This listing is for a very elegant vintage ivory silk sheet that has two bands of beige lace running top to bottom on the sheet. A recent estate purchase I have not laundered the sheet and there are some condition issues with the piece. I have take many photos of all of the issues. A stain, tiny holes in the lace, a hole in the center fold of the sheet, and loose threads on the scalloped edging of the sheet. The piece if very elegant, measures 88" wide and 77" in length. The lace if very elegant, perhaps from Belgium. The scalloped edging runs all along the side edges. Both top and bottom edges are plain hems. Please ask questions, this is a no return item. This auction is for an Edwardian(1911) wedding skirt- quite unique and hand made for a titled lady- ivory satin with Honiton lace broad border at the hemline- long length and with a hoop to lift clear of the ground. As you can see from the many pictures the fabric(silk) underneath is fragile and is deteriorating although the fabric of the skirt and the lace is intact and although marked is not damaged. It is very tiny but would look lovely displayed and be of interest to a student of fashion or a Museum. I have listed two bodices which came with this garment- please also note that it would require Specialist cleaning. We are pleased to offer this beautiful. Mid Century, WOOD(not the plastic variety) Italian Florentine table. This lovely table features a color palette of gold and creamy ivory. The table features a"pineapple" theme with a textured pineapple as the column and pineapple cuts in the gold sections of the table top's pie crust border. There are also small pineapples integrated in the ornate gold scrolls on the table top with four pineapples composing the center medallion feature. The curved, triangular base sits on 3 small rounded feet. This is a very beautifully designed table. The woman’s right knee has broken off. There is some damage to the drum skin due to rats. There are some cracks due to age. Tips of both feet have broken off and have beet refinished. A few scratches though out the piece due to use over the years. The drum stands about 41 in. high and at its largest about 15 in across. The body of the drum has carvings of a lizard. A snake, two birds, a long nicked turtle, and several things that might be the senufo bird. The long necked turtle and the lizard can be seen on a drum by the same tribe. The animals on the drum are regarded as the ... morefirst animals on earth. The drum sits on top of a fat woman on a pedestal. She has sacrificial markings on her breasts and stomach. The drum head is fashioned from animal hide attached with rawhide. Stretched over protruding pegs. T he Senufo are known for their wood carving. A craft practiced by the males of the tribe. However, women are regarded as providing the strength and power of the tribe, thus the symbol of the woman supporting the drum, just as she supports the tribe. These ritual drums were used to summon spirits at special occasions, such as at funerals or at ceremonies initiating young men into adulthood. The Senufo are made up of a number of diverse subgroups who migrated into their current location from the north during the 15th and 16th centuries. Unlike their neighbors to the north they have remained relatively sheltered from intrusive cultures including the Songhai and Hausa. Although they have certainly borrowed knowledge from their neighbors. They have not had to fear constant attacks and social upheaval. 18th/19thC handcarved antique ivory box marble interior make do highest quality!
This treasured artifact is from the late 18th or very early 19th Century. Carved ivory exterior and marbled paper interior this box shows amazing amounts of craftsmanship of the highest caliber and then make-do repeats probably when it was 100 years old and inherited. Expert wooden replacements of the mirrored ivory originals on the large swags on the front and in a few other places. SO much charm here from the amazing repairs to the original craftsmanship in say. The ivory button you lift to open the box. The Victorian interior pasted on scraps are much later than this box which was likely handed down from generation to generation, as it will be in your family as it's the most glamorous jewelry box that ever was and would likely be coveted by anyone who saw it! Truly beautiful with shades of white. I'm not sure if it's ivory ... moreor bone but I feel it's the former not the latter. It's certainly predates any type of celluloid etc and it's not mother of pearl. It measures 9"X 5" and is 2" tall. Good luck finding something like this again you won't-this type of antique is not available anymore it's all in collections already. Oh to only know the original contents of this box! Nobody but the very wealthy would have had something of this caliber. This is pre 1900 by a long shot and is a wood box.The main part of this box sans the inlay is wood. I set them up for our wedding and not as many showed as confirmed so some are still in original condition.
