There are photos of the Normandie fitting out(4) The bridge, the Captain's cabin, the Winter Garden, the Grand Salon(4) the Smoking Room, the 1st Class Dining Room(3) the Children's Playroom, the Tourist Class Lounge, 1st Class Passenger Cabins, including a number of suites(12) a tourist class cabin, a third class cabin, the rug from the Grabd Salon(with no furniture) and photos of the Grand Salon rug being woven on a loom by a number if female workers. There are also a number of newspaper articles at the back of the album(attached to album pages) regarding the creation of the rug and other supplies for the ship. This is a WWII French gun sight. Written on one side is“Lunette de Pointage en Hauteur Modele 1924” over a unit and serial number which is over“KRAUSS PARIS” It is brass and quite massively built measuring 16.5” long and about 2-3/4” in diameter. There are two illumination ports near the ocular lens for illuminating the cross hairs. The reticle is one horizontal cross hair and three. Closely spaced vertical ones with the center one being very thin. The objective lens has“3m60” engraved on its retaining ring. The lenses are free of chips and scratches and are clear with no fogging while there are scattered dirt particles inside. An interesting scope of around 2 to 6 X. These two posters I personally picked up on a trip to Paris this past Christmas They advertise two different zoos in the Paris area and are in French. The one for Thoiry measures 16 inches X 24 inches and shows two children enjoying the animals at the zoo. The next one advertises ZooParc de Beauval and features Asato the gorilla- one of the featured attractions at this zoo- and it measures 22 inches X 30 inches. The condition of the posters are used. But in good condition with the colors still being vibrant and sharp. There are no major tears or creases. It is a beautifully crafted piece with no filled parts. It is embellished with swags. Garlands, and foliate designs throughout. It is hallmarked in several places with the purity mark of the head of Minerva as well as Martial Fray’s maker’s mark. This is an original 1918 stone lithograph poster by Adolph Willette soliciting subscriptions to the 4th National War Loan. The morale boosting image depicts French General Francois Kellerman protecting Marianne as he defeated the Prussians at the battle of Valmy in 1792. The poster has some restoration at the extreme edges not affecting the central image area. And. There is evidence of a horizontal fold with restoration before the poster was linen backed. French 1886 35 Lebel Bayonet w/ Steel Hilt
This is a very nice example of a 1886/35 bayonet for the French Lebel rifle with a somewhat scarce steel hilt. The bayonet is clean with no rust or pitting. Blade is straight. The scabbard is properly cut and capped with just the faintest hint of blueing. I assume this was on purpose because I can find no evidence of it being worn or rubbed off and it is patinated over the finish. There is one small ding in the scabbard, but it does not hinder the operation. The numbers do not match as expected on a arsenal reworked bayonet, This is a nice scarce french piece for a military collection. If I missed anything and more answers are needed, please ask. c1895 Antique Print / Illustration of French Horn & The Monster Bass or Tuba
The print is a text illustration from a late 19th century(circa 1890-1900) Victorian children's magazine. The image was printed using offset lithograph. The print is matted in a 10 X 8 inch mat and is ready to be framed in a standard size 10 X 8 inch frame. The mat opening measures 6 X 4 1/2 inches. The sheet is in good condition aside from light age toning and being trimmed on the edges. The white lines in the picture are due to a poor scan and do not appear on the actual mat& print. The image is titled"The French Horn. The Monster Bass or Tuba" There is text printed on the reverse side. This is an antique print guaranteed to be over 100 years old. The image is black& white.
