Vintage George Nelson Howard Miller Swag Leg Grandfather Clock. Good Vintage Condition; Some cosmetic flaws. Movement may need work. Here is a great looking vintage mid century modern grandfather clock. Very avante-garde design. The clock has several cosmetic issues, as follows. The dial has tarnishing and should be polished and has some smudges in the surface. The word"Howard" on the face looks to have been coming off and glued back on. There are two finials missing, and all of the existing finials are missing the balls that original adorned the tops. The pendulum has significant denting in the front of the circular portion. There is a scratch on the left side of the top of the clock. There are small areas that have adhesive residue on the metal where there was once some painter's tape on one of the legs. The felt has some ... morefingerprints impressed in it into the old foam backing. RE: the clock mechanism, it does not seem to be working properly. I hooked up the weights and pendulum and it will tick for a minute but stop after not too long. The chimes are working, although it chimed quite a few times when I started it(not on an hour) and it chimed seemingly more than 2x when I turned the hands to 2 o'clock. Overall it looks great in it's current state, but will need some work to make perfect. This auction is for the actual item(s) as pictured. I find all of my items at estate sales. Antique stores, and flea markets. I do not repair any items or do anything other than a light cleaning and dusting. All items are sold as-found. I will do my best to note any flaws. DESCRIPTION. Handsome and functional CSS two bay wall unit with desk designed by George Nelson and manufactured by Herman Miller. This versatile system measures 81" wide by 79" high when installed. It has beautiful walnut veneer on the cabinets and shelves. And a very pale gray formica desk top surface. This set includes: a 32" wide cabinet with two sliding doors a 48" wide cabinet with organizing shelves a 48" wide shelf with slots for bookend brackets 6 wire bookend brackets two 32" shelves 71" long by 29 1/2" wide by 29" high. Formica desk assembly with 2 drawer cabinet three 79" long black enameled poles three pole stabilizers all hardware for hanging shelves. Cabinets and desk Pictured with a Danish chair which has been sold. This listing is for the shelving system only. DIMENSIONS 81" ... morewide by 79" high when installed. CONDITION Good vintage condition. This does show signs of wear from use. The desk drawers open and close smoothly.There is no key for the locking mechanism, but the drawers are unlocked. The formica desk top is in excellent shape with only a couple of very tiny dings, but it does have small chips to the walnut veneer around the front and side edges. There is an ink stain to the front of the desk cabinet and some chips to the veneer on the drawers. The top of the organizing cabinet has several scratches and there are many tiny areas of bubbling to the veneer on the top of the sliding door cabinet. The previous owner cut the tops of the poles at a slight angle, the adjustable feet on the bottoms are all present. This is very structurally sound and sturdy, and the overall appearance presents very nicely. Please see all of the pictures below for more detail. Of note is a quarter sized chip in the lamination on the top left side and a 28 inch piece of the lower rear laminate is missing. Being sold as shown and as described. There are two drawers on the left side of the kneehole opening. One is 5 1/2 inches tall and the other is 12 3/4 inches; both are 13 inches wide. There is also a door which measures 11 3/4 inches in width and has an adjustable shelf inside. The kneehole opening is 24 3/4 inches in width. To the right of the kneehole opening is an area 11 inches in depth. On the far right side end is a door covering two shelves- it is 17 1/2 inches wide by 19 inches in height. With Barry Nelson, Arnold oboloff, Mark Goddard, Gayle Crofoot, Roger Mionami, Christopher Barrett, Claudia Asbury, Wayne Cilento, Carol Estey, Michael Leeds, Laurie Dawn Skinner, Albert Stephenson, and Brad Witsger. Music by John Kander, lyrics by Fred Ebb, and book by George Furth. Liza's buddy Halston did the duds. Cy Feuer and Ernest Martin put this package together. And were taken aback when Minnelli insisted that it be staged by her then-current vis-a-vis, Martin Scorsese. Minnelli was the muscle in this show, so despite his lack of theatrical experience, Scorsese was hired- with disastrous results. First off. I like this set of fireplace tools! Takes