracks. The sword and other Japanese items were recently purchased from the Estate of P.F.C. Dirk Swart who served in the Pacific during WWII with the 128th Infantry, 32nd Division. The sword has not been cleaned to preserve its integrity. Please note photo taken of the sword with the box that the sword and other items were shipped in for proof of purchase. The box and other items have been sold on Ebay recently as different auctions. This sword has very superb fittings. The Kashira(the handle end cap) is of metal construction in a black and gold design. here i have from my personal collection a very special sword. it was in the previous owners hands for 30 years. this is a very nice Daito(long sword)Measurement from kissaki to machi is aprox.25 inches well over 2 shaku.shin gunto mountings are original and very ornate. Nakago mei(signature on tang) reads yoshishige is 100% authentic and guarenteed. very clear nice Yasurime(file marks) on Nakago. no chips,cracks, breaks ect. in sword or blade. there is a ring and surrender tag attached that is original to sword, ive made no attempt at translation as its out of my translation experience. this is a top notch example and fully complete in original excent condition. insurance is an added $2.00 for every hundred if wanted please specify. good luck

Note: This auction also includes and undamaged black lacquer saya for display in addition to the damaged saya that was taken with this blade in New Guinea. Offering a Japanese Officer's Wakizashi captured in New Guinea by Corporal Anton Heier a member of the U.S. Army 123rd Infantry. A component of the 33rd Division. There is a testimonial written by his son regarding the circumstances surrounding the capture of this weapon. Corporal Anton Heier saw action in New Guinea as well being in the force to liberate Luzon and island hopping towards Japan. There is an excerpt from the testimonial following information about the Wakizashi. The Wakizashi is possibly Meiji period and either a copy of Muromachi, Yamashiro or Soshu school. It is signed on the tang, possibly Kin Michi. Details: Nagasa 15 3/16, Sori 1/4 inch, Hamon waves. It has a Gold ... moreito and wrapped 6 1/4 inch tuska(overall length 22 inches) copper habaki and signed fuchi(Samurai in a boat on waves, Rain Dragon Koshirae, Bronze tsuba with decoration, and matched flower menuki. Vintage Chinese Or Japanese Bone Scrimshaw Sword And Dagger Set NR
Up for auction is a pair of Vintage Chinese Or Japanese Ox Bone Scrimshaw Sword And Dagger Set. Scrimshaw have depictions of different asian figures wearing a variety of period clothing. There are small fissures in the bone some appear to have been filled or repaired. However they are in good shape for their age, the sword is 23 1/2 Inches, the dagger is about 12 Inches. Antique Japanese sword tanto in black lacquered scabbard
A nice Antique Japanese tanto black lacquered mounted piece with a hand forged short blade of 15.6cm.Unsigned. The temper starts with a pointed irregular and then goes some what straight. It is full of all kinds of activity of legs hanging down. there is a very nice laminations that show up really well. Even though a small dagger it is a good study and learning piece of inexpensive price. the rust on the tang suggest it to be made well before pre war and maybe meiji era. I wonder if this could be a pilots. Kamikaze dagger. The black lacquered mounts look from the same period as the blade and the habaki is well made and gold plated. some small nics and dings to lacquer. look at pictures. mekugi screws together.This whole piece is a good quality made piece. Antique Japanese sword Nio signd tanto in presention box shirasaya Koshirae Koto
This is a nice tanto in its own kiriwood presentation box. The tanto is signed NiO. The sword smiths that used this signature were from the Yamaguchi Ken in Southern Honshu. They worked in Suo part of the prefecture. The name Nio came from the temple guardians Ni and O that stand in front of temples to protect them. The founder of this school from this area was Kiyotsuna and has been known forever as Nio Kiyotsuna. According to the Nihon To Meikan the name of Nio has been used since 1326 and two smiths during the late Muromachi period about 1504 and 1532 signed with the kanji Nio. This tanto is from that period of time. Sword smiths from Suo used this Kiyo kanji in their names. In checking the smiths that used Kiyo and also Ni o in their names I found 114 swordsmiths listed. because Ni O seems to be a generic name it could have been used ... moreby anyone of the smiths. This work is from