Antique Brass, Steel and Marble Table with a Griffin / Ram Design
This is a wonderful antique table made from steel with brass accents and a black marble top. The brass accents include three griffin or ram heads each holding a brass ring. Three paw feet and a center brass support ring. It measures 38 1/2" tall and 18" in diameter. Due to the height of the piece, we believe it was designed as either a plant stand or a plinth for a sculpture. The table is in excellent condition, but the marble top has some marks on the top. Some of the marks look like old water marks and some look like scratches. The table can be picked up from our shop or we can arrange delivery within 100 miles of Philadelphia. What I am sure about is that this is an exceptionally nice detailed Victorian Antique piece. It currently has and electrical socket. Socket is loose, there is no cord, you are buying this non-working. I am not sure if this is the original shade that came with it. But it fits in the fitting collar just perfect, and it was with the lamp when I obtained it out of an old estate, from a party who did interior demolitions years and years ago. Including some famous local Twin Cities' businesses. He was buying and scrapping metal from homes and businesses, before they were torn down, but he saved the very best things he had picked up over the years from these places. Brass Fixture is 29” tall from bottom flange to top of shade. Griffin ... moreis 6 ¼” wide measuring from tail to nose and 8” tall. Brass Fretwork Metal Globe is 4 ¾” in diameter. Shows Cherubs on both sides. There are what looks like it a couple of minor dents on flat portions between the fretwork design, but tit might have been made that way at the factory, I am no lamp expert, just trying to accurately describe what I see. This was polished along time ago and has some white polish residue. Bottom flange is 4 3/8” in diameter. 2 of the collar set screws to hold shade in are missing. Very easy to replace. Heavy thick walled satin white shade with thick raised designs. The background must have been acid cut and then frosted leaving a raised design. Shade is 7 ¾” from collar to top point. Collar is 3 ½” in diameter. Shade weighs about 2 pounds. No chips. Cracks, or dings, has some minor rub marks. It has a glass straw mark on the nipple of the shade, it is not a crack, does not go through. Shade is 6” at the widest. A simply fabulous piece of Victorian Era Turn of the Century Lighting. It measures 5.5" wide x 8.35" high. 36 pages, FULL COLOR! This was the first underground comic published in full color! ADULTS ONLY! This copy is in excellent condition. Paper is still supple and the colors are rich and vibrant. Book lies completely flat and there are no rips, tears, cut-outs or missing pages. The cover has a 1/4" split at the bottom of the spine though. Absolutely no rust on the staples. MOSCOSO is famous for the incredible psychedelic music posters he produced in San Francisco in the late 60's- early 70's. As well as his amazing comic artwork in ZAP COMIX. Victor Moscoso's Color is a psychedelic trip of funny. Violent, and sexually explicit ... moreartwork. The whole experience begins within the cover itself, where a spaceship orbits another planet. The spaceship turns into a fish, and the fish swims in a fish tank. The fish tank sits on a table in a living room, where a couple are shooting the breeze on a couch. The couch turns into some sort of bad guy, who proceeds to beat the living hell out of the couple. From there, the strip descends into a wave of violence as the man attempts to deal with the intruder. Born in Spain. Moscoso was the first of the rock poster artists of the 1960s era with formal academic training and experience. After studying art at Cooper Union in New York City and at Yale University. He moved to San Francisco in 1959. There. He attended the San Francisco Art Institute. Where he eventually became an instructor. WW2 Griffin & Howe M1C scope mount
Severla of you have been asking me to list an M1C mount. So here it is. It still retains it's original blued finish. Many of the mounts you come across these days have been refinished as it was just part of the maintenance cycle of the M1C sniper rifles. The rings are 7/8" and will accomidate a variety of military optics. They will fit the M73, M81, M82 and Lyman Alaskan. I have scopes listed in other auctions if you are interested in a package deal. Shipping is a bit more as I include insurance on pieces like this. The Post Office hasn't let me down yet, but I don't want it to start with your scope mount! Good luck
