Nice Early Antique FRAMED Embroidery PRIMER Sampler, c1827, Orig Girl's Folk Art
Very Unusual Early Antique Young Girl's Embroidered Practice Sampler or"PRIMER" D ESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.Original antique young girl's sampler. Done about 1820 based on the homespun material and the look of the letters. I got this in the same estate sale as one recently sold on ebay done by(and named to) Judith Ann Cutler, born July 10, 1817. The Cutler sampler was dated 1827, so is consistent with the appearance of this one. If not done by Judith, may have been done by one of her sisters? This appears to have FOUR complete alphabets. Then. Other individual practice letters, some underlining work, and even a 4" long piece of embroidered border. Letters/alphbets are done in several colors, like she was trying to decide which looked best. I believe this was her first"practice" sampler. I have seen small ... moresimple samplers done for this purpose, typically called primers, but not one like this. So. A very early, very unusual framed sampler, 7" x 12" 9" x 14" with the frame. Hemmed on all sides. Has very little wear and shows its age well. Not too bad considering it is almost 200 years old! A nice early framed example, for your collection or to hang on the wall, without having to spend an arm and a leg. This has a reasonable starting price with no reserve. Excellent condition overall, and can go right up on the wall when it comes out of the shipping box. THIS IS DONE ON HOMESPUN LINEN. Which was probably handmade and spun from flax by her mother. The horse is either hand-painted, or hand-stencilled, probably hand-stencilled with some templates, since there are small variations in the design, and even in the screws used(note pictures of the seat which has two slightly different sized screws) The design is NOT a decal. Measures 22 inches long x 18 inches x 9 inches wide. Seat is 9-1/2 inches off the ground Weight is approximately 4 lbs. This is a small horse. Meant for a toddler or small child. This was once a well-loved. Used children's toy, There is normal wear to the item. The wood is dry. The edge of the wood, ... morewhere a child's feet would rest, is gently rounded from wear. The knobs are smooth. The varnish on the top of the seat is worn off. There is a small stain to one side of the horse. Our family is selling a pair of vintage paper mache folk art statues. The male statue measures approx 19" tall. The female approx 21" tall. Both statues are paper mache with both colored paper and hand painting, finished by a clear coat type sealer. The condition of both statues is very good, with no damage. VINTAGE ca. 1930's TENOR BANJO BIRDSEYE MAPLE RIM- NICKEL HARDWARE This instrument appears to have been made in the 1920's or more likely the 1930's. It bears the name"33 Dutch" Handwritten on the underside of what appears to be the original banjo head. We can't find any references to this brand so its likely handmade by an individual, perhaps a prototype instrument of a small independent business. Its certainly made by a maker who knew his or her craft, its of high quality and made of fine materials. This could also be a banjo made by an employee of a large banjo manufacturer, made for personal use and therefore does not bear a brand label on the headstock, a practice that is still done to this day. Whomever made this banjo certainly knew what they were doing, the frets are perfectly aligned for perfect intonation, ... moreeverything is tight and solid. Because this was handmade in America in the 1930's it would also be considered American Folk Art. This instrument appears to be in excellent condition with no problems. Cracks, separations, loose or missing parts. The neck is perfectly straight(see photo) and is made of one-piece maple(no volute) rosewood laminated peg head and heel, rosewood fingerboard w/german nickel frets and pearl dot inlays, rosewood nut, all metal parts appear to be original and made of nickel, including the tension tuners, tension band, Grover patented tailpiece, 16 j bolts and hex nuts. The body(rim) is made of Birdseye maple with a rosewood rim cap, maple dowel stick with metal brace, newer spruce/rosewood grover bridge, no case. This instrument is a professional players instrument and delivers a beautiful tone. This is a one-of-a-kind handmade American instrument, not only a players instrument but also a beautiful piece of folk art. Antique Mexico Silk Saltillo Blanket Rug Serape Mexican Woven Folk Art Tapestry
Hi. You are bidding on a very old and extremely well-made Mexican silk saltillo. This particular one is very old. And you can tell that by the design of the silk strings on the end and the tightness of the weave of the fabric. It is large, measuring 85 inches by a little over 36 inches. It has a few condition issues. There are a few spots on the saltillo that I have photographed. They are small and not obvious. Amazingly there is very little damage to the fabric. I think that if you collect these, you will love the condition. I do not see fraying or damage. The colors are still bright and vibrant, and the inner diamond design is wonderful. Thank you.

I purchased this fantastic piece of Americana from a farm estate sale in Puxico. Missouri. The cow weathervane is made of single thickness galvanized steel. The cow had been painted the traditional BARN RED sometime back in history. The cow does have a bullet hole as can be seen in the photos and does have a couple of dents where it appears some bullets did not penetrate the steel. The cow appears to be homemade and most likely made in the farmer's shop. The LARGE folk art primitive cow weathervane measures 35 inches long from tip of the cow's tail to the tip of the arrow.and the center pole measures 17.5 inches tall. Chatterer was laid down. 5 October 1943 by the Stadium Yacht Basin Inc. Cleveland, Ohio; launched, 15 April 1944; completed and commissioned USS YMS-415, 1 October 1944. She was assigned to the Pacific Ocean. Where she participated in operations off Okinawa in June 1945. This unusual birdcage is in a very good original condition. Only the glass water bottle is missing, end of the 19th century. The birdcage is original painted with simulated marble columns and painted wood grain on the side. The old stuffed parrot is also painted on top in the middle of the arch.