the late Koto period. This tanto comes with a set of mounts and the blade is in a shirasaya( wood storage case) it has a mitsu mune and is a blade with laminations that shows up as masame in the upper portion with itame below. The temper is a very nice billowing temper full of activity. Strings of lines of temper go in and out of the line of temper. The habaki is a heavy solid silver piece. it is in an older shirasaya. The mounts are a nice thinner one with saya in an old ishime lacquer. The metal fittings are of silver and the handle same' is black lacqueres. The cutting edge is 21.9 cm long. there is hardly any curvature on the blade. In the bottom of the box is an old Japanese registration. A nice package. koshirae has a bag and shirasaya has a purple bag. kiriwood box has small inserts cut to hold the pieces. Antique Japanese sword tanto Higo fuchi kashira...tsuka, tsuba, koshirae, menuki
A nice iron tanto Higo fuchi kashira decorated with gold nunome cherry blossoms with some silver tendrils. The iron has good color and texture. The fuchi measures 34mm. Condition is very good and is probably of the mid Edo period(1700's) The accompanying kashira is of a rare cat's back shape unique to Higo and has slight remains of gold nunome on the raised base boarder. A very good iron Higo fuchi kashira decorated with fine gold nunome pine saplings. The color of the iron is a very nice purple black. The taikogata shaped fuchi is a good larger size measuring 38.5mm. It has a recessed copper tenjogane base which is a typical Higo trait. The surfaces show yakite-kusarashi or intended corrosion spots to create surface texture. condition is very good and probably of the mid Edo period(1700's) The accompanying kashira is of a rare cat's back shape unique to Higo without any decoration. For auction is this authentic massive Japanese hira zukuri Ko Wakizashi or O Tanto from the Shinshinto period. The 1780-1850's blade is in minty japanese polish. No damage or flaw to mention at all, nice clean blade. It is in deed an unusualy robust. Wide and powerful blade, a machete of japanese style. I only handled a couple of these as they are not the typical one. A real slayer. It is said that it could be made by Kiyomara or his followers as it is his distinctive style. Authentic antique Shinto period Japanese Wakizashi sword in koshirae. The 17th century blade has a nicely curved slender shape. Sharp good old japanese polish with very minor light residue, one very tiny and thin battle nick and one area of lose layer on the surface(as shown on picture) apart from it a good strong long wakizashi blade with healthy slightly bumpy hamon temperline and visible good grain patter. The tip is healthy and not reshaped, nice sharp looking with nice strong high boshi. The tang is unaltered. Unshortened in original state with nice patination, it is signed: 神田住兼常 Kanda Ju Kanetsune He worked in the second half of the 17th century in Musashi province. Antique 14th Century Koto Samurai Sword Japanese Tanto in Aikuchi Koshirae
For auction is this hard to find authentic Japanese Kamakura period Aikuchi tanto. The blade is from the first half of the 14th century. It has uchi zori shape, the tip is not curved in a slashing shape but is curved inward the edge, it is also called armor piercing tanto as it is not for slashing but to pierce the surface, and the inward curved tip is less likely to slip like the curved ones. This type is typical to the Kamakura period and is much rarer than other shaped tanto blades. The very sharp polish is good quality japanese polish with no rust, pitting,scratch or nick, very nice surface with great grain pattern and nice strong temperline, healthy sharp looking tip with good healthy boshi. Since it is a very old blade and was went through a lot of use it has numerous polishes that grounded down the surface and has very minor lose grain ... morepattern on the surface, this is typical with very old blades and the condition is still very good, still a strong thick blade with no forging flaws or bad wear, a very pleasing tanto. The tang in unaltered. Unshortened with original hole and deep patination, it seems it has a signature but hard to see(pictured the kanji fragments) due to heavy patination built up. The aikuchi Edo koshirae is in fine professionaly restored condition with finely covered and lacquered smooth rayskin. No damage to mention, good old habaki, tsuka has also full rayskin cover from single piece, polished horn fittings throughout the koshirae, good matching menukies. The tanto comes with copy of japanese registration card also.
