This is an imari ceramic lidded dish which dates to the late Meiji era(c. 1910) The outside is designed with hand painted pine tree in indigo blue around the bowl as well as a wave pattern on the bottom(see picture 9) This style bowl was commonly used for rice in the late Edo to mid Meiji Eras(c. 1910) It measures 4 5/8" across by 3 1/4" tall including lid(11.5 x 8.3 cm) Having been in storage most of its life. Both lid and bowl remain in excellent condition. You'll love it. This 5 Piece Place Setting is a beautiful set. It includes: Dinner Plate. Soup bowl, bread plate, cup and saucer. It is an Arita Imari Reproduction and as Photo#3 indicates they are Hand Decorated Arita Imari Reproductions and therefore no two pieces are exactly alike. They are the Peacock Pattern and though I have seen many Arita Imari Reproduction pieces and place settings, the peacock pattern does not show up very often. I would grade this set in Very Good to Good condition. This is a set that has seen some use. The Dinner Plate shows some fading of the gold trim around the rim. It is all there. But does show some wear in a couple of places- not enough to detract from the overall appearance of the set. The cup, also, shows some wear/discoloration of the gold trim around the rim of the cup as from being used. It is, however, all there. ... moreThe other three pieces do not show any significant wear or discoloration. This appears. To me, to be a place setting of Arita Imari China someone used and enjoyed. The pattern itself is intact, complete, bright and vivid. We purchased this place setting from an estate sale a couple of years ago. While it is collectible and worthy of display, this set was collected, used and enjoyed. We try to be totally honest with all items we offer and that is why I mention that there is some wear on a couple of these pieces. If you have questions. Antique plate measur ing about 9 3/4" This was a dinner plate but since it's just the one and ha s this odd sh ape to it we suggest y ou use it to serve cake or cookies or just as a shelf piece or to han g on the wall. The pattern is just pure Victorian and the colors of rust and yellow flowers with the cobalt and gold remind us of Imari and Gaudy Welsh pieces which are very collectible. The plate has very fin e crazing on both front and back which one expec ts to see with age. It's like human wrinkles for china. Porcelain Imari Gold Trimmed Bowl w/Lotus Flowers. Fruit, Swallows& Misc Designs 4-1/2” Diameter 2-1/2” Deep Beautiful lightly scalloped gold-trimmed edge Imari porcelain bowl. I wish I knew more about this bowl’s history but I’ll list all I can see about it. It measures 4-1/2 inches diameter across the top and is 2-1/2 inches deep. On the inside of the bowl are orange/red lotus style flowers with blue and gold leaves. As well as some kind of orange looking fruit coming out of the flower. Inside bottom also have a circle of what appears to be fork style symbols and matching flowers and fruit. Along the outside edge are two replicating images. One is of a green bird, what appears to be an elongated swallow with a reddish background and gold swirls. The second image is of some kind of orange fruit. Perhaps pomegranate or something similar, ... morewith green leaves surrounded and blue and gold background. Bottom of bowl has two blue rims painted around the entire bottom edge and there is a mark of some sort on the very bottom. It appears to be symbols of some sort. Bird/flower, I just don’t know. Original antique Imari porcelain bottle/vase Genroku Period Japan ca. 1700 You are bidding on a beautiful and exceptional Imari porcelain bottle in museums quality. This is an original antique piece from the Genroku Period(1688-1703) The bottle is made in a rare triple-gourd shape. It is beautifully decorated with chrysanthemum flowers. Japanese figures and dragons in the typical colors blue, red and gilt. The blue is painted underglaze and the red and gilt colors are overglaze. The porcelain underneath some of the blossoms is elevated. The bottle is made out of thick porcelain, which is typical for the early period of Imari objects. Compared to other Imari porcelain objects. The artist of this piece was very gifted. The overall design, details as well as the shape is outstanding. So far I have not found anything like this yet. There is a ... morepair of triple gourd bottles in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum in New York, but the online pictures are black and white and it is hard to tell, if those bottles are as beautiful as this one. In my opinion this is a rare opportunity for a collector or even a museum to gain such a wonderful example of old japanese Imari art. Provenance: The bottle comes from a private german collection of an elderly lady. Who bought this piece in Asia, decades ago. I am not a connoisseur. But I asked two experts, from London and Zurich, who both confirmed the authenticity of this piece. The old sign on the bottom. Which says: Old Imari procelain bottle. Genroku Period 1688-1703 A.D" is confirmed to be correct. there is no mark/sign underneath the old sticker) The bottle is 27.9 cm high(a little less than 11 in. and weights 930g(a little less than 2 pounds) The condition of this piece is excellent. KO-IMARI Middle Edo Period TEN PLACE SETTINGS
Each place setting consists of 5 plates and a lidded bowl. When stacked. They appear to resemble the Chrysanthemum. There are TEN complete settings(That's FIVE for the Collector. And FIVE for Gifting) All pieces exhibit slight variations. Indicative that they are created/decorated by hand. The Karakusa pattern on the reverse, the han, the slight variations of the hans and pattern style indicate 18th/19th century. The han itself dates these pieces c.1780-1820. In older Imari patterns you will see"Sho Chiku Bai" The Three Friends of Winter. Pine. Bamboo and Plum in a circular pattern in the center of the plate. This is a beautiful old antique tea bowl. I do not know if it is Chinese or Japanese. It has a slightly raised pattern in an ochre colour and then it has been hand painted in.I think it is a signature on the inside of the bowl. Photo 4.It looks like small characters and it is slightly raised too.Also on photo 4 you can see a faint hairline crack on the inside but it is not noticeable on the outside. It measures just over 3 and a half inches across the top and about 1 and threequarter inches high. Lovely old item. These include a mystical Dragon surfacing from the crashing waves beneath, with streams of cloud surrounding. The front-top half of the figure is simply covered in a jade green with bands of brown and gilt running across. He is also masked with a type of bandana. Which would also be part of his character in the theatre performance. His eyes and hair are also painted on with the most meticulous attention paid to detail of each single eyebrow strand of hair. This auction is for a Lovely Antique Gaudy Welsh Saucer or Bowl. It is designed in the classic Gaudy Oyster Floral Vine Pattern with hand painted and rich Imari colors of Cobalt Blue. Iron Red and Peach with Copper Luster. It dates to the mid to late 1800s and is in very good condition. Especially for that age. There are no chips or cracks or repairs and the colors and images are vivid and bright. There is fine. Even crazing as expected from pieces of this vintage. There are no makers marks but there is what appears to be a hand written number on the back. Perhaps 15. It measures about 5 3/4 inches across and 1 inch tall.
