Recently acquired out of a Private Midwest estate. We are able to offer this very interesting, early 1900's era ~ 8 STRING MANDOLIN WITH WONDERFUL ORIGINAL HAND PAINTED GRAPHICS& SAYINGS ~. This mandolin actually appears to be a fine quality instrument. I believe the back and sides are Brazilian rosewood. It has a wonderful look and the hand painted sayings are really quite unique. The original owner's name of SILVIO J. ZUCALI is nicely painted on the mandolin as well as the original case. We are selling this old mandolin as found. It does have a crack on the back and some of the purfling is loose. The front, neck and sides are actually in pretty decent condition with some expected wear. The mandolin measures 24 3/8 inches long and the body is 13 inches long by 9 1/8 inches wide. Made by known artist's, Domingo and Chepa Franco of the San Xavier Reservation in Arizona. Carved and painted cholla wood. Saguaro cactus wood, woven cloth, string, human hair, and leather. Circa 1950's- 1970's. Original paper label attached from the"PAPAGO INDIAN SELF-HELP PROGRAM" with the artists name and a typewritten description of the work. I have seen dolls in museums that were made by Domingo and Chepa Franco before. But never a large complex sculpture like this one. It depicts a man an his wife, who is riding a horse, ... moreand they are in search of a new home. He is holding a bow and arrow, dressed in white cloth, and with a rabbit fur quiver on his back. She is riding, sitting on a saddle blanket,holding the reins, and wearing a white dress. Both of them have human hair and the sculpture is painted, probably with oil paints. The style of the carving is primitive and naive. The details are very interesting and the piece as a whole is very expressive and portrays a timeless event in Papago- Native American cultural history. Fantastic Folk Art Mustard Yellow Painted Rocking Chair/Rocker
Offering my knitting rocker. Which is very old but also very sturdy and comfortable. This is for PICK UP ONLY, but you could do a nice trip to our lovely state. We're located just a few miles from Ben& Jerry's ice cream factory, surrounded by beautiful scenic drives and loads of things to do and see. I can hold the rocker for the winning bidder for up to a month as well, AFTER payment, and longer if pre-arrangements are made. Just ask. The rocking chair measures: 41 inches from floor to top of headrest 32 inches from front of rocker feet to back of same(longest part of rocking chair. But you need to leave room to actually rock it back and forth in as well) 22 and 1/4 inches at widest part of seat(which is cupped in back and provides great support) Rocking motion is smooth and easy. Very relaxing to sit in. I have no idea as to ... moremaker or age, but the paint has been worn off the arms from use and it is painted with a wonderful shade of yellow(very much like French's mustard) and hand-painted with flowers, vines and patterns. The sides of the arms, the tops of the rockers and the front of the legs are painted a beautiful dutch blue, with the middle of the front rung being a soft off-white. The paint is chipped here and there, all consistent with age and use. There is a crack in the seat, but don't let that put you off as it follows the line of the rear, taller piece of the seat. This is to say it is not so much a crack in the wood as the slight separation of the two pieces of the seat. The pieces of the seat all show slight separation, and I am thinking this is just due to age and certainly has not affected use in any way. I have shown in photo 7 where there is a small, wedge-shaped piece that is loose and would need to be glued back on where the middle piece of the seat meets the top-back piece of the seat. It sits snugly in it's spot right now, but to be glued down would be good. The back of the rocking chair. Where the back post and the top head rest meet there is a crack that was repaired

Very nice near mint painted wood pig from Mexico. This one has a lot of color and design on him. 4 1/2" by 7" This type of Mexican folk art is going to be even more collectible in the next few years as it ceases to be produced in Mexico. His tail is missing It was originally either a pink pink cleaner or a wire wrapped with pink paper or tape. Can easily be replaced. Or left without.

This is an Extraordinary Tonala Pottery Chicken/Rooster! I have yet to find another piece like this. It is signed on the bottom Mexico- Silva. This beautiful folk art piece is approximately a whopping 19+inches tall. 15 1/2" 16" long, and 8 3/4" wide. I am not sure of when this was made but there is surface wear throughout especially around the neck under the head. You can see this is where it has been grabbed over and over to move. Beautiful browns, reds, tans, blacks, and whites adorn the whole bird in a very folk arty design. There is a dove on breast of the chicken/rooster. I would call it a rooster because of the extra large flowing tail feathers. The tail"feathers alone measure approximately 12" tall and 2 1/2" 2 3/4" wide. This piece is hollow but very sturdy at approximately 1/2" thick walls. ... moreThe base measures approximately 9 3/4" long, 6 1/4" wide and the flat surface of the base measures approximately anywhere from 1/2" 1" wide. There are no cracks chips or anything of the sort. Just surface wear from being handled or set outside. This would make a GREAT addition to any collection. Painted Pitcher 3D Fox handle The Fox Hunt Ceramic Glazed Folk Art
Foxes and hounds. One side dogs and one side foxes with a sly fox looking into pitcher. 6 3/4" to top of handle and fox ears. Fox handle is peeking into the pitcher. I think the pitcher is a mold and I have seen different versions painting. This is highly glazed and painted by Rose. Stark white background. Nicely molded with blue trim. On the foxes' side one foxes ear and one foxes nose are rough on the tip. Original glaze may not have stuck. On the dogs' side one ear is smooth but a tiny dot of white at point. Old Navajo Folk Art Weaving Items Native American Indian
This home made shadow box was made by a Navajo man to highlight the basic tools used in the Navajo weaving process. The box itself is attractive- pine with wood-burned designs. The inside walls painted white and the back board is painted black. Inside the box there is a comb for cleaning the wool, a spindle for making the wool into yarn, a tool for packing the rows of weaving together, and a small comb for pushing down small sections of woven areas. There is also an old post-card to show Navajo weaving in the context of the Reservation. A piece of glass covers the box and it has a hanger on the back. I have never seen another shadow box like this. The tools within are small but perfect to scale. For anyone interested in the Navajo and their culture, this would be a wonderful piece for a collection, to hang on a wall, or give as a gift. This glass bottle has old wavy lines similar to antique glass in old windows.there are old rainbow colored discoloration spots inside the bottle, I did not try and clean this. The bottom of this bottle has old straw lines and 10L incised in the center, the bottom has old age ~ wear scratch lines around the base. Nice late 19th century oil on board folk art ships painting from a recent Memphis estate. An American flag is displayed on the stern of the ship with figures climbing the mast. The painting is signed T.H. Liebenrood and is stamped on verso"TH Liebenrood. Goodwyn Institute, Memphis, Tenn. The painting has a few small scratches and scuffs but nothing ugly, no in-painting or repairs that I can find. The painting is sold as found and could use a light cleaning but I will leave that to the future owner. The painting is housed in the original period frame. Please contact me with any questions.
