Offering for your consideration a wonderful vintage black Ameican Folk Art cloth doll. She is nicely dressed and has embroidered facial features with a little applied nose. She is wearing all of her orginal clothing including her shoes. Apron, lace trimmed pantaloons and earrings. She stands 10 1/4" tall. She is slightly dusty from being loved for so long. 1960 Kuna Abstract Mola Handstitched Applique Folk Art Owl Hammock Flowers 136A
This is a very old mola. C.1960, in the 50 years old range I was told upon purchase, and in good condition for its age although the colors have faded and there are signs of wear as it was worn a lot. It is quite unique with a central motif of owl and different other motifs all around such as the hammocks the Kunas sleep in and some flowers around the panel arranged around 4 stars. Very good work, signs of wear to be expected but good shape for its age, and please inspect details and close ups carefully as it is certainly not in new condition. It looks like there is a black stain on the lower left but it is not a stain but a piece of fabric that got turned over, I placed many photos and close ups of this panel so the condition can be easily seen. He is wearing a long robe. I purchase this sculpture several years ago. Along with a couple of others, from a Polish lady who was having to sell all of her treasures and I believe she told be the artist, carver was Szczepkowski. It is in the style of Szczepkowski. Really cool Hand carved hand painted DAY OF THE DEAD TRUNK made for that celebration. Not sure where, not sure when. The previous owner had it since 1980 but didn't know how old it was. The carvings are great, each skull is different no patterns here and the skeleton on top is AWESOME! Box measures 24 long, 21 high& 15 wide. Antique Wood Butter Press Primative Dovetail Tongue Groove Folk Art Cow Carving
The butter press is in really nice condition. Just some wonderful craftsmanship in the construction of this one. Now when you look at the craving in the press it might explain why this press looks to have seen little if any use. This is just a guess. But I think this is a father son project for mom. All the details of this press are exact. The corner work, the way the handle is turned to fit perfectly flush with the top(looks like a button on top) the carved blades of grass. Then you get to the cow. It had to have been a child that carved it. Looks like dad tried to dress it up a bit with his work on the horns ears and tail. This particular type of geometric mola. With an image representing something that would not normally be abstract within an abstract background that it blends in as a complete mosaic, is one of the most traditional highly collectable original patterns that were once made in the 50's and evolved later from this kind of design into full blown more exact representations of the subjects themselves but still often with geometrics backgrounds. Rustic Vintage Hand Made Folk Art Pull Hay Wagon With Bales
This is a rustic vintage hand made wooden pull/hay wagon. It measures 7 1/2" x 15" and 5" tall not including the hay bales or the dowel used to pull it with. The wooden wheels are painted red and the body of the wagon(inside and outside) is painted green. I believe 2 pieces have been replace. The piece that slides in on the end of the wagon is made of thinner wood and it is not painted, the wooden dowel used to pull it with also looks newer and does not have a painted finish. The lid is delicately trimmed and bears the monogram F.A.H. The most appealing aspect of this box is the patriotic eagle with a stars and stripes decorated shield on the side. Very folky. For your collecting and bidding consideration we offer a Wonderful Vintage South American Folk Art Reversed Painted Glass& Wood Tray/Wall Hanging. This gorgeous tray measures 15&3/4" Long x 11&3/4" Wide x 1" High and 2&7/8" High to the top of the Handles. It is made of solid wood and painted gold. The inside is lined with a reverse painting on glass and depicts a South American or Peruvian celebration scene. It is signed by the artist: JVE and this artist is/was very talented. The detail in the painting is exquisite and lifelike. The people are in traditional costume making this a very colorful painted tray. Three of the windows have what appear to be copper foil. We researched Butterfly Wing folk art and are not experts. But the windows could also be made from the Morpho butterfly that is captured in South ... moreAmerican rain forests. The wings were used in art and jewelry to give it a lovely sheen. It would take an expert on this type of art to know for sure if it is foil or butterfly wings. These trays were very popular from the 1920's to the 1950's and many were bought as souvenirs. This is in Excellent condition with no chips or cracks to the glass or wood. All of the painting is intact except for a tiny bit at the bottom left edge under the signature. It pretty much blends in with the ground cover in the scene and is hardly noticeable. But worth mentioning. There is a hanger on the back for wall mounting or it can be used as a tray. If you have a kitchen or room in your home with a South American theme, this would be a great addition to that room. It is also a wonderful, heavy, sturdy tray that will hold plenty. Vintage Finnish Hand Carved Wood Man Playing Guitar & Singing Finland Folk Art
Here is a very unique and whimsical Finnish Hand~Carved Wooden Sculpture. It is carved out of one solid block of wood so there is no glue or nails holding the parts together. It has a varnished finish. A man with longish hair. Wearing a suit and bow tie is playing guitar and has his mouth wide open as he is singing away to his heart's content! By the expression on his face you can tell that he is singing as loudly as he can and lovin' what he's doing! The carving is 7" tall(including the base) x 3.5" wide x 2" deep. It is signed on the bottom by the Finnish craftsman: A. KAVE'N. My guess is that his name is actually a much longer Finnish name but he abbreviated it for the purpose of this signing. The details are exquisite: the folds in the clothes. The facial expressions, his wide-open mouth showing all of his ... moreteeth, his stance, his hair. My parents received this from a relative in Finland in the late 1960's~early 1970's. It is in excellent. Vintage condition and would make a great conversation piece.
