Pair 2 Antique Wood & Sons Imari Luncheon Plates Verona Border Pattern Gold Gilt
Here is a pair of beautiful Imari-style luncheon plates. Made circa 1907-1910 by Wood& Sons of England. These plates feature a gentle scalloped rim with light crimping on the edges, that give the look of an outer necklace of oblong gold beading. The shelf border has a vibrantly colored decoration of hand enameled four red-orange flowers interspersed with baby blue smaller florals, green leaves on geometric rust-brown fields. Pale blue enamel scrolls and brilliant gold gilt provide finish accents. These are outstanding plates for a wonderfully dressed table! We begin with a total of 8 plates. Measurements in inches: 7 7/8 Condition: Very light use marks. The plate with 2 blue triangles identifies crazing lines. One triangle on the back shows an area that looks like a hairline. A nail run across this does not catch as it will for a true ... morehairline. But does catch tiny bubbles in glaze. Same plate has an incomplete glaze area at rim approx 3/8" x 3/8" One plate has a tiny"bite" on back of rim(seen in last photo) Not seen from front. Several show what appears to be a partial 1.25" seam on the center back, all in the same place, which to me rules out hairlines(too coincidental) and points to manufacture process. This modern Imari hexagonal jar(6" in diameter and over 6" high) or bowl has a fitted lid. The top of the lid is colored in gold. The side panels are three. Repeating designs. There is a Japanese inscription on the bottom. The two red characters on the right are Bijutsu which means"beautiful artwork" and is probably a brand name. The three black vertical characters read“IMARI” Modern” and“Late 20th century” The decoration is in traditional"Imari" style. For your consideration is this vintage set of 4 porcelain sushi/sashimi dishes with separate well for soy. Ginger or wasabi. They measure 6 3/4" by 5 3/4" and stand 1 1/8" tall. They are stackable for storage. The dishes are in the classic Imari colors, cinnamon, blue, green and gold, with a white interior and bottom, and brown around the rims. They have a Japanese character on the back and a label that says Made in Japan on each one. They are in excellent, mint condition with no wear.

~ Gold Imari Ginger Jar ~ This listing is for a large gold imari ginger jar. It is approximately 14" tall with the lid. 12" tall without the lid, 6-3/4" bottom diameter, and 10-1/4" in diameter at the widest point. The top opening is 3-3/4" The jar is in very nice condition. It is in very good condition with the exception of the lid(see below and photos 7-9) with no cracks or crazing(though could use washing) Two large white panels with orange/rust color flowers and leaves with aqua. Blue and yellow accents. These 2 panels are framed in black, and on the black are cobalt blue, aqua, yellow, and shiny gold leaves and vines. The bottom edge has a 1-1/2" wide pink band with lotus flower blossoms and leaves. The top has 4 leaves- 2 are shiny gold and 2 are cobalt blue. And a 1" round knob. There are 3 spots ... morewhere the glaze has chipped off, and it appears someone colored to flaws with black in(see photos 7- 9) Otherwise the top is in excellent condition. The plain white bottom has lots of little green felt pads to protect furniture surfaces. In black marker is written"VN 1047.
