Vintage King Pelletier Schmidt Model Double French Horn This Vintage King Pelletier Schmidt Model French Horn is in good condition for its age. The first and third rotary valves have been rebuilt and silver plated in the past and have decent compression. The second valve has below average compression. The leadpipe has a slight ding in it. However, it does not affect the playability of the instrument. A member of the Air Force Academy Band played this horn and loved it. If he had not just purchased a Vintage Conn Schmidt from me, he said this horn would have been his. He even tried to convince his dad to buy the horn, so he would have a chance to play it upon occasion. The horn plays well over 4+ octaves and has that sweet German sound. Also included is the newspaper article describing the awarding of this cord to the soldiers of the US 3rd Division while fighting in France. From the article: WITH THE 3D DIVISION. Feb. 27. General de Lattre de Tassigny, Commanding General of the 1st French Army, this week awarded the fourragere, coveted French cord of honor, to Major General John W. O'Daniel, commanding general of the 3d Division. The award was made at a colorful ceremony in recently liberated Colmar. A citation which Gen De Tassigny read on behalf of General de Gaulle, who personally ordered the decoration, praised the"splendid courage" of the division and particularly noted the significant role they played in cleaning up the Colmar pocket and liberating Lower Alsace from the Germans. This authentic French Medal/ Order of the Dragon of Annam to the rank of Commander, dating from the French Third Republic. This elegant achievement of the order is called"coat decoration" A simple commander star, it was meant to be pinned/ screwed to the long officer coat during official representations and commemorations. Dating from the middle of the 3rd Republic he was awarded to a French military officer during the First World War to the 1920s. In Gilt metal. Note the beautiful enamel achievement of the Cross, and its Dragon quality. In excellent condition. As you can see with the different pictures. The order was always kept in the same family. Original ribbon measure 1 1/2" wide. Order with its rigid ... morecrown measures 3 1/2" long by 2 3/8" wide. Dragon 1 5/8" wide. The set weighs 40.6 grams. The creation of this Order was proposed in 1884 by the Minister of Marine and Mr. Patenotre at the latter's departure for a mission in Hue in order to reward protectorate services rendered. The Order was finally established in Hue March 14. 1886 by Emperor Dong- Khanh, in agreement with the French government. The Order includes five classes: Grand Cross. Grand Officer, Commander, Officer, Knight. The ribbons are different depending on whether the order is given to civilians(green orange edges) or military(white to orange edges. This authentic French Medal/ Order of the NICHAN EL IFTIKAR to the rank of Commander, dating from the French Third Republic. This order of glory. Date from the period of the reign of Mohamed el Naceur(1906-1922) as shown by its signature. This is an antique blue& white Delft clock from the late 1800s. It measures 16 inches in height. The base is 8x4.5 inches, the face is 4 inches in diameter. The clock is in the shape of a fireplace mantle or hearth. It has brass French works but they need some type of work done to them because it is missing part of the hanger that the pendulum would sit on and the key hole on the left side just spins when you wind it, so it is non-working. The case is also not in perfect condition because it has a couple of age lines on the bottom, pictured and the finials on both andirons in the fireplace have been broken ... moreoff. Antique French green marble mantle clock bell strike running Rotterdam
Up for auction is an antique french green marble mantle clock currently running. Clock case has chips off front top corners(see pics) Clock movement is only marked with numbers 16098. Sculpture on top was missing. I placed this ceramic sculpture of Justice on top and it looked nice, but statue is grey and green marble is screaming for a nice gold piece. I did not remove or clean the movement. I had too fabricate an old Ansonia pendulum, and its running great. Pendulum is adjustable for regulating the time. Clock strikes with crisp bell on the half hour and on the full hour for the appropriate amount of hours. Clock has nice porcilan dial with very ornate brass hands. Dial is marked A.D. Overstrijd. Rotterdam. I will include the sculpture in the auction if winning bidder so desires. Clock base measures 6 inches tall, 6 inches deep at the feet, ... moreand 10 3/4 inches wide at the feet. Cast Iron French Miner's Lamp
This familiar cast iron miner’s light. More commonly found with a circular font(pictured above) supported by a heavy trunnion mound attached to a long hooked rod by means of a swivel joint, is embellished with a brass rooster. This wonderful Specialty Lamp is of French Origin and typically used whale oil for fuel. This miner’s lamp measures 7 ½ inches in height from the base to the top of the trunnion mount and 4 ½ inches wide. The iron hood measures 20 ½ inches from the top of the hook to the connection at the trunnnion. The chain on the wick pick is 14 inches in length attached to the trunnion mount with a closed“S” hook. The wick pick itself measures 4 ½ inches in length. The upper loop is ½ inches in diameter and the prongs have a 1 inch wide extension. This lamp is cast iron and brass. It is in excellent vintage condition but please be aware that there is a storage mark on the top of the fabric where it has been exposed. The inner levels of the fabric do not have storage marks. However. It will easily remove with laundering. It is just over 5 yards in length and 23½” wide. The side edges are selvedge’s and the top edges are cut. Antique French Mid C19th STERLING Silver (.950) Flared Beaker Timbale Cup Gilt
You are viewing a mid-nineteenth century French sterling silver(950 purity) beaker with a gold washed interior and flared hourglass shape. It is stamped with Minerva's head in an octagonal shield indicating a purity better than sterling. The maker's stamp is that of Pierre Hippolyte Fournerot. A Paris silversmith active between 1833 and 1857. The cup is intricately engraved with floral motifs and swags. The central cartouche has not been engraved with a monogram. It is approximately 3 1/4 inches or 8 cms in height and the rim is also approximately 3 1/4 in diameter. It weighs approximately 104.6 grams or 3.36 troy ounces. The condition is pretty good with two shallow depressions on the body; minor scratching and wear throughout especially on the bottom of the interior of the goblet. Here at auction is a very old package of PRAT- DUMAS FRENCH FILTERING PAPERS STANDARD OF THE PHARMACEUTICAL WORLD. MADE IN FRANCE E. Fougera and Co. Inc. New York Distributors for the United States. One Package 100 SHEETS box is 13 1/2" x 6 3/4"x 1 1/2" box is old and has crease marks. Torn places but is all there. There are 53 sheets( if I counted correctly) of the folded French Filtering Papers still inside. The papers are 12 3/4" in diameter and each one has the water markings that show in the photos I have here at auction. Water Markings are: PRATT DUMAS COUZE FRANCE. This is only on one side of each filter paper. There is also directions for use! and there are the remnants of I think was a seal that was around the filter papers: the blue ribbon like pieces and the large round yellow and black piece. I was recently at a sale where I acquired a decent amount of antique textiles. I would guess them to all be about turn of the century. This set consists of what appears to be a boxed collar. I slipped it over my head and it fits fine, along with two extra wide cuffs, sort of like for a nightgown. It is made of an off white French valenciennes lace which featrures a dainty floral pattern. The collar is made of 4 pieces of lace which each measure 14" by 3" and the cuffs are each 18" by 3" It is in great condition ... moreexcept for two little tears which can be seen in the last two photos.
