I will try and give you the best description I can, no matter how minor it may be. I am not a dealer and have purchase these lamps at a estate sale. They are a rare find made of teak wood with a narrow brass trim and glass globe with gold leaf sunburst design. They have been tested and both work, cords are in great condition too. Shades are good no tears or rips one has a spot that needs to be clean, shade color one is beige the other white with dark brown trim. The bottom of lamp base have a green felt that show its age as shown in pictures. Due to age you will find the gold trim sunburst design on glass globe shows some lighter gold here and there, other than that ... moreI can't find anything else with these oldies but goodies, They look fabulous for their age, and have a lot more years to go and will look great in their new home. This is an auction for a vintage globe that accommodates a light bulb within at the bottom. I think a lower wattage would probably work better. This globe has some chips and a few dime sized areas missing but overall presents well. My guess is late 50's early 60's with the wire base being popular around then. Some areas are the golden type of tarnish and other areas are gray tarnish. There are a few light scratches. The details on the globe are not deeply defined. My Dad was a collector of railroad lanterns back in the 1960-70's(this was his) But I've seen this type lantern listed as a firemans. I'm not a collector, so I'm listing it as either one or both. I'll let the experts decide. It is marked by three manufacturers. I would say SANGSTERS made the lantern and THE BROOKLYN FLINT GLASS Co. made the globe that is in excellent condition. Also the wick wheel is marked E MILLER MERIDEN CON. I'm not sure if they made the burner and fountain. Or just the burner. Condition: Some typical dings or dents. One of the vertical cage wires is broken at the very top. Directly under the rivet type ... morehead. Looks like some vertical solder repair on the font. On top were the horizontal hinge pin for the handle ring is, there is a dent and some tearing in the brass. I believe all these things except the broken cage wire are in the pics. I gave you my best observations and hope it is accurate. We are selling the lantern as is, so please look at all 12 pictures. All questions will be promptly answered. Total height is 18" and the base is 6" in diameter. Outside diameter of the handle ring is 4 7/8" A very nice clean solid lantern. Not perfect. But I think it did rather good for being 150 years old. Plug shows age but still works and globe lights up. light switch is on bottom attached to what I think is called the base. This base has a long screw that goes through the globe to the top. IT IS LOOSE. I personally would not attempt to tighten it. wood base also shows age. Still very solid. There is a sleeve that hold an Atlas map hard cover book. Pages are slightly yellow. The globe tilts to get lattitude and longitude, has what looks like a very old copper finish on outer band, it is just old with original patina. This one is very solid and it slides back and forth very easily and spins easily also. I notice some of the countries are named a little different than they have been the last 30 years. PHILIPS 19 inch terrestrial globe. 1962. This is a large and impressive table globe from the British company Philips. Dated 1962. The globe is constructed from two hemispherical aluminium shells, joined at the equator, with 12 hand-applied paper gores. It is reinforced internally by a hardboard disc with steel rim at the equator and a wooden cylinder along the axis. The globe is mounted on a turned mahogany base with a heavy cantilevered aluminium bracket supporting the axis. The map retains good colour but shows some browning and craquelure due to degradation of the lacquer. Aluminium globe shells are quite soft and particularly susceptible to denting. This example has one dent off the south west coast of Africa and a smaller one west of the southern tip of South America- both are pictured. An original ruby red sleigh and scroll pattern glass oil lamp. With an Eagle burner and the original beaded red tip chimney. The ruby paint was applied to the glass.
