ANTIQUE FRENCH MANTLE BRONZE CLOCK, MARTI et CIE 1860'S
I am offering a diamond in the rough a beautiful antique French gilded bronze and hand painted porcelain mantle clock made by the renowned French clocks maker Samuel Marti et Cie. This piece was made between 1860 and 1870. Based on the early serial number of 1989. Movement stamped“S. Marti et Cie Medaille de Bronze” in a circle. Samuel Marti was awarded the Bronze Medal in 1860. as well as the hand stamped serial number and the makers mark, there is an interesting mark in the left side of the back plate which is a square with the capital letters C,J,C,C. Please view all photos for these marks and for the overall condition and appearance of this beautiful time piece. This is a working mantle clock and it strike the chimes on the half and whole hours. The condition of this piece is excellent. But need a cleaning to make it glow. The hand painted ... moreporcelain dial and the associate plates are in perfect condition. The back cover is missing, but can be replaced. The front glass cover is perfect. The key and the pendulum are replacements. The pendulum is an original for this type of movement, but comes from a different clock. This clock measures approximately 15.5" tall by 9.25" wide by 5.5" deep. Samuel Marti et Cie were well known clock makers in Paris in the mid eighteenth century. In 1860 it's known that their premises were situated at Le Pays de Montbeliard and in 1863 Marti worked with two other well known clock maker's Roux. And Japy Freres in promoting their clock movements. This type of clock is unique and valuable. Other examples sell for well over $2000 at auction and higher on the open market. Maintain this piece and it will only increase in value. I am offering this clock for a very reasonable starting bid with NO RESERVE. I advise the winner of this clock to have it looked at by a professional clock restorer to have the movement cleaned and oiled as well as taking care of any problems associated with the delivery of this delicate time piece. Set of three French solid silver coasters or dishes
This set of three solid silver coasters or small dishes may be very useful on a table. The look is simple and classic with the nice shell patterned handles. They are 12,5 cm wide(without the handles) and 2,5 cm high. The overall length including the handles is a little over 17 cm. The three dishes together weigh 390 grams. The silver marks on these pieces are not perfectly clear but still readable, and shows a rare case: a first set of typical Minerva marks, for French 950/1000 silver, present on each piece, seems to have been overstruck with a diamond-patterned punch, and then a small Mercury head(small guarantee export mark) has been added. Beautiful French"Marti" Antique Gilt Bronze or Spelter Figural Clock with Marble Base Working. Here is a gorgeous Antique French Gilt Bronze. Brass or Spelter Figural Mantle Clock with a beautiful Marble Base. The clock is in working condition and comes with the key. I am sorry I do not know how to tell the type of metal the figure is made of. The clock was made by"Marti" and the movement is stamped with the"Marti" Trademark. The trademark also has Meaille D'Or 1900 Paris. This fantastic clock measures 19.5" tall x 10.5" wide x 6.25" deep. The clock has a beautiful porcelain hand painted dial decorated in a floral pattern. There are no cracks. Breaks or repairs to the dial. The brass bezel and door open and close as they should and there are no cracks or breaks on the glass. The marble base ... moreis in excellent condition and is also adorned with gilt feet and an ornate gold gilt around the dial and bezel. The clock has a bell chime on the half and full hour counting down the hours. As stated earlier we are not certain as to what type of metal the figure is made from. The figure is in excellent condition with only one blemish. There is a repair to the wrist on the raised arm holding what appears to be a torch. At the base of the figure are what appear to be tools. There is a hammer. Chisel and what looks like a wheel or Cog. We feel this represents in some way the working class of the time. This is a beautiful heirloom clock from the turn of the Century. An extraordinarily simple and elegant design. Unknown maker. Purchased in France in the 1980s. But likely of 1920s or 1930s manufacture. Handles appear to be ebony. For purposes of dimensions, the coffee is approximately 9" X 5" X 3" The handle on the sugar bowl is cracked. Otherwise in good condition with no obvious scratches or dents. Truly a great set.

The French Symbols& Traditions reference book for Vietnam insignia of the Indochina War period lists several similar badges, but not this one. The symbol in the center is the symbol used by the ancient Vietnamese army on their halberds. The anchor could indicate that this is a French colonial unit, or a marine unit, or a navy unit.