up just the right amount of space next to my fireplace, and the way they feel I my hands, exquisite! They are used as you hopefully can see in the pictures, this just adds to the ambiance of a classic mid century look. Not saying that you couldn't put these in a fancy uptown home, I just feel they are a bit to rustic for that. A Rare George Nelson Steere Watch fob/ chain. Signed on the back GNS and on the dog ear loop as well. What Palissy ware is to Majolica is what Mr. Steere brought to jewelry. Designs from nature as well as whimisical. Mythological creatures. He made jewelry for a short period between 1905-1911 making his pieces rare and sought after. This is beautiful Beaux Art/ Art Nouveau piece with a large faceted stone on the end. The center features a" dolphin" with a jeweled eye with flowers on the top and bottom. It measures just over 3 3/4" with a 5 3/4" side chain. The fob is in good condition with minor normal wear. nothing obnoxious. I believe it is gold plate as there is a small spot of wear on the center connecting loop area. I have not cleaned this item. Please see pictures for best description. George Nelson for Herman Miller 3 piece 2 Dressers and Vanity 1950's
Up for sale is a great 3 piece George Nelson designed for Herman Miller walnut veneered vanity and dressers. They are all 18 1/2" deep and 29 3/4" high. The smaller dresser is 34" wide and the longer one is 56 1/4" wide. The vanity is 30" wide. These pieces are over 60 years old and have a very nice patina. They have been gently cleaned. The cabinet cases have scratches and indentations. The center divider on the larger cabinet is cracked. The vanity is faded inside and the 24" fluorescent fixture needs to be replaced. It provides power but doesn't light the bulb. The back of the vanity has a split but it really doesn't affect anything. The vanity hangs between the two dressers and could be removed if you just wanted to use the dressers. It rests on the cabinet and hangs on 2 screws. Which were probably ... morereplaced. The larger dresser has 4 drawers and a 2 shelf cabinet the shelves with tapered ends. There is a foil tag in the smaller dresser with 4 drawers. This is an original Mid Century Modern bubble light fixture from the Howard Miller Clock Company. Zeeland, Michigan and has the label to prove it. This is the large size as described by Modernica, the authorized re-pro company. It is about 36" wide by 14" high and has the original cord but the plug has been removed. It is in excellent vintage condition with no holes or cracks or anything like that. The top of the fixture does show some wear to the aluminum( and the plastic has some dust/dirt but it is not much and can probably be easily cleaned by someone who knows what to do. VINTAGE HOWARD MILLER GEORGE NELSON WOOD BALL CLOCK
Vintage 12-spoke George Nelson Wood ball clock for Howard Miller. Designed in the 1950's by George Nelson. This is not a modern reproduction. I believe the Model is#4755. The clock is intact but is not in the greatest condition, although it has a great patina and character to it. The clock works as far as I can tell, I tested it for over an hour but is missing the second hand. The minute and hour hands are bent a little and some of the paint is chipped. The brass case is showing patina or light rust on top. The balls stay on but may not be as tight as originally fabricated There is no label on the back. The clock measures 18.5 inches from tip-to-tip, 4.5 inches across the face. Period-correct, 6 foot white cord. A mid-century design icon. For sale is one of the many iterations of the Executive Desk designed by George Nelson for Herman Miller. The desk is in two parts the bolt together. The lower side with open shelves at the corner and the other with two drawers. The long side measures 65" long, 29.5" deep, and 28" tall. The shorter side measures 5' long including the upper level and 35.5" long before it tucks under the top section. The smaller lower section is 18.5" deep and 25.5" tall. It is in overall very good condition but there are some faint stains, shallow scratches on the top, and a couple stray paint marks on the sides. On tour with the George Lewis band, Louis Nelson had a recording session in Japan which was published on GHB 25 and 26 as by Louis Nelson’s Big Four. The quartet had Louis on trombone, George Lewis on clarinet, Joe Robichaux on piano and Manny Sayles on banjo. It is from his 1963 Japan tour. Also pictured is the George Lewis Band members and local Japanese Jazz enthusiasts. This picture is from the Allan Jaffe Collection.
